I don't know, I hope they have kept the Semiotic nights alive at least somewhat. I've been to one or two, they were pretty cool.

did alot of people end up attending?? and how late into the night did it end up going for?

I was trying to see about a house/progressive/trance-only night at one of the pubs, but they were all previously setup with other hip-hop/top40 DJs, that goto YorkU. My girlfriend goes to YorkU (she's a TA now, too: supernova_girl) and we're gonna try again this year. If the night goes as planned, we need loads of support... and lots of alcohol sales... to keep such a night going. Booking TA DJs is a great thing to do as well.

Hey guys signed up coz i saw this post and totally excited about getting trance at York... well I can help out quiet a bit I am sure I go to york more importantly I am the Marketing Coordinator for the York Uni Student Centre which includes the Underground...already spoke to the events coordinator and she would be interested in hearing a proposal from the organizers. Getting signatures is easy it can be done quick....

As for semiotic it ended last year coz not too many peeps showed up... if your looking to do an event it most likely would have to fall on a Wednesday Friday or weekend coz the rest of the days are booked off with events such as Indie Mondays, Karaoke, Dirty bingo etc...but I am sure things can be worked on.....

Enuf rambling I am more than willing to help even with some web space if you need some...

you can email me [email protected]

Cheers
Saq

okay so we are getting some signatures, but I hate to break it to you ppl, but we might have to apply membership fee. NOT ALOT OF MONEY like less then ten dollars. Probably between 5-7 bucks. We still need to figure out the budget for the year so we will keep you updated. We are still figuring things out regarding costs and things, but we do realize that people don't want to spend a lot. University is already expensive enough. So we'll keep you updated on this.

Ok everyone, I want to hear what you think we should be called.

So far what I and Sonia have decided to call our club is:

EMS@York

Which stands for Electronic Music Society.....@ York.

Criticise it all you want but make it constructive, I want to hear some ideas please...and sorry we really cant call it TranceAddict York because that would mean that logo's and any media that is designed would be based off the tranceaddict logo, and personally I think that is a little unoriginal on our part. We would like to represent the university and school spirit..

The start up costs, may be a little more than you think. If we're gauranteed a certain amount of people, it'll be at a certain price, the more sign on, the less each membership will become. And from what Peter and I worked out, we're looking at a figure a littler more than yours but less than cover charge at most clubs, (ladies are sadly not free at this club )

We'll see, but we can always fundraise as well. Also we do get some money not much but some money from York. So we'll see.
