For a change I listen to whatever I find but for a change only. Listening to some of the other music just makes me more hungry for trance
everything BUT trance
i run screaming from the very word.
apart from deepsexyfuturistictechfunkhouse...i am a huge indie fan. it is my first love. only british indie though...can't find many american bands to like apart from interpol and the bravery.
i also like industrial, new wave, gothy 80s stuff and am a huge fan of the shoegazer sound. LOVE IT.

Let's see - first CD I ever owned was "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" by Sarah McLachlan - huge into chick music like Indigo Girls, Tracy Chapman, Tori Amos, Bjork, Melissa Ferrick, basically guitar with vocals stuff. Also alternative rock like Cracker, Garbage, Pearl Jam, STP, U2, REM - the good shit.
When I went to college, I shifted to more rock and classic rock - Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc. as well as some hiphop.
When I moved home, then came the electronic.
But I love music with the exception of country - music is what makes me move everyday.

fITTY C3NT!!!!!!
I pretty much listen to ALMOST everything....
but for partying it is Techno, House, Tribal, Progressive..some breaks....
hate jungle and happy hard core haha!!!!!
I remember hearing on Edge 102 (Dean Blundell Show) about how they found seven songs on the latest Sum 41 album that was similar to other rock bands singles, but the worst were the first single in comparison to this italian guy song that was released a few months before, and it was the exact fuckin song except the italian guys song was with a piano and spoken in italian. I dunno about that, but there should be some sort of retribution for copying other peoples music without giving them some credit.
Im just waiting on The White Stripes CD to come out (just listening to Blue Orchid on repeat for now), and in the meanwhile im listening to Death From Above 1979 and Metric (both Toronto bands boo-yah)...Support the scene! Ontario and Quebec (The Arcade Fire, The Stills, The Dears) are exploding with an incredible rock music scene.

HOUSE ..classic rock like the doors ,pink floyd , zeplin, techno, jazz, dnb and breaks and U2 i loooove them
"besides" would imply that I listen to trance.
okay, i listen to that ferry set from avalon in october, but only in the hot tub.
for me it's house, house, house and rock.
I like to unwind to some Nana Mouskouri.......BoxCar Willie.........Tiny Tim.........Paul Anka........ya know the good classic shit!!

First of all, I HATE commercial music. I have not been impressed with a single chart-topping song in years. They're all annoying, over-produced, not-worth-listening-to crap. Stuff like Sarah Mclachlan is tolerable, but modern rock and hip-hop music just sucks.
I'm really sick of rock music. They've been doing songs with the same 4 instruments for the last 40 years, and it's getting boring. I'm sorry, but guitar, drums, bass, and vocals just don't cut it anymore. Trance would have died very quickly if every track used the same sounding synths. There is so little originality in rock music these days that I just don't enjoy the tracks anymore. The exception is the more electronic fusion type stuff such as Linkin Park, Maralyn Manson, etc. That music is a bit better.
Hiphop has just gone to shit... the same beats, the same riffs, and the same themes... old school hip-hop narratives are the only tracks in that genre that really speak to me.
Music has to have solid melody and harmony for me... genres I really like include:
GOA (the more melodic, the better)!!!
Jungle (not the hard stuff with no melody... I prefer the more trancy, melodic jungle)
Some House (tribal, disco, prog, etc)
Electro
Classical (20th century is my favourite, but some romantic stuff is good too... just keep me away from the Baroque period, which IMO is really boring.)
