Diesel on the left, gasoline on the right.

Posted by Tag on Sep-01-2005 21:30:

Meh it sucks...but more ppl should be driving less and more diesel or fuel effiecient cars. Imo the faster the gas prices go up the better. Force ppl and companies into cleaner and renewable fuels.

Lets not blame under inflated prices, and stupidly high consumer demand over the last 30 years. Don't forget about the people buying SUVs, and pushing up the average consumption of gas, and increasing demand.

This has been a long time in the making.

absolute crap. It's goudging the consumer, plain and simple. OPEC and corporate America will use any excuse to fuck the average person.

Gas in Detroit is rediculous. Gas in Atlanta is worse. And the only gas you will find along the southern coast of the US is floating in the water which is killing everything and everybody. Katrina has shown the world a lot about this country as well as the entire continent. We just lost a beautiful city. We may be paying an extra $1.50 a gallon now, but that is still cheaper than anywhere overseas. I'm just gonna pay that extra dime, pray for the refugees, and pray for the city. I'm left in that predicament which is a lot better than thousands of the refugees. Even with this gas crisis, I'm making it up there to Toronto this weekend. I have to, but after that, I'm not sure how many more trance-trips I can afford.

Um... why are you whining about George Bush? We have our OWN oil reserves in Canada. It would be nice if *our* government (which happens to have its own much bigger slush fund) would start using it.

Paging Stephen Harper... if the Lieberals aren't going to do anything about this, why the hell isn't the opposition speaking up? God, I hate ALL the freaking political parties here!

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Sep-02-2005 00:57:

I agree...our politicians are lame ducks on this issue.

Fancy Pants Martin could start by dropping the GST on gas, which would save us a measly 7 cents.

Posted by djbruuen on Sep-02-2005 01:39:

i'm yet to pay over $1/litre...i managed to fill up at .98 before the skyrocket...but had to drive from mississauga to port dover and back today (on route to port dover i saw gas stations hit as high as 1.24 this is insane, where is our government to step in and do something about these prices? we've literaly gone up 50cents in about 4months...i'm going to have to cautiously limit my driving now becasue i can't afford this anymore.

that comment was meant for the US peeps.....Aaron........

if they are paying 5.37 US a gallon in New Orleans........free that oil up BUSH - FUCK!!!

again......there is no need for this crazy gas price shit - it didn't jump up like this when there hurricanes hit Florida last year and they had 4 touch down and interuppted oil production for weeks.....

BULLSHIT - scare tactics - we (US) are running out.......

GOUGE GOUGE GOUGE!!

ps

McGuinty has called upon Ottawa to stop taking tax out for a bit -translates to about 15% of total gas cost........ 15 cents per dollar.....implemented tomorrow......gas would go down from 1.25 to 1.05..........and lower as things cool off........really stabilizing at about .90-1.00 would put it alot closer to the true cost maybe...... HYDRO should be 6.5 cents a k/w instead of the regulated 4.3-5.2 endcap......

underinflation in prices has caused us these problems now because we have become to reliant on underpriced regulatory monies for certain items of commerce.....

christ everything has doubled food wise since 1993.......energy prices should have done the same......same as food - it is energy...why not have the true reflected price increased gradually as inflation and rent controls have done.......we wouldn't be screaming bloody murder right now.........but then again - minimum wage should have also double almost since then or at least increase 25-30%..........

too many fucked up equations that just don't really add up.....

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Sep-02-2005 01:43:

Honestly, this shit makes me lose faith in capable democratic government. We need a Mussolini type to come in and regulate everything.

Posted by psychosomatica on Sep-02-2005 05:01:

It just occurred to me that the US Congress and Senate are probably going to open up drilling in Alaska... what a tragedy.

Posted by djbruuen on Sep-02-2005 05:14:

highest yet that i've seen...$134.5 at sunoco on winston churchill/qew

this 15% shit better kick in fast. i can't afford to put gas in my car at this price. gas is literally doubled over 1 year.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Sep-02-2005 05:19:

for a change, McSquinty has put forth a nice idea. Let's see if Martin actually has the balls to listen.

Hey man, my engine is almost twice the size as yours, quit your bitching

Posted by if-away on Sep-02-2005 07:11:

This is when the opposition and Harper stop talking about gay marriage, military or any bullshit like that and promise a high relief on gas prices. Make it a law or something that gas never goes above 80cents. Instant election.

Regardless, the gov must step in and do something significant about this.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Sep-02-2005 07:18:

politicians must know that gouging consumers like this will have an adverse effect on the economy eventually. If people are continually busting their bank to pay for gas and other essential amenities, they are less likely to buy new houses, vehicles and just spend in general.

Ah, corporations run the western world anyway.

Posted by MaxTO on Sep-02-2005 11:33:

esso is at $1.343 at yonge/steeles...and I thought filling up at $113.8 was painful last night

Funny how the bulk of the increase has occured in the last few years since the invasion of Iraq.
