And if all that matters is what coming out of the speakers, then the DJ better do a good fucking job.

i know what he was talking about, and i still stand by my view. He makes his fans happy. They go home and sleep well at night. end of story

Today I listened to a recording of "DJ Tiësto @ Disneyland Paris". There is a point, when Tiësto is announced by this black guy. "He is the number one DJ of the world." "Great pleasure to me, to let you welcome..."
Later, this guy says: "Let the DJ know how you feel." This was the point I thought: "What the F? This sounds like 'Let the king feel the people's subjection'."
This DJ is just a DJ! He plays records just as everyone else can buy in every good record shop. He produces music like a lot of further producers. Man! What makes Tiësto so special?! Yes, his sets are really mindblowing. But I know at least one DJ who does it as well, if not even better. And I'm not speaking of the big ones. Tiësto even has no special skills on the turntables. Just mixing good tracks after another.

DJ Tiësto. This cow has been milked enough.
DVD: In Concert Vol. 1, OK.
DVD: In Concert Vol. 2, why?
Olympia, where is the connection to trance?
Paris, same as Olympia.
etc.

DJ Tiësto is not the No. 1 DJ. He is the No. 1 publicity platform. (my opinion)

This Tiësto hype is only the result of a great and massive marketing strategy. And I'm a little pi**ed off because they are using our trance music.

Perhaps you'll say, trance music is nearly dead in some countries. So, why don't support the "Tiësto Mission" to get it a little alive in the commercial public?
Well, we had this a few years ago. Too many cheap productions in the radio and on TV. Do you still want trance to be the mainstream?

Big lightshows and massive advertising are no reasons to be the No. 1.

Oh Christ...shut the fuck up...

YOu just spit up what was discussed in the Disney thread....your arguement is stale, mundane at best.

It's really a rather simple concept.....dont like him? dont listen to him...whats it matter to you who is number one DJ or not...

We ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL know Tiesto is a pop star...and that he is not like he was years ago....so either bring something new to the table or piss off.....

Well i mean this arguement is sooooooooooooo old....since 2002 people have been whining about this retarded number one DJ crap.....

I mean seriously who gives a shit who the number one DJ is.....

Posted by iammesol on Apr-17-2005 23:53:

its just a popularity poll. It shouldn't even exist

I personally am a Tiësto fan, and its not like i go around chanting WELL OH YEAH? MY DJ IS #1 BABY!!! I don't care whos #1. The only person who you should care about is someone thats you like.

Personally i'm also an anti-armin kinda' guy, but i'm not parading on his topics saying ARMINS SUCKS HE SHOULD DIE. Give it a rest people please. We're sick of this incessant crap

Posted by eRRaTiK on Apr-18-2005 00:04:

he was great... once...

Posted by Danté Ësto on Apr-18-2005 00:05:

LMAO, lame excuse for an arguement.

Tiesto never sucked to everyone before he was #1 did he.
Armin is much more of a publicity whore, radio show every week? fuck me thats good avertising isn't it.
Trance as a genre doesn't need to be technically mixed perfectly, the breakdowns and drops do the work.
Give the guy some credit, he's a fkin better DJ than all of you, and you cant deny it. He's made it ffs, and everyone knows it.
Trance fans and tiesto fans aren't all idiots. I've been listening to progressive house for a lot longer than trance, and Sasha as my primary DJ. Fuck me, it takes someone special to take over Sasha.

Grow up....

<-----------

Huge Tiesto Fan! I have been for the last 4 years.

Anyways I can see this now..... Next year when the new Poll is announced with a New #1 (maybe) the 30 or more Threads why that DJ sucks.. or how good he was back in 19--, and why is this Dj #1.

Posted by eRRaTiK on Apr-18-2005 00:45:

new dj? you don't have faith in tijs to go 4 in a row?

Ok, hold up. Why do you assume he is black? Second, why does that matter at all? And also, what the hell did you mean by "I do even tolerate black music." I think you have a bigger problem than Tiesto.

Posted by iammesol on Apr-18-2005 01:14:

agree, hes MC Stretch, and hes a British white mug

and at whoever said don't have faith in Tijs to pull 4 in a row... I wouldn't be surprised if Tijs or PvD get it 2005, both have put on some great stuff

You're absolutely retarded, douche. Sorry we all don't stand in a massive crowd to listen to the fine, precision (or lack thereof) mixing going on behind the deck. Fuck off and go be weird.

Well we certainly don't all stand in a massive crowd to hop around and howl "Looooove coooomes again!" like a bunch of idiot sheep, either.

What did the laptop ever do to you?

i dont think a big dj like that should be using a laptop to mix.

Of course Paul van Dyk is not the "best" DJ in terms of class and skill. But compared to Tiesto? Only the most densely self-delusional fans will claim that Tiesto matches the technical ability of Paul.

He's using Final Scratch. The laptop is not mixing for him, it merely feeds digital files in response to time-coded vinyl. Please look into its operation, as it does not reduce effort necessary for mixing.

Posted by TranceSpeeder on Apr-18-2005 02:17:

oh it can beatmatch for him.

Agreed...Paul definatly can school Tiesto on mixing.

Posted by Krysta_101 on Apr-18-2005 02:19:

Tiësto's number one because he looks so damn GQ at his shows.

Posted by TranceSpeeder on Apr-18-2005 02:20:

being the number one dj is not all about mixing, there is more to it.
