Right about now it's probably a good job that that isn't the case.

I'd beat up all you elitist pricks and one clown.

Posted by noikeee on Aug-03-2005 23:52:

i'd brainwash ferry corsten into leaving epic and remotely-electro-sounding crap and starting a whole new retro ambient/classic trance revival. but better. with deep and techy bits, and a more creative and innovative goal overall (it's so good to talk this shit out of my arse, like people don't ever try to be creative and innovative at all).

then we'd be able to say "epic trance is dead, ferry corsten killed it"

ok, terrible attempt at joke, but it would be sweeeeeeeeet

- I would stop Tiesto from doing TIC series.
- I would go back in time 3-4 years ago and witness all the great classics that were played during clubs in the period of time.
- I would make PvD and Tiesto friends and make them produce a few tracks together.
- I wouldnt let Tiesto receive the nr.1 DJ in the world three times in a row.
- I would make Ferry produce more tracks under the Gouryella alias.

Thats all i can think of now.
wow its ironic how much he hates tiesto ....yet is obsessed with Gouryella ROTFL

Change the name of what people consider trance these days to something else entirely. Eurotech, or Megalift or something catchy but in no way associated with trance. That way all the jaded Trancers can get on with their underground while the Eutotekkers define some sort of fluffy niche for themselves in the mainstream.

Oh, and I'd make Armin, Tiesto, Ferry and PvD strip off naked infront of each other just to see who has the bigger penis before making them fight to the death to decide... WHO... IS.... KING!!!

Whats ironic about that? Im not obsessed with Gouryella, and I dont hate Tiesto. So your wrong!

Posted by Abhay on Aug-04-2005 03:29:

make sure there always atleast 1 trance track in teh top 20s. this track should always be from really good, and well-experienced underground artists.

Then, make sure that the line between underground and commercial is strong, and make sure that the popular track in that CD, is with other more commercially sounding tracks (but not completely commercial) tracks by that artists.

hence, a person buying that album, gets drawn into the better side of trance...

that artist should continue to make like 1 album out of every 3-5 a commercially one.

Hmm... seems like Tiesto might be doing htat...

who knows....

I would have producers use more original ideas, instead of recycling the same sounds over and over as some modern producers do (and I will admit to liking some of them still). I just think that trance does need some mainstream attention, especially from those who listen to a lot of hip hop, pop and rock music. One idea would be to implement more live instruments and have a more organic feel to it, as in more bands like Faithless (they were pretty successful with their live acts, even though they aren't all trance). More trance artists releasing full length albums would help, not just big name DJs like Tiesto, Armin or Ferry Corsten. More CD singles released for the masses, more radio play, more reconginition in the US...and some more vocal orientated stuff (not the chessy shit that is played on Top 40 radio). More people i've met prefer vocal music to instrumental, even though I personally prefer instrumental (but like vocal as well....).

I TOTALLTY 100% AGREE WITH YOU... particularily the live instruments...

that chicnae set on TA sounds so good, purely because of teh live insstruments.

I'm gonna thread a start about real instruments in trance.

Yeah I love Trance with live instruments, esepcially guitars. I love Mark Otten's stuff, and some other trance artists that use guitars. I really enjoy Chicane's stuff too, I have no idea what happened to Chicane though....it's been 5 years since his last album and only two new singles (Love On The Run...that I think sucked) and Daylight, whom i've only heard the ATB Remix of...and it was a little bit better than Love On The Run but was a remix so I dunno how the original sounds. I have no idea when or if his new album is gonna be released.....

I like the idea of making it so that the production's focus was towards the set and not just a single, kinda like techno. Dutch trance would be outlawed, especially if it has a breakdown of any kind. Dutch producers should loose any privilidges of breakdowns. Progressive trance would be more progressive, and by progressive, I mean that the track actually progresses, just like back in the day. Nothing produced would have any resemblance to the shit being produced today, how can people listen to trance today? So uninspiring.

Posted by basd on Aug-04-2005 07:29:

I like the idea of Dutch producers quitting At least the epic and mcprog ones, nothing even half decent has come out of their Reason copies anyway.

As much as I have abandoned listening to trance in the past few years, steering it more towards the sound of early Hook and Platipus releases would definitely get me interested again.

I would implement the original ideas of trance. to make it hallucinating tracks whith basic tribal elements. such as the old Dance 2 Trance tunes.
If you listen to trance today one would wonder how a pop tune can be called trance. A trance tune is supposed to put you in a higher state of concioussness and awaken your spirituality and open your mind.

I would also prevent the closing of Eye Q Records.

I cant understand why people want trance to be more commercial. It was never intended to be commercial. The music will not become better because its more commercial. Just because more people listen to it doesnt make it automaticly better.
I recall DJ Taucher saying in an interview a couple of years ago that he never wanted to make a radio edit because that would kill the idea of trance music. A 10 min long journey CANNOT be recovered in a 3 min edit.

yeah and I would also wish that Sasha never started his sleepy prog/electro shit and stayed progressive trance.

Why don't you want people to listen to stuff you like? Why is it bad for good trance to go mainstreme?

While that's true, going mainstreme means there will be more producers because of more fans so even though there will be a lot of so so tracks, there will be quite a few good tracks too. Eventually new ideas will come to trance like it did to almost all music.

No, but doing that work enables me to not have to make obnoxious commercial music to survive.

(NP: Dance 2 Trance - Purple Onions )
