That may be what you want him to do, but I don't feel the need to demand that he use four decks at once or invent some new way of mixing. What? get a custom Ableton mixer so he doesn't have to beatmatch? Tiesto has never been about that. It's always been about his sound. He's a producer first and the boundaries he pushes are in his productions. He's always experimenting with productions, adding to tracks and tweaking them to his liking. You may not like his tracks, but that is where he focuses his creativity, performances are where he showcases that creativity.

And again, I'm sorry if others have seen him screw up or "half ass" it, but every time I've seen him, I've enjoyed it very much.

I will ask you, in all your shows have you not screwed up. Maybe trainwrek? or just screwed up the levels? Tiesto has been playing that many shows for about a decade now, he's done an awesome job as I see it.

I do think he's a bit overrated and the TICs are pretty much just bloated circus events. But someone has to be no. 1 and he's a good candidate for the extravagant shit he does, he�s an eccentric guy. What do you expect, all of a sudden Holden or Zabelia become no. 1? Tiesto is no. 1 not because he is the absolute best, but BECAUSE HE IS THE MOST POPULAR. For better of for worse, get it strait.

BIG FUCKING DITTO. He is doing too many TICs in the US and it's caused him to cut back on regular shows. He's going to skip my area this year I think and I really don't feel like flying out to LA just to see some idiot with a violin or some emo guy play the piano.

levels no, i'm a producer and spot on levels are a must for me

however, i never said anything about his technical ability, i've heard the man play many times and know he can spin some records, which is why i made my post... like what happened to tiesto? he pulled his head out of his records and shoved it so far up his ass he can see his tonsils, then his ego kicked in, his head inflated and now he can't pull it out

the first time i heard him back in 2001 i think it was (he was only in the top 10 at the time), he blew me away

the big thing i'm trying to get across, don't just go to your gigs and stand there and play records, get into it, show me you actually want to be here instead of "i'm getting paid a lot of money to be here, bow down to me and cheer"

earn your extravagant paycheque, or someone else will

I just listened to it to see if I could spot it. I can't say I hear anything really "off". The lead in "Twelve" has a heavy echo on its percusion. I think that's where people get this idea that the mix isn't spot on.

all i can say is, after each time i've been to a tiesto party, my view of him as a great dj has diminshed... lol.

Last time I saw Tiesto was May 2003, and people were ripping his mixing back then. But I didn't notice any horrible trainwrecks in the 3 or 4 hours he was on the decks.

I bash him because his sets are boring, I rarely look at whether or not a DJ makes a perfect transition as long as he doesn't scratch too much or overuse any effects.

Wonder why the CDs are perfect? The tracklist is picked out beforehand which means he doesn't have to fill requests or think of any tracks on the fly. He can just sit in his studio and practice the transitions a million times.

It's also worked on in a studio meaning if he makes a small mistake they can fix it afterward. How do you know he didn't record 5 sets and then just pick the one with the least screwups? Check out other concert s, they're all planned to a T beforehand. Just because he has good live-recorded CDs doesn't mean that he's any more talented based on the lack of trainwrecks.

To be honest, I really like it when DJs play around with the bass... and when the bassline switches. For some reason, I especially like it in a lot of the Tiesto stuff I hear, when the bass goes from a rumbling, low lazy, type of bass, to something that's a bit jumpier, but a bit distorted. It happens a lot in his switches.

A perfect example of this is in ISOS 4, 24minutes and abotu 10seconds of the way in. I don't knwo why I really do, but I think it's good becasue it takes it away from the constant droning uncahnging doof doof doof doof doof, that's the hallmark of trance. I think it's something producers and DJs alike need to explore a bit more....

It's somethign I'm trying to perfect when I'm mucking around as well, I like playing aroudn with bass, and switching it around a bit between tracks, I usually do it when the bass in the playing track dies down, and when it's about to pop back up again, I change it to the qued track's bass. and so on....

+1 ... never heard him live, but thats my biggest annoyance/irritation about tiestop in the last 2 to 3 yrs. he needs to bang the crowd again with track selections like push - universla anhtem, in stead of some prog track by ahmet ertenu or whatever those prog producers might have for strange names :S

But yes he isn't that good. Can you pick out 1 mix that he has ever done, that has really suprised you, that it was soo good? If you can do that please post a sample.

His Summerbreeze CD didn't have any wrecks in it. Not sure if it was mixed live, but I think he put alot of time into tweaking the transitions on that one.
