Well said Vi!!! I could not agree more

Posted by lorderan on Sep-01-2005 23:58:

Damn well said Vitamin.

I used to live in Geelong (did my degree down there). Usually went out every weekend, pubs and what they call clubs down there. Every single time I'd go out there'd be a fight, every time.

I like my clubs (underground, raver) because we don't get fights, we don't get agro. I don't go to the upper crust clubs for two reasons, agro and a very obvious superiority complex of a lot of the people. If people want to go out and be "seen" thats their perogative, but don't bring that shit to the clubs I like.

Cheers

Any person or people, who can fill a venue every weekend, week in week out for years, deserve some respect regardless of music genre, and to a point have mine.

Im not just talking about just a normal regular crowd either, these punters are up for it, have a passion and loyalty to their music and to the dj's that play it. Now that deserves respect in itself.

What you have to appreciate is that peoples lack of respect or disdain for majik etc doesnt come from the fact that it happens to be a successful and pumping night, most peoples lack of appreciation comes from a dislike of the egotistical attitude of the clubbers who regularly attend these nights and the 'macho' mentality it has brought to the greater trance scene in general.
There is a stigma attached to such nights for a reason, not because of its popularity or success, or even for its music genre... its simply because of the 'general' (i appreciate there are exceptions) attitude of its clubbers.

I am sure that everyone is onto something bigger and better, but "at the end of the day" even though money is an indication of success, im sure a lot of people would agree with me when I say that a safe, positive and fun vibe is not something that can be measured on a monteary scale and these are the things that will lead to greater longevity (the 'real' measure of success).

V, that's fair enough if you genuinely DON'T LIKE the music. You diss the club for the punters who went there - and that was just a minority - not EVERYONE who went there had an 'egotistical attitude' or 'macho' mentality', as you put it - and ZOS was not the ONLY club in Melbourne with such punters of that standard.

So are you saying IF a 'trancey' event was full of people like that you wouldn't go, just because of the crowd???

At the end of the day it really is ALL about LOVE of the MUSIC. I too am up for a positive & fun vibe but, like i've said before you get your GOOD, BAD & UGLY EVERYWHERE

I've seen the best and worst of ALL sorts of people at so many different parties. Hey, ravers aren't exactly my cup of tea, but i don't let them bother me & I don't judge them for who they are. If they're rocking and loving the music, so let it be.

This thread has more debate than the Presidential Election. Can we form parties and elect leaders? Vote 1 - Munter Party

but like all things, the minority can just as easily seem like the majority because they are so 'in-your-face'.

I went once for a bday, they seem to have fun there week in week out, drunk on cruisers and dancing to cheesy retro & top 40 Plus you get to hang out with b-grade reality show evictees! Woo.

I like going out to different styles, especially house to the disgust of some of my friends (sorry sezzy), it was almost every week for a while there but I always broke my heels or fell over.. trance nights are better OH&S wise lol

and I accidently missed my 1st tek party because I was handbagging at certain house club (sorry G!) I'll come to the next one to check it out

pkc - save yourself the trouble.. no way house is worse than hardstyle

I'll savour my Cathouse memories from the Palace :-) Just thinking about Twister and the overplayed commercial tunes.......aagggghhhh

I'm definitley NOT 'just trance' .......LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL I though that is what the majority of AUTA's are all about??? I'm probably the most diverse on this site.

Once you get a taste of prog/tribal house...there's no turning back.....even I was converted. Too bad we're deprived of such quality overseas talent. Just ask Matt how insane the djs are in Canada Best house djs i've seen in my life.
