Apple uses intel chips FYI.

As for the stability of linux or *nix even, i think as a core OS its efficient, but its not something "user friendly". meaning to market linux like windows will take a whole generation switch. It's like moving from a pc to a mac. Not many people are comfortable doing so.

as for linux mandrakesoft and ubuntu have made tremendous progress in developing user interfaces for linux that are very simple allowing even the novice computer users to install a basic linux box.

as for gentoo's package and install management program called portage, there is NOTHING like it for windows or mac.

A few years back my brother was having computer problems and one time when it froze for the 10th time in an hour he took it outside to the street and chucked it like 20 ft into the air and let it crash into the pavement, picked it up and threw it right into the ground. He came inside and said damn that felt good

Im about a few weeks away from doing it to this p.o.s.

maybe im just a nerd but you know you can format those things and make them run faster and if not you can salvage the pieces and then toss it. save you some loot

i haven't ran a clea install since redhat days. i think i've done a mandrake install before too dont really remember. im not a fan of linux, i ran a file server off a redhat box 2yrs ago and it would crash on literally every 25days. where as the windows FTP server i've kept up for months on end with reboots, but never any hard crashes.

were they the same box? i guess each box is different so it could have been some hardware stuff. i don't really care for redhat anymore. there have been significant advances elsewhere and i think they have been pretty much stagnant. they tried fedora but i'm not sure thats working for them.

No, the guy actually had it overclocked to that speed. I believe that he was using either LN2 or vapochill, though.

Okay guys, the problem is fixed. I am running my own window XP without a problem at the moment. Right now I am just updating some drivers and essential software.

Thanks for all your help

LOL - if you ever need anything it would seem that you have your own private IT dept right here on NYTA.

Just watch out for kid nyce and his remotely administrated L0phT Crack - by using a strong P@s$w0rD!
