lol, in all honesty i can't stand Delta, her music doesn't do anything for me.. but i must say, she is extremely talented with an awesome voice..

Posted by ProDiGaL on Jun-02-2005 04:43:

thats all I wanted to say.

Posted by Aesthetic on Jun-02-2005 04:47:

Worm Popper

Well, Im surprised I like Delta's music myself. I dont go in for that type of music at all.

Im a pure trance-head... nothing but trance love over here (meh, and some house and prog. and techno of course for variety! )

But whut can I say, i simply DO love the shit Delta produced on her first albulm. We dont gots her 2nd one over here yet, so i dunno whut ill think of the sound on that one, but we'll see i suppose

Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeers

i wouldnt mind hearing a few remixes, as long as they weren't too over the top or dj sammy style. maybe satoshi tomeii could do one, that would be cool

Personally, Id prefer a more trance take on her songs than house. (no disrespect to Tomiie tho, that guy lays down some sick shit... went CRAZY to him at Boa here in Toronto back in Jan.)

Im thinking a solid G&D or an Above & Beyond remix to some shit off her first albulm.

i was thinking of those also but i love satoshi's remix of hungry by kosheen and was thinking of something like that some of the songs could probably go good with an armin or a&b kinda sound though

Posted by Sly_Guy on Jun-02-2005 15:09:

I don't even know anything about the vocalist your talking about but with all due respect no one works with hooky, sexy female vocals better than satoshi

Just look at how great kelli ali & satoshi work together in 'love in traffic' or 'up in flames'. Wow.

Delta has a great voice, and amazing talent, but the major problem is that in Australia she is viewed as a bit of a nerd.

She released a line of underwear, but its the kind that the over-50s would buy, and her lack of sex symbol status was made even worse by the fact she got cancer and her hair fell out.

Then was the time she got dumped by the 'poo for Paris, and it was said to be because she was 'boring'. And then you consider she is never more than 10 metres away from her Mum, and then you also think about the fact all her songs are lovey lovey ballads that bore most people to tears, including myself.

Delta needs some spice.

I'd recommend that Delta should spend 6 months on the streets of LA as a crack whore while she learns some culture, sexes herself up a bit and loses the nice girl next door image.

lol werd to that.

not sure her publicist would agree though. it's the good girl image that sells her millions.

her 2nd cd sucked ass.

Posted by Aesthetic on Jun-03-2005 01:27:

pfft.

if you guys wanna see sluts go to a fucking brothel.

its because of you tossers that pop singers have no talent at all, all you're looking for is a crack whore.

agreed. the reason most pop remains so crap is coz its all about image and marketability. that shouldnt have anything to do with music imo. music should always be about how it sounds. not the cup size of the singer

Posted by eRRaTiK on Jun-03-2005 01:38:

LOL!!!

POP is exactly that - marketing.

and face it sex sells. I'm sure I don't need to list the top selling pop artists of recent times for you to agree with that.

not disagreeing at all, but i dont think pop HAS to be about marketing. or at least it shouldnt be. there are some talented vocalists in the pop world. how someone looks shouldnt have a bearing on whether they can succeed in the entertainment environment. i know the opposite is the case, but i reckon thats fvcked and the world is full of shallow, stupid people.

Posted by Aesthetic on Jun-03-2005 01:55:

nah its cause desperate ****s like you encourage it.

if an artist has talent, they will have talent.

sure, it doesn't HAVE to be about marketing, but in the world of pop (in any business really) effective marketing increases their exposure.

very mature response there dave hahaha.

The pop war is primarily waged and won amongst the teenager segment, where it's young females that dominate sales. So the "desperate ****s like you" comment is unjustified.

I would bet that more girls than guys bought spice girls and britney cds. Now if only i knew somebody that would have such statistics.

btw, i was only joking with my initial reply to tobias.

Posted by Aesthetic on Jun-03-2005 03:00:

mature maybe not, honest yes.

the reason why i seldom listen to the radio is because the music is shit.

and what does this have to do with marketing or said talent?

i'm in the same boat. i hate radio commercials also.

Posted by Aesthetic on Jun-03-2005 03:59:

i dunno anth.. you'd just hope that when referring to someone's talent you were referring to their ability in a particular field they participate in.. ie. a sprinter sprints, a painter paints.. but a supposed "music" star is meant to look good above everything else..?

Personally I think that the easiest option to make serious money in pop is to be a Delta Goodrem, which is essentially to produce tacky tear jerker love ballads that will be embraced by the 12 - 18 year old girls that buy singles, and their mums who buy the albums.

If you want to be instantly successful which end of the spectrum between love softish tunes and risky out of the box music would you choose?

Look at the Australian Idol graduates, most of them take the easy route and produce softish music that aims for the highest heart pulling crap factor as possible. Making pussy music that pulls the heart strings is called the easy way out for song writing, as the most manufactured artists around will testify (such as the Australian idol dummies).

All bands and artists know that its the softer songs which sell the most, and any musician with a little integrity will ensure that only say 1 in 10 songs is some lovey dovey romance love ballad that ensures enough sales of their album to support the real music. I have little respect for artists like Delta who aim for the maximum emotional effect with every song they make.

Delta has a decent voice and amazing talent but until she starts producing music that is far away from her current balladic crap and starts to push some boundaries she won't have my respect.

Posted by Aesthetic on Jun-03-2005 06:29:

im confused.. you were encouraging her the other minute to pick up a more of a slutty look have "more spice", now you're requesting that she "push boundaries"..

what boundaries besides those in your pants does she "push" when she "learns some culture, sexes herself up a bit and loses the nice girl next door image."

Posted by ProDiGaL on Jun-03-2005 06:56:

dunno why this is even a discussion, you cant polish shit.

It all comes down to taking some risks I guess.

Playing piano music with love love lyrics whilst displaying some type of angel-like outward image gets old quickly. We are living in 2005, not 1955.

I hold the same opinion of the guys in that group called 'Random' that won the X-Factor show. Great voices, nice guys, but who really likes nice guys these days anyway?

The only way someone like Random are going to be sucessful is if they grow some culture, lose the good boy image, and let loose. Look at artists like Christina and Britney, musicians who traded off their good girl image for a long time, well it is sustainable and its only a matter of time before they realise that you need to be bad to be successful.

So it all comes down to taking some risks, and its only a matter of time before Delta realises this....

to summate - the pop industry is pretty sad
