i must have business wrong then. I thought the point was to sell good products, not just make a "better product."

Plus it can appeal to mac/apple users all it wants. Totally pointless until it supports the platform.

get off ure high horse, seriously. it supports 95% of the computer industry, i take it that sony doesnt care nor have time to sell their product to 5% of the market when it knows its going to dominated by the lame ass ipod. its not like their going to gain a full 5% anyway, itd be more like 0.5% which in sonys total income is TOTALLY POINTLESS TO SUPPORT OUR PLATFORM.

please, think rationally, not arrogantly.

I was just about to buy one and then I realized that the shipping is $40USD, that's ridiculous.

from sony? or from amazon UK? cuz as far as i know its only available in the UK, so 40 bucks would make sense. they are available on ebay, im sure the shipping would be cheaper.

Posted by UWM on May-10-2005 15:57:

That was from Ebay where the shipping was $40.

Do you think it would be smarter to invest in a HD5 or an HD3?

Posted by Mebot on May-10-2005 16:59:

quick question:

why would you need both horizontal and vertical usage of the unit?

everything else sounds pretty cool, but i just don't see why the choice of having it horizontal or vertical makes much of a deal.

id go for the HD5, having a spare battery on the go is......"priceless"

but for aesthetics, the HD3 pwns it, imo, the HD5 is short of sonys perfection in creating a sleek portable.

theyre both great, you wont be dissapointed with either.

honestly, i dont know, i find it pretty useless.....

i think its how people are comfortable holding the unit and pressing the buttons with one hand, so for me, when i had my *gulp* ipod, vertical did very well. but hey, maybe horizontal works better.

still, im loving the removable battery BIGTIME. i cant stress enough how much of a plus that is. i dont know if i should wait for an HD6 or get the HD5....my main beed is the design of it, im not sure if i like it as much as i like my MD.

I dont understand why Sony didnt put more technical features in it. Why not an fm/radio reciever or an Line-in with recording options? That would be great, ok you can change the battery but futhermore I dont see advantages compared to Ipod or other Mp3 players.

Ah well I just love the service Apple provides, much better then sony!

just curious but how many people here think 20gigs isnt enough? I only have like 5 of my 60 gig of trance on my player and I have 35 gigs on mine. To me 20 gigs isnt shit

youd need a month to go through even 10gigs of music on the go.

dont be "greedy"

its pointless having 60gb of space, if u want space, buy an external hard drive.

i, too, find large amounts of space overkill.

my personal collection is only 50 GB, of which a good 30 of it i rarely even listen too. 20gb is more than enough. Besides, if you run out of space, maybe you can just move stuff back and forth, after all it is like a hard drive

Posted by Flotser on May-10-2005 21:03:

and i guess you must use the SHITTY ANNOYING SonicStage software to transfer files (can't drag&drop in My Computer) is that correct?

so basically this sony mp3 player is the best one in the universe

Basically.

Posted by Mystre on May-11-2005 00:12:

really only reason i got ipod is cause i like the click wheel and yeha well if u only like tranc maybe 20 gigs is enough u tell yourslef whatever u want

Posted by basvh on May-11-2005 07:19:

Kamil, why do you hate Ipod so much?

Posted by getfoul on May-11-2005 07:24:

buckle your seatbelt folks, this is gonna be a rough ride.

40/60 gigs = all about selection. I want CHOICE. and with the 60 gig i get exactly that. I can put a ton of music on there and basically have a selection for any mood without having to re upload everything else tha ti want to listen to onto it again.

/waits patiently for the 100 gig ipod.

Posted by Tranc3 on May-11-2005 07:41:

Wow...Kamil....I'm not even sure I want to argue with you. You sound like a fundie in the sense that you think your way is right and any valid points against your own view are invalid for one reason or another of your own choosing.

Besides that, I just wanted to say that 40 gigs isn't enough, yes I listen to it all, I listen to music approximately 12-16 hours per day.
