so the album is good because you were too ignorant to know which tracks were big hits back in 1997-1998.
I always thought that Tranceport was mixed using software and a computer.
Still one of my favorite CDs

. Unless he did the pour mixing on purpose, and added some "tiesto like" vinyl noises to it
. Not that im implying that Tiesto does that
.
I heard rumors that Oakie gave his tracks to sound engineers for computer mixing, before, but I don't know if I buy it. I will have to listen to Tranceport again, and listen critically. It's been a long time since I gave it a listen, and maybe I've never listened very hard.

Tranceport is massively overrated. Oakenfold himself has much better compilations.
Its status is a result of a) nostalgia for the 98-99 boom, and b) the explosion of file-sharing that coincided to spread the compilation digitally.

Originally posted by kush paintings Great point. Whenver I listen to an Oakenfold mix I never find myself itching to hear the next track, as with some djs who are smooth as silk but at some point in their mixes you find yourself bored.

Originally posted by sandstorm03 you can hear "vinyl" noises, and slams esp i think one of the mixes around el nino that made me want to cry. lol
I'm a dj, and I don't know what he means by slams. Bass slams, like his mixing style? Maybe he means bass cancellation. I wouldn't be surprised.

Originally posted by Orko then what is base cancellation? from my understanding of wave(sound) theory, when two waves overlap, it becomes an amplified wave. so if two deep sounds overlap eachother, the result is a super deep sound.
love the cd incl. n e w y o r k release

Originally posted by NiteMer When you ride two kicks/basslines into each other too hard, it doesn't amplify more, but the kicks start to cancel each other out. It creates a muffled sound. It's kind of hard to describe, but I could point it out to you, on mixes that have it.

Originally posted by Orko yeah thats exactly the type of diagram i was looking for. maybe you shouldnt point out the flaws, maybe ignorance in this case is best? i dont want to ruin my favorite cd

This is the album that got me into trance - it is the best!
I hadn't listend to this cd in forever, and wow. It is unbelievable. Like I said previously, I never found myself bored or uninterested with any of the tracks and the sound never wore on me. Before Oakenfold goes into the last third of the cd he brings it to a complete standstill. Perfect timing and really gears you up for the last section. I noticed though, while his mixing by no means ruins his mix, it simply seems to be the intro and outro and of every song, which gives the mix a somewhat predictable flow. I like with Sasha and Digweed when I start gradually noticing this sound that transforms into the next track so that you don't know where one song began and the other ends. However, Oakenfolds timing for each song and its place in the mix is perfect. Can somebody recommend some sets from 99 that would be good to get.
Live at Home at Space in Ibiza is good
