uh NAY..
he just got VERY lucky in a time when trance was rising..at its peak....he worked his ass off to get up there yes..but not for his fiproducing;...producing isnt something you watch someone else produce for you and say "yes i like it"..please....just making countless appearances is what got his fame.
anyway, tiesto will be there always..as the DJ we all know..but everyone wants something different...times change..people change..music changes.

I have been a pure Tiesto fan since 2002, i thought he was the god of DJs but since then he has just got more and more commercial (DJ'ing at the olympics wtf is that about?) I'm sorry to say it but i think his reign is coming to an end. The new breed of DJ's such as zabiela and halliwell are taking over, because their ability on the decks is far greater than tiesto's. I also dont think Armin is going to get no1 this year, imo he is boring.

yes but uve got to remember that the dj poll is done on popularity not dj skills take tiesto out of the equation and armin is probably the most commercial dj out there so he will win.

Because the publicist's hype outgrew the fan base?

It's easy to knock on the guy when he's so popular but what would you do in his shoes? Sure, he has a big team and PR engine behind him and that was a HUGE factor in getting him where he is/keeping him up there. There are many talented artists who are stuck dealing with shady agencies/label fiascos and get bogged down in the logistics of it all to never get 1/10th the attention Tiesto gets. Now that he is there he's milking it for what it's worth - as anyone else would do. It's a tough balancing act between being the #1 DJ and attempting to hang on to your 'underground' roots - if anything I have to give him a lot of credit for the Olympics gig since it brought that sound to millions of ppl who have never been exposed to it (even if they didn't know what they were listening to).

He mentioned to me last year about threads in MD that slagged him and while everyone is entitled to an opinion some of you have to lay off on the personal slags and keep it on topic - the music.

That's all.

Why is it any time someone slams Oakenfold, they are an affront to trance or a n00b or otherwise ungrateful for the pioneers of trance? Is it like being an American and not celebrating thanksgiving?

Did I say he doesnt deserve credit? no.

Did I say Kraftwerk doesnt deserve credit? no.

Do I like either of them? no.

The only thing that Oakey even did that surprised me was play the odd Hallucinogen track here and there. Thats was about as interesting as he ever got for moi. Sure... play some goa for the kiddies. Nice one bro, your a fucking legend.

DJ's are over rated anyway.

hahaha! That is amazing!

Shame / Disagreement

One word..........Olympics.............its with any genre ....many people start to hate an artist or dj when they become more and more well known....people like the fact that hes making great music down in his basement instead of becoming a huge sell-out

Sometimes i think that people would rather there be no music than have someone else find out about that secret single pressing of an elusive bongo track from a few millenia ago.
