Holy shit!!! You're the only one to have posted in this thread for two years and still kept it going, despite no-one answering. Man, now that's determination. I'm gonna download one of those sets just because of that.

I don't need a reply to see the shows are being downloaded from here. I can tell by the number of thread views there are and my server logs show me how many as well.

Replies are nice and they give a person a certain boost, but really, as long as I see the thread is getting action of any sort I'll keep it up to date.

Cheers for trying a show out too. If there's something you prefer let me know and I'll direct you to a show # that may be up your alley. They are pretty varied and across the board. If you like Techno > House >Electro I'll be able to cover you.

Re: Bleep 76: Trevor Wilkes

I tried the tech-house mix from Setember. It's a bit heavier than the sort of stuff I usually listen to, can't say I like certain vocals, etc, but it's pretty clear the tracks were carefully chosen for the purpose, high quality stuff.

Sorry that I can't give much feedback on the mixing, as I rarely pay attention to it, but the flow of the set seemed good on first listen, made perfect sense. The only thing I thought was out of place was the last track and the way it was brought in. It seemed like you were going for a deep/nostalgic/slow end of the set, then all of a sudden a banging beat is brought on the top of it again.

Final remark:

Bleep's goal is to bring quality dance-floor music, music without it's head up it's arse, to areas where it's seemingly lacking. Stale music has taken over and needs to move over. Variety is one component of Bleep, but only one of many. Look forward to hearing many forms of Electronic music with labeling of the sub-genres firmly ignored. We need less labels, not more. Techno is the label that Bleep assumes, but it's the Techno label of days gone by...with a sense of humour.

Hell I don't even pay attention to the mixing
With Bleep I don't plan it ahead. I just start playing and hit record. So sometimes when I hit the time limit it's not at a 'ending sort a vibe'. It happens from time to time. I don't sweat it though.

When I started playing this time around I didn't expect to use it as a Bleep show. I was just playing some records that arrived in the mail that day. Hence the multiple tracks on the two Borft records being played. The Electro near the end is explained by Sylvia, my girlfriend, coming into the room. She comes in the ol' music room so rarely I always try to play a few tunes she likes to keep her there. It sorta worked...

The haul back up into the saddle has begun.

I've got my heart set on keeping it loud and abrasive for the next month or so at least. I've finally weened myself off of my less distorted shelves of music. Of course the bevy of new releases in the last month or two have helped swing back over. In a span of only 2 months just about every Label or Artist that I enjoy has put something new out. Those releases have led to some marathon jams here at home and it's only going to get better.

This show was done up in a similiar way to another recent one. The next day after playing out I tipped the records out of the bag and put them into the same order i played them the previous night. For those of you who have been here before...you should know by now the Electro sets are Girlfriend induced. Not that I'm complaining, merely imparting background.

I haven't grabbed too much new stuff since my last Electro outing, but what I have grabbed was tossed into the same heap as a bunch of old stuff that had a similiar feel to it. Listen. Understand.

Bleep 91: Trevor Wilkes

Bleep 91
Aired: December 27th, 2007
Mixed by: Trevor Wilkes (CA) / Fun in the Murky / Bleep Radio

For those of you that ask for it, here's another thrasher. Plenty of gusto, wham and Unf. Two by two followed by some skip to my loo and finished off with an old school stabby thing. Rock on party people.

Also by request instead of track numbers I'll hopefully be doing the approximate track times instead. I'll try to start doing the comments again as well, although that ones tougher to do. With Bleep being weekly again I'm running out of time to make the mixes, let alone comment each track. When an eighth day of the week is voted in everything you ask for will follow.

Bleep 92: Dj NK

Bleep 92
Aired: January 3rd, 2008
Mixed by: Dj NK (CA)

Tonight's Bleep (#92) is one that harks back quite a bit for me. Dj NK was playing out fairly often in Toronto when I first started going out regularly. So I heard him quite often and most memorably at his 'Liquid Addrenaline' parties.

This set is one he passed over to me after I asked him if he had any of his old mixtapes still around. This specific tape was used to promote Liquid Adrenaline's party 'Time Warp 3' which was back in August of 1998. After nearly 10 years there are parts of the tape that didn't perhaps age as well as others, but on a whole I still really enjoy this mix. It's also been a few years since I heard Flipside...I'd forgotten all about him until he popped up during the first few tracks in this mix.

