haha. classic. you fucks make me laugh.

id like to put my hand up for a defender of hard trance; i dont like much of it, but the stuff i do like is normally right at the top of my faves list.

id say dumonde, circa 99-forever and ever -would be my top pick

i dont see much difference between uplifting trance, and hard trance with melody to be honest.

and soups- since when do you need an \"education\" to enjoy any type of music? if some punk was on here talking about how much they love G&D youd never ask them twice what their education with EDM has been would ya??
i just think its kinda dumb to talk up things like jumping castles and the like as part of an event. i mean, if you love the music a jumping castle should be neither here nor there.

and i have never been, and never shall be, jaded. i love the music far too much for that. luckily for me, im probably easier to entertain than some of the experts on this board

im intrigued to know Loderan, what exactly is it that draws you to Hard NRG or Hard Trance... i mean do you listen to it as your only form of music, do you listen to it outside of the clubs, whats your education on this type ofmusic. if you actually enjoy it for whatever reason and listen to it outside of teh clubs, then whilst you may not have teh full agreeance of most people here, you will have some of their respect..

to me, hard trance and hard nrg, whilst its good to pump and jump around to for a bit, im not really sure that i can classify it as musically talented music..

*awaits blasting*

Why are you asking what draws him to Hard trance / NRG ??

It would be the same reason to what draws you to gay vocal melodic tracks. Any form of EDM is a tool that can control emotion, as for the harder stuff, my reason to why it draws me is because the drive adrenaline it produces (and yes without the use of drugs). But dont' get me wrong, I love my softcock trance still.

I do agree that the hard trance quality has dropped lately, compare tracks of today to tracks like Second Trip, or when Scot Project was in his prime. I reckon Cosmic Gate are keeping the hard trance integrity alive, but as time passes there will only be an increase in fodder.

the occasional hard trance i don't mind but hardstyle.. gah.

Posted by queen_vee on Apr-28-2005 12:52:

a kicking hard trance tracks is powerful... can really move you, i guess. but fark, some dj's (or the sound guy?? who actually controls the volume?) whatever, whoever it is seriously seems to think if it's a hard track the volume should be louder. people around this type of music have induced premature deafness on themselves and want to inflict it on everyone else. some of us then just get a headache!

hard trance, too loud, just really doesn't seem terribly 'musical' at all. plus alot of tracks are truly are only noise these days, you know, kinda 'doof doof doof doof DOOF DOOF DOOF DOOF' he he

Posted by tachyon on Apr-28-2005 13:17:

can't really post something good about hardstyle without sounding too jaded can i?

im not enjoying it as much anymore, its too overused!!

lorderan, no i'm not surprised at all.. i'm sure you've been going out when the docks are still there, mark james still had his radio show on kiss and citilink hasn't even been built yet.

no, people does not need education to appreciate music, they just need taste. im sure those who appreciate hardstyle can determine which ones are good and which ones are shite. but to appreciate a wider range of music, you need an education. go to different styles, diffrrent parties, and staying in one musical genre will make you jaded faster than you can say technics.

I'm impressed with this forum, you can say a opinion without people screaming you down. thanks guys

Well why do I like hard trance/hardstyle? Hmmm. The two main reasons are scot project and cosmic gate, they've got some of the best strongs I've heard. If I hear a song (what ever genre) and I get a shiver down my spin then I like it. My favourite song atm is DFC scot project (not sure if its produced by them or not), I love that song because its multifacited (a feature lacking in most hard trance now a days), it has build ups and build downs but has about 2.5 "different" songs within it.

I could be listening to a pretty mediocre song and there is one particular sound that sounds cool. That single sound or cord can do it for me. Just because I like hard trance/hardstyle doesn't mean I don't appreciate progressive or other forms of trance.

I absolutely love dancing, I love dancing hard as hell (been like that since I first went out) good hard trance and hardstyle justs allows me to dance angry (I love it). When I go out, my mate are dancing with a huge smile on their faces, you'd look at me and I've got a big frown and watching my feet. Sometimes my friends think I'm pissed off, I'm not I'm just concentrating hard.

Bass was great the other night because they've shut off the car park, it was a different crowd. Even when I go out and theirs a shit dj I always have a good night, just because the music is not up to scratch doesn't ruin my night. If the musics shit I go and speak to my friends or go on missions, the night is more then the music to me its the whole experience.

Have fun guys.

and the black hole sucks all the rediculously bright colours from their pants and glowsticks

in conclusion -- hard trance as it was made back in the day by cosmic gate etc can be acceptable. Hardstyle enthusiasts on the other hand should try their hand at dj'ing
