why not believe in warm up sets?

Posted by Aesthetic on Jul-25-2005 00:35:

yeah man, a night should be built up not just banging from 11pm, imo.

exactly!

Posted by Anomyst on Jul-25-2005 01:00:

Who said it would be banging...

I have an hour and a half to warm myself up and have fun.

The other guys are experienced enough to keep the night rocking..

My opinion is that a DJ, No matter what time he/she plays should play for himself/herself any way they see fit. Because forsight and knowledge about what will or wont work makes or breaks thier own career. if its about risks, then i am happy to take them, because i feel that my kind of set style would be suitable for any time slot.

Posted by christos on Jul-25-2005 01:11:

well, that's good for you dude and your opinion noted (don't want this thread to get side tracked) - there are times when that rule doesn't apply and your style becomes irrelevant and versatility becomes prevalent, my 2c anyway. I hope you do well all the same with whatever you have planned

ps. don't take this out of context dude, I was just wondering was all

Not taking anything out of context!! i look up to you guys, more than you could imagine!!

I value everyones opinions (now)... recent posts have shown me to understand the value of this. haha

Sorry if i came off too bitey in the past....

Still LUVIN IT!!

P.s and i understand the importance of being versatile.

Posted by Doc Matrix on Jul-25-2005 01:24:

How does all of that work anyway? Do the organisers of the night give you guidelines about how to play based on your time, or is it more just driven by the crowd not being fully into it by 11pm and having to contend with that?

Posted by 00soups00 on Jul-25-2005 01:28:

i think its up to the dj's....

its noticable when a dj bangs it out too early
because the crowd will rock it but then tire quickly
will be interesting to see what benny plays this early
in the night...

whether set progression is paramount or not is really up
to the choice of the people who are putting on the night
and who they choose to play and at what times...
