If you admit you like him, the balls now outta your court and in his. He knows you like him, but does he infact like YOU??!?!? This is whuat scares many chicks (and guys of course too)!

If you admit to your feelings to him or her, you feel like you've said I like you, but he or she may not say that, and that'll hurt... so ppl wanna try to protect themselves and only hint at it w/o actually saying it... they perceive this as somehow not opening themselves up as much because some mystery is left and they dont feel so exposed!! Feeling exposed and vulnerable is the key scary thing ppl usually always try to avoid!

Thats more likey why in this society ppl dont always (or usually) come right now and say it.

-jem-

And that's exactly what's wrong with ppl's attitudes... thinking too much with their logical brain. Oh, I'm gonna get hurt, Oh, I can't expose myself, Oh, I can't admit to this and that...

If people were just honest with themselves for once, with their true desires, what a beautiful world this would be. But no... why don't we postpone that pleasure, and not just postpone it but suffer because of it too.

Just fucken go out there, get what you want, do what you feel is right and everyone will be happy.

As for the games people play... it's mostly unsecure women that do that and wussy ass men who need the approval of those unsecure women

I used to be exactly like that. Not good times.

Flirting is just a sales pitch. It's really not anything to brag about - if you can't seal the deal then your efforts are worthless. Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with it, I just don't think it's something to be proud of. Why bother with the sales pitch if you left the merchandise at home? The only plausible reason I can think of is practice for the real thing. But if you take a genuine interest in other people, then you don't need the lame sales pitch in the first place.

I agree with you.. ppl should just go w/ their feelings more, and think less and just try to make themselves happy. Over-thinking in these situations is whut leads to ppl not moving on who they like and letting happiness often pass them by at times when it doesn't need to.

Always make yourself happy. Do it for yourself. Looking back and wishin' you HAD done something just sucks. I don't like that feeling rotting at my brain!

*smile* and have confidence ppl.

To put an another spin on this, flirting may be a biological and psychological response for some humans to attract potential mates, ie if they want to, they can find a mate. Flirting may be just human version of some 'games' that some animals play, like peacocks spreading their tails or even birds singing to attract mates.

So, it behooves for those people who do want to eventually settle down to... hone their flirting skills, because it is a primary way for a person to get another person to be attract to him or her.

That is easier said then done for some people. People like myself who are intraverts have a very difficult time talking to new people...especially when it comes to flirting. There is a constant struggle in their heads that some can never get over.

I agree with you on this one. Usually people get liquid courage to do so! but I sometimes have a hard time aswell not fun when it happends but if you can get over it maybe you might get what you want:P

Posted by Crazy Serb on Aug-30-2005 23:48:

All right, let's get some things straight... flirting is healthy, and we humans need it, cuz it releases some of the same chemicals that are being released during sex. So, here are the unwritten rules of flirting... written down:

RULE #1: The truth is - I don't have any serious intentions.

RULE #2: I really like what I'm experiencing right now.

RULE #3 (and the most important one): I don't know how long I will be feeling what I'm feeling right now.

As long as you follow the above rules, flerting is safe...

Now, you just gotta make a distinction between JUST flirting and hitting on someone, resisting the temptation, etc, etc...

I somewhat agree. Once I get passed the shyness stage I think the struggle is with where I should draw the line. The thought of saying the wrong thing and looking like a jackass to this girl I just met is what holds me back sometimes. Once I get to know her and know what her boundaries are I got no problems flirting. Unfortunately by that time (if this was a girl I'm interested in) I'm in the "nice guy" aka friend ladder and taking the leap will lead to my demise. But there is something to be said about chemistry as well. Sometimes you meet people who you instantly click with and feel comfortable saying anything to.

i used to find it difficult when i was younger... but i somehow just forced myself to actually do it and i would question myself "why am i so concerned" and i could never come up with a good legitimate reason... so i eventually just ended up making myself do it w/o over thinking it, and now it naturally happens.

try to beat ur inhibitions (but once again, yea, that's easier said than done... but trying is the first step...)

I like this post. Honeslty, that's the way I see flerting too. Great post dude.

Posted by MidnightClubber on Sep-01-2005 04:07:

The way I see it..

This stuff with "what are they thinking" "am I over-doing it" is either

a) Paranoia over a stupid matter like this. Use you're judgement. If the other person is in a relationship, don't deal with it. Or you're just smoking too much chronic.

b) You're over-analyzing the flirt. Hell, most guys do it "wow is she getting bored" "does she want to screw me" etc. Useless garbage that in the long run leaves you nothing but confused and annoyed...

I hate to say it but, buddy, when at parties in clubs it's the greatest feeling. I know the crazyserb said it, imagine you had the very same conversation without the thought of sex on you're mind. You wouldn't be here asking for advice.

I'm not the one to give advice, but if you see him again see how he acts. It could have been a spur of the moment thing.
