Does Tiesto use pre-recorded cds when he mixes live?
Abso-fucking-lutely not!
Tiesto is a god umong shitty DJs. He is a legend of Trance and will stay that way for a long time.
Everyone who has actually followed Tiesto's carreer knows that he is an amazing producer/remixer and a brilliant DJ; as well as a humble and genuine person.
Every time I've seen him live he's blown me away. He not only get the croud going wild he plays original tracks with his own style.
Does he use other talent when producing?
Yes, anyone with half a brain would love to work with Tiesto and help him with singles. Tiesto doesn't need to prove he's a good producer.
For the Tiesto-haters; before you go shooting your mouth off with feebleminded claims about how he is fake or a bad DJ do the following things:
-See him live
-Listen to Magik 1-7
-Listen to all the Forbidden Paradises'
-Listen to Space Age 1.0 & 2.0
-Listen to 'Summerbreeze', 'In My Memory' and 'Nyana' (you can probably skip 'Just Be', heh)
-Watch Another Day in the Office
-Listen to all the In Search for Sunrises (including no. 4 which just came out
)
-Realize he just did a whole slew of shiz for the fucking OLYMPICS and listen to it, its good.
Now thank Tiesto for making Trance what it is today.
^_^

Yup, cos with Tiesto's name on it the chance of raking it in is suddenly going through the roof.

I have, and it is one of the most half-assed, poorly mixed and shittily selected gigs I've ever been to in my life. Tons of similar reports as well as his livesets give the same impression.
| quote: |
-Listen to Magik 1-7
|
I never saw the big deal about the Magik series, too little variation and innovation and too many bland tracks. Add the fact that 6 and 7 have some of the poorest mixing I've heard in my life, and Magik doesn't get much of a rating in my book. It may have made trance more popular worldwide, but sadly that has little to nothing to say innovatively and creatively.

-Listen to all the Forbidden Paradises'
|
A good series. However, Tiesto only did the first seven volumes of this series. The rest was by Doc Fabian and Misja Helsloot. Also, much of the sound contained on the earlier editions is a sound that Tiesto doesn't even want to associate himself with anymore, since it would clash violently with his accessible popstar image. Ever heard of Akira & Metal D - Trancetrutje?
| quote: |
-Listen to Space Age 1.0 & 2.0
|
Not heard these, so can't comment.

Summerbreeze is probably Tiesto's weakest compilation ever. It is just a bunch of his hits slapped together for the american market. Nyana is an alltime low as far as mixing is concerned for Tiesto (which says a lot). In My Memory was decent, though as mentioned hundreds of times, the help he received from various producers has a LOT to say in this matter.
| quote: |
-Watch Another Day in the Office
|
A two hour popstar promotional-DVD? No thanks.
| quote: |
-Listen to all the In Search for Sunrises (including no. 4 which just came out )
|
After number 2, they went down the same drain that his mixing and trackselection did. And it's In Search OF.

|
Do I really need to draw a paralell between this and Tiesto the popstar?

He might have brought trance to a wider audience, but I dunno if that is something we should thank him for when it is at the expense of creativity and fresh thinking.

I'm not knocking you if you have different tastes, thats fine. But to make the claims that Tiesto doesn't mix live and he doesnt produce his own stuff is unfounded and quite lame.

No need to be hostile over it. They're just expressing their opinions.

I don't mean to be hostile to someone who simply dislikes Tiesto, I do towards the starter of this rumor, as well as anyone who proliferates it. I just don't think Tiesto deserves this kind of muck-raking.
HE DOESN'T USE MIX CDS WHEN PERFORMING! plain and simple.
Of course no one has proof either way, but come on, it's just stupid.

Seriously guys, most meaningless worthless thread ever (well not ever, but it's up there). Besides the fact the idea is rediculous there is NO PROOF. End of story.

now this the absolute truth on this whole matter. it doesn't matter if you hate him or if you love him, it doesen't matter if he's a good dj or a bad dj, if his works are done by him or by another person, the only truth here is that Tiesto is a legend and will continue being a legend for a long time and there is nothing one can do about it

True.

I'll take some heat off. . .
Miss Sandra Collins has spun many a pre-recorded set. . .or has been so drunk that the local dj had to pick her set out for her cuz she couldn't see straight.

No, that's why I even look in the Music Discussion forum from time to time...
...
Must have... daily... Tiesto... bashing fix...
EDIT: For the record, I am also irritated with Tiesto's, hmmm, how can I say this politely... "Lack of Ambition" in the last few years (Anyone who says that just because he travels/plays a lot of gigs that means he's ambitious needs to build a time machine, go back to 2004 (Maybe it was 2003?) and hit up the Tiesto show at Vision in Chicago... worst mixes ever...)
Fact of the matter is, that even if he isn't quote "faking it" (Which I very much doubt he is), he's still obviously lost some of the love he once had for playing out night after night, and so now it is glaringly apparent when he's not really even paying attention to what he's doing...
Just remembered someone told me the other day that the mixing on the set from Disney a few weeks back was quote "The best technical mixing I have ever heard." Someone besides me has to see the humor in that...
Cheers from another random Tiesto basher/worthless thread contributor...

dont think he uses pre-recorded mixes either. his mixing is too poor for that. but when it comes to production its true that most of his stuff is produced by others. especially Geert Huinink (Magik Journey, A Tear In The Opening, Forever Today)

oh no! he plays popular tunes and recent releases! what a shame!
please people. start knocking Tiesto when you have your own record label and have years of production under your belt. Your vain critisms may mean more to me then, but until then.. go back to jerking off in your apartment night after night.

Seb Fontaine made the mistake of trying to play the newest stuff to keep ahead of the game and look what happened to him....
He pretty much emptied Cream!
Ya gotta throw in a few known tracks coz sometimes thats what fires it up. Have you EVER seen a crowd stand still when "Cafe Del Mar" gets dropped?

No, we only expect him to do his job as a DJ. But he doesn't even bother to do that properly anymore.

I care nada for anything Tiesto related nowadays. I just love to argue, especially when I can show the world how utterly clueless and shit arguements like yours are. And, since you mentioned it, I can guarantee you that there are enough established DJs with record labels and several albums under their belts who think Tiesto is just as much of a joke as people on TA do.
