Sorry I can't watch this match, But I'll surely record it so that I can see it after Atletico Madrid Vs. Real Madrid. Porto has always been my favourite team in Portugal.

0-2. In a very even game, Nuno Gomes scored both in two defensive errors much thanks to a completely clueless Bosingwa. Unsurprisingly, Bruno Alves was also a complete idiot by heading Nuno Gomes for no reason at all, was well sent off.

Braga leads the table now, followed by Nacional. We're third but Sporting could overtake us by winning tomorrow. Benfica is one point behind us.

Braga of all teams, What's happened with this league? :|

It's not a problem with the league, thing is Braga has been one hell of a team for the past 7-8 months, they were very very unlucky to get knocked out by Red Star in the UEFA Cup. They've been losing important players over and over again, yet it never gets reflected in their results. Their defence is great, just conceded their first goal in this round - the left-back Jorge Luiz is most likely the best in his position in the entire league.

I saw them playing in Belgrade on Stadion Marakane and it was a pretty even match between the two teams. It ended up in a draw 0-0, But Red Star scored a away goal in Portugal and got through because of that..

I thought that the Serbian league was pretty weak, Even though Red Star always has been my favourite team in Serbia & Montenegro. I thought they would be out of the UEFA Cup after the away match in Portugal, But no, They survived - That's a pretty nice effort.

I didn't saw the first leg but saw the second: Red Star scored a lucky goal in the first half and were totally dominated the entire game. Not to take away the merit of Red Star, the keeper in particular did an awesome game, and they were effective with their chances. It is true that in theory our league should be stronger than the serbian and Braga should have done enough to go through. But that doesn't prove anything about the quality of the league, or do you think the spanish league is weak since Getafe was the leader?

Red Star was the better team in Belgrade even though it was even. They did not score a goal, And Braga managed to get a tie.

I would rather like to say that Getafe is a very good team so far, They've really got some quality players that's better than the rest of the squad. It's also pretty nice to see that Red Stars goalkeeper was very good in Portugal, At the moment, He's only a talented goalkeeper that's playing in the Serbian U-21 team. I also think that the Serbian teams has become way stronger in Europe the last 3 years, Just take a look at Partizan's great appereances in the CL even though they did not get through, They've got some very good players for sure.

Just to add something to Getafe: They've won against Atletico Madrid away and also home against Valencia, That's very good, Indeed

yay

that is all

Posted by nettwerk on Oct-17-2005 21:31:

At the beginning of the game I thought that we were bound to lose. But then, Porto's defense decided to give away free gifts... and it wasn't even Christmas. And we managed to kill a 14-y.o. "tradition".
Allez

I saw Bruno Alves stupid tackle today on Eurogoals and after seeing that I've got to say that he's a idiot - Why would you do something like that?

Posted by noikeee on Oct-19-2005 21:04:

This game was totally fucking awesome.

One owngoal and one deflected shot. Against saved one-on-ones, balls in the post, a shitload of corners all falling into the heads of Inter forwards (when we didn't have a single corner in the entire match). I doubt we even deserved a draw. But winning like this against an italian team.. is just priceless.

I was very curious to see Marek Cech playing and he did an excellent debut, looks like we might have a real left-back but this was only one game so can't judge properly, players often make great debuts then disappear. It also looks like finally we have a real defensive midfielder with Paulo Assuno doing another great exhibition.

Also, Rangers drawing at home with Artmedia I'm starting to think Artmedia are a real threat and may qualify to the next round..

Next game here in Madeira, in Nacional's "stadium" (capacity = THREE thousand ), a chance to recover a 2nd place in the league. However this isn't exactly the most confortable team for us to play, since last year they humillated us with a scandalous 4-0 win at Drago..

I can't believe that you were nervous about Inter kicking Porto's ass. I have to add that Artmedia is growing all the time since they got through with that penalty-drama against Partizan in the Champions League qualifier.

Anyways, Their pretty good atm and sure, They can make it through.

I think this game despite the result confirmed my concerns. The amount of times Inter players appeared umarked on corners, or in one-on-ones was unreal. They were just very unlucky not to score.

I forgot to talk about Quaresma's game tonight, he did pretty well.

Posted by The_G0dfather on Oct-19-2005 21:55:

well congrats on the win, Adriaanse needed it

Forgot to comment on yet something else: those animals Julio Cruz and Ivan Cordoba. They've done enough in this game to be sent off twice, I can't believe they managed to end the game in the field.

OK. Inter was given the chances without scoring any goals, It's pretty bad to miss everything if it was just like you're describing it. Unfortunately, I did not see the game.

I really think that this is positive for the Italian teams, They've got to start play way better too win a single game in the Champions League.

where's Fabio ? i mean Ben

Posted by InterMilan31 on Oct-20-2005 13:34:

Damn we really should've won this match considering recent form I believe Porto has been awful as of late b4 this match correct? I thought for sure we would kill you guys considering how we handled Livorno on Sunday yes it was Livorno but we had no Adriano and some others that match and really played overly well is that proper enlish ah well fuck it.

BTW that kid on Benfica who scored Tues is nice!

Plus this loss blasts the group wide open I still see Inter qualify but all their matches are technically away matches(empty stadiums)....

Paranoik gets revenge on my flamming of him and Porto lately

Yep, Manuel Fernandes is on great form right now. He's very good defensively, marked Riquelme very well, but also good technically and great on long range shots/finishing. If he keeps playing like this he'll be on the World Cup for sure.

Posted by noikeee on Oct-23-2005 23:24:

tonight: Nacional 0 FC Porto 1

Goal by Hugo Almeida: great header after a great cross from Quaresma, who did an excellent game again. These guys are on fire.

We're back to 2nd place. Here's the top of the table:

1. Sp. Braga 20
2. FC Porto 17
3. Benfica 16
4. Nacional 15
5. Sporting 13
6. Boavista 13
7. Rio Ave 13
8. Vit. Setbal 13

Next games:

Wednesday 26: Marco (home), Portuguese Cup
Sunday 30: V. Setbal (home), Portuguese League
Tuesday 1: Inter (away), Champions League
Sunday 6 (?): P. Ferreira (away), Portuguese League

Posted by noikeee on Oct-30-2005 23:50:

Poor week. First a marginal win by 1-0 against 2nd League side FC Marco. Then an uninspiring 0-0 against an ultra-defensive Setbal. The good thing is that Benfica and Sporting conceded draws as well. But if Braga wins tomorrow, they get a 5 points lead.

1. Sp. Braga 20 (-1 game)
2. FC Porto 18
3. Nacional 18
4. Benfica 17
5. Sporting 14
6. Boavista 14
7. Rio Ave 14
8. Vit. Setbal 14