Bleep 93: Trevor Wilkes

Bleep 93
Aired: January 10th, 2008
Mixed by: Trevor Wilkes (CA) / Fun in the Murky / Bleep Radio

Bleep 93 starts off like it has a destination in mind, but quickly turns into a free for all. I guess I was in a wandering aimlessly sort of mood at the time. I also dipped into the 45s this week. Only one made the cut and even then right at the end, but that's fine. I've been tossing the idea around of doing a whole mix of em though. See how 'Techno' I could make an hour of 50's-70's rock sound...?

Ok, maybe not for Bleep. But don't be surprised if you do see it on FitM in the future.

Bleep 94: Mustard Gunn

Bleep 94
Aired: January 17th, 2008
Mixed by: Mustard Gunn (UK) / Coin Operated Records

There was a super secret mathematical formula that was used to figure out when Thomas Coleman AKA Mustard Gunn would strike next on Bleep Radio.

His first show was Bleep #53 so using 53 as a starting point I completely invented a lot of arbitrary things until enough time had passed for him to send in another one. Quite tricky and hard to follow I know.

Those of you who are alert will remember that Thomas is the proprietor of Coin Operated Records and the Coin Operated Events both of which are based in the UK. Being all awesome on the wrong side of the pond as I. Ah well. I get to live vicariously through the 'net with mixes like this and the records he puts out.

Bleep 95: Norman

Bleep 95
Aired: January 24th, 2008
Mixed by: Norman Mller (DE) / Dj Norman

I'm very pleased to say that tonight's show is by Norman Mller[discogs]. That might not be a name you are familiar with, but if you were to leave it to me, his material would be force fed.

I first noticed Norman's stuff on Feinwerk and jumped all over it the very second the needle hit the groove. Very distinct, very fresh and very fun to play or listen to. The word on the street is that he also has a forthcoming ep on Don't records run by Jerome Hill. I'm stoked.

Aired: January 31st, 2008
Mixed by: Vadim Savchenko AKA Vadz (RU) / Myspace / Discogs

pic: Da-N1liy

I'm pretty sure anyone who keeps up with Bleep knows who Vadz is. His first show for me was and still is a record holder for most downloads in the Bleep series of mixes. He's also someone whose material I've come to quite enjoy. It's Techno done right; influenced by the past and void of genre cubicle pretension.

Enjoy Vadz' 2nd Bleep show and keep your eyes peeled for his constant Digital releases. They're always high calibre stuff.

Bleep 97: Trevor Wilkes

Bleep 97
Aired: February 7th, 2008
Mixed by: Trevor Wilkes (CA/Toronto Area) / Fun in the Murky

Tonight's Bleep is something I recorded back in mid-December. I had that spate of guest mixes that only let up this week. So it's time to start working on the backlog of shows I recorded.

I don't think there'll be too many before the next guest mix though as One was sent in today and the Nasty Colour tribute with mixes by Dj Urbe, Dj Dro San and Dj Mem should be in soon as they're just as excited about it as I am.

Variety is one component of Bleep, but only one of many. Look forward to hearing many forms of Electronic music with labeling of the sub-genres firmly ignored. We need less labels, not more. Another week, another mitt full of tunes I rather enjoy. I've probably listened to this show about 25 times in the last 3 weeks. It's going to end up burnt for car rides any day now. I just need to get my ass in gear and fire up Nero.

Bleep 100: Dj Urbe, Dj Dro San & Dj Mem

Bleep 100
Aired: February 28th, 2008
Mixed by: Dj Urbe Myspace / Dj Dro San Myspace / Dj Mem Myspace

Nasty Colour Djs and artists contributed mixes for a very big Bleep 100 (The Leep Bleep!). Dj Urbe, Dj Dro San and label head Dj Mem each put together a 1 hour mix which combine to make up the Bleep 100 show. The Dj Urbe and Dj Mem portions are Techno mixes spanning the ages while Dj Dro San's is the Nasty Colour tribute. I'd like to say the good Techno sets bookend the Nasty Colour set, but I feel that would imply the Nasty Colour set isn't good. or as good at any rate. When it most definitely is. I've got the entire catalog of Nasty Colour am quite fond of the label. If you like Techno with Chicago and Wonky/Oddball influences than look no further.

