Hi, I just registered on this board today and this is the first post I felt I should make.

I'm a breaks DJ myself. A lot of the people here have been recommending the more techy and housey side of breaks, with a few exceptions (well done whoever mentioned the breakfastaz)

There's also a much harder side of breaks, which has grown out of the old skool hardcore sound and jungle / drum and bass, namely tearout and bassline breaks. The UK is the home of this sound (especially South London) and it is well worth checking out (I've been playing it for a couple of months now)

I recommend checking out www.decksterityrecords.com to hear samples of records and www.breaks.fm (3x award winning radio for breaks, and a forum)

Also, check out Burufunk's "Midnight Run". Sick ass track!

Actually, I mentioned a Shiloh track but it was an Elite Force remix. I also like 'Shiloh - Baby (Brutal Mix)' and yes, Midnight Run is a killer track too (especially Merlyn's remix).

That track has the most annoying vocals ever in the history of music! Check out the dub, it's way better.

Roni Size - Share the Fall (Way Out West Remix)

and a host of other stuff they've put their hand to, including original productions (yes, I think they were mentioned earlier in the thread but I gotta reiterate).

my all time favourite breaktrack : Sonic Infusion - Reformatted (General Midi Remix)

The bassline is a bliss!

Correcto, and don't forget "The Gift." You ought to get the album from whence that track comes...in the name of supporting good music.

I can't be bothered reading through 6 pages to find this out but is Hybrid considered to be breaks?

Glad to see people mentioning Habersham, one of my favorites, but don't forget andother great prog breaks artist, Moshic...

Moshic - The Myth of Osiris Part One

in particular is a great track.

Andrew Kelly is also noteworthy...has a set up on Hybridized, well worth checking out... I like his set better than the ones from Digital Witchcraft and Shiloh (which are very good as well).

edit: don't forget Dub Pistols and Distinctive Records' Y4K series (what is it now, 12 installments so far?)

Yes, Hybrid are mostly breakbeats (some of the best in the world, actually). Check out my post near the top of page 4. There is a list of some really great breaks tracks from them.
