Fucking hell.

I'm sorry, but I have to intervene. I find it hard to believe some internet key punching nobody from who knows where has all the magical answers as to how someone becomes largely successful at spinning records. Want to know how to sell out countless crowds and rise to the top of the DJ charts?? Want to make millions?? ASK THIS ORY GUY!! He has ALL the answers!!! All you have to do is spin records and hire a good promotional team!! It's as easy as programming a microwave! Shit man, why aren't we all as famous as him then?? Drop your ego trip.

oh man i think ur respect is more important to Tiesto, more important than being the no 1 DJ.

LOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!

he does have a point though. im not arguing that tiesto doesnt work hard. i know its VERY hard work for the body & the mind especially travelling all over the globe living from hotel to hotel suitcase to suitcase. but a HUGE part is a WELL CONNECTED promotional/marketing team. lets take britney spears as an example. is she a "talented" musician? i think i can speak for all of us and say NO. BUT, shes HUGE because of her marketing team & a pretty face (which is DEFINITELY debateable). so dont be naive and think that he is where he is because of his talent & talent alone.

Absolutely it takes an amazing sales and promotion team to sell out crowds well. Of course Tiesto didn't make it where he is solely on his skill level. In any business, no matter what product you have, if you don't have a good sales division, you aren't going to sell a thing. Sales aside however, talk to any respectable DJ and they will tell you Tiesto is a VERY skilled DJ AND producer. I love progressive and breaks and techno, but one thing I hate about some prog/breaks people is the fact that they write off any trance DJ as "terrible" just because of the style of music he spins. Those people need to shove a stick up their ass and recognize talent when they see it.

i just like the big circle thing.

it doesnt take a rocket scientist to play & mix records together. tiesto's production is another story. ive never really paid any attention to his work or read the fine print in each sleeve to see IF INFACT he is the one who produced it, wrote it, engineered it etc etc.

lets take sasha for example. up until recently a lot of his production wasnt actually "his" & his alone. he had a phenomenal team which played a MAJOR role in his brilliant production. music that to this day has remained timeless and can be listened to & heard for many mnay many years to come. nothing cheesy, music that is so brilliant its in a league of its own. but it was his "team" that made this possible. sasha had the idea and his team painted the picture.

i dont really know if this applies to tiesto. maybe, maybe not can someone out there can confirm this. also, id like you to recomommend me a track that tiesto has made to back up this claim that he is a "very skilled" producer. id like to listen to it

thanks

You're right on point for this, this is nothing more than a retard circus show and people call it magik why because theres all this shitty performes and stuff that has nothing to do with EDM, its about the music and thats one thing stupidasstiesto (can say his name alone sounds annoying) is not able to do.

Posted by NuDarkBeat on Jul-30-2005 17:18:

Here goes Ory once again. Your bashing him for playing other people's records? So then what you want him to produce all of his own music for his sets? HAHA you never even think about what you say.

Richard @ Release,
I'm a huge fan of release records, namely Angus Robinson. I listen to Futurized Radio every Monday, and I love it!

As for Sasha, I'm not sure I understand your "team" claims? Airdrawndagger is a relatively old (2002) album, and I am under every impression that the album was co-produced by Sasha and James Holden. I've never heard of Sasha's team (..?) being involved.

anyway, when i say his team i mean all the people involved i.e. charlie may, junkie xl & yes, holden is another (in the airdrawndagger). ive read articles where sasha has admitted that his airdrawndagger album was a HUGE lesson in production and thanked all those involved (co-producers) whole played a HUGE part in making that album possible.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaalrightry, im off to enjoy some sunshine

give me a tiesto track so i can listen to it and see what i think

Sasha does have somebody that often helps him produce his tracks, but I cant recall the name ATM.

Posted by Floorfiller on Jul-30-2005 17:41:

i guess i just think its really sad that he can sell out shows like that...i mean...he's just a dj...if he was actually a real artist i could understand, but he's not anything special...

Tiesto got where he is through the same route that all the top DJs did. He made big productions. It has sweet FA to do with "marketing" or "promotion". It's all about the records he made. All.

Oh alright, I see what you're saying. I love Airdrawndagger, awesome album.

A Tiesto track...hmmm....Urban Train? What are some of his classics?

Reeeeeeally? ANY respectable DJ? I'm pretty sure half of the techno genre snob dj's would insult Tiesto if asked that..

hey asshole...i'm not saying i'm anybody

i'm merely saying if this was some kind of great live show and tiesto was some great artist...then i could see paying to go see something like this, but he's not. he is a dj...at this time in the music scene i can't justify paying that much to see ANY dj. its just a little ridiculous. i mean seriously what is so special about this show in comparison to any other show in a club? its in a stadium? its longer? there are some stupid arcobats? so fuck all of you that like to use the excuse that "we aren't anybody bla bla"...that's not the point.

the fact that i don't particularly like his productions these days is secondary to the fact that the whole idea and concept of a single dj doing this is stupid...

Watch your mouth.

You know the great thing about the whole thing is, nobody gives a f*ck about your spineless opinions that lack any sort of substance whatsoever. You sound like an angry teenager. Go paint your nails black, wear makeup, and go cry in a corner. Your argument about him being "just a DJ" is pathetic. The president of the United States is "just a president." The Beetles were "just a rock band." A Ferrari is "just a car." Your logic is "just plain bullshit." A Tiesto concert, or any "just a DJ" show will be better off without your "fuck all end all" attitude. Stupid acrobats, stupid stadiums, stupid DJs, etc etc. Look in the mirror, sounds like you have personal issues.