Bleep 101: Sheffield Bleep

Bleep 101
Aired: March 6th, 2008
Mixed by: Sheffield Bleep (UK) / Sheffield Bleep

The moniker 'Sheffield Bleep' shouldn't be too unfamiliar to those of you who are alert. I've posted up two of his previous mixes [here and here] and from what I can tell via comments and server stats they've gone over very well and that's ignoring the fact that this is a minor mirror of them. They get more attention I'm sure via his own server.

Anyway, I enjoyed those mixes so much I had to get in touch with this guy and request something more. This Acid House mix was his gracious reply to me concerning a Bleep spot. Top notch selection of history here.

Bleep 102: Trevor Wilkes

Bleep 102
Aired: March 13th, 2008
Mixed by: Trevor Wilkes (CA) / Fun in the Murky / Bleep Radio

As I've done before, I re-recorded a set from a night out. My audio recorder broke last year and since I haven't found a suitable replacement yet this is the best I can do.

I had a great time playing at a local place two weeks ago so the next day when I got up I popped open the record box and played the same records over again, but with record pressed.

For those of you who catch Bleep fairly often you'll see a good handful of mixes in here that you've heard in other shows, combined with other series of mixes I've used before. This is a good example of remembering and using small series of mixes that work and combining them with other series of records that I've found to go well. Of course it's not all of that nature. Some of it was new that week and was thrown in to test out. Paul Birken's "Sleep Deprived" for example. I can't stress how much I plan on abusing this track so I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Bleep 103: Dj Loz

Bleep 103
Aired: March 20th, 2008
Mixed by: Dj Loz (UK) / No Data Available

Dj 'Superstar' Loz makes his return to the Bleep radio stage. This time around he tried out a little twist on the usual. Slowed down Wonk no double-timed half speed. Err...or something. It's about 3/4 of the tempo you're probably used to, but since it still catches my ear and you're all to be subjected to my every whim (ho ho!), it's being sent your way.

Bleep 104: BeNi

Bleep 104
Aired: March 27th, 2008
Mixed by: BeNi (DE) / Myspace

BeNi and I spoke about a Bleep show....a LONG friggin time ago. So I was quite pleased when he --out of no where-- popped back into the picture to declare he had a special treat for Bleep, myself and thusly all of you.

This is his first 'studio mix' in 2+ years. it clocks in at just about 2 hours and contains a VERY healthy assortment of new-school, old-school, nu-school and whatever else fits. This is a Techno mix in virtually every sense I would call it one (ok maybe it's missing a bit of house to round the corners).

Cheers go out to BeNi for sure on this one.

BeNi on discogs, myspace

Look for BeNi's releases, remixes and future works on Zinch, Antikonsum, Null, Tonewrecker and Bombtrap. All of which are right respectable labels of which I buy on sight.

Cristian Vogel and Ben pest make up The Black E. They have one Ep that has been released [ Found on the Foundry Floor ] and more to come I hope.

This set isn't the highest quality or clarity. It was recorded via microphone. So you can imagine it has some muffle to it. However, if Cris was willing to share it I wasn't about to say no. You can see the logic of my ways right? Anyway, enjoy it for what it is --one of the best sets of Bloc?-- or don't. It's your call. When I'm listening to it I try to think of it as a really old mixtape that is on it's last legs...Adds a nostalgia factor into the mix which I found suited the odschool 'ish' these two create on the fly as they're playing.

"...when the Black E play, we just jam that shit on the boxes - its all improvised on stage - there's something that resembles a track off the EP, and also a new track called Chimi Churri - its all played on 2 Korg ESX1 ' s , a Casio RZ1 and a Yamaha DX200 - the guest vocal in the middle is my wife, Onne G"

So there you have it. The formula for world domination.

Bleep Info:
Next Weeks Show: Jerome Hill

Bleep's goal is to bring quality dance-floor music, music without it's head up it's arse, to areas where it's seemingly lacking. Stale music has taken over and needs to move over. Variety is one component of Bleep, but only one of many. Look forward to hearing many forms of Electronic music with labeling of the sub-genres firmly ignored. We need less labels, not more. Techno is the label that Bleep assumes, but it's the Techno label of days gone by...with a sense of humour.

Everyone is highly encouraged to ask questions or comment about Bleep mixes. All questions will be answered. Help will be given. Direction will be shown.
