From what i heard(demi, digweed, B&J, Armin)...Digweed had the best set, by far!

Although I had more fun during armin's set

I spent most of the night either on stage, or in the crowd snapping off photos. So all I gotta say is wow what a great vibe! The crowd was definitly there to party and let loose. People shouting and screaming dancing it up at the front of the stage. It was a pleasure to watch a mass of bodies bumping to the beat. I'm sure some of you guys still saw me doing a little ass shaking even though I was mostly behind a camera.

Huge credits to the ETN.FM crew (AMB_ and Jurel(NYTA)) for there tireless efforts in making the livewebcast possible so that viewers could watch at home. Thanks very much for making me a part of it!

THIS IS WAYNE YOU MIGHT REMMEBER ME. (white guy 5'10 spiked red hair, green ad yello glowsticks, wearing a black tshirt type top with jeans.)
THIS IS MY REVIEW. (with might i add a little confession)
---NOTE IF U GET BORED AT THE BEGINNING PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SKIP TO THE END, BECAUSE THATS WHERE IT GETS GOOD---

arrived at 10:30
stayed in KH till 12:30, went to the TA meeting, love u guys. (im new btw my TA account hasnt published, this is my freinds acc.)
enjoyed the tunes, did some glowstringing with yello/green. Struggled to Guv, listened to Digweed, enjoyed, wasnt impressed.

back to KH for B&J. spun a killer set, thats when i met a short asian girl who i spent the rest of the night with, not sure if shes T.A. really cute and short, awesome girl made my night 100x better.
[PS if u were watching the live feed you would have seen us numerous times at the front watching armin]

AND NOW... for the best part.
Before tonight i was only somewhat impressed with armin, having never seen him before, i really thought he spun mainstream new vocal trance. ASOT trancey vocal meets ISOS 4 type stuff, which i enjoy dont get me wrong, but not in lenth.

SOOO armin starts spinning, and uhh im enjoying him, and within the first half an hour i keep waving for him to come shake my hand, and the girl i was with, cause she really liked him. SO he notices me. SPECIFICALLY. and if u were really watching armin, you would notice that he always looked in the same spots for the same people.

so the first hour goes by, im really enjoying the music, it hadnt goten hard yet, so my previous opinion had started to change of him.
SECOND hour --- he starts to sign things and hands out decks of cards and shirts signed. The first 4 or 5 rounds i tryed desperately to get something, so i decided .. im going about this all wrong. GREED is not the answer.

SOOO instead of reaching for myself, i began to point down at the girl i was with in order to get something for her, because it would have really made her night. SO the next time armin looked, i pointed to her, and he shook his head and smiled. The next wave of items, the bouncer gave out all, except a deck of cards and then he walked right to us, pushed away grabbing hands and gave it specifically to my girl. Needless to say...she was exstatic. which really made me happy aswell

Also during hour 2, armin begins to look straight at me after every song he spins. which at first i found pecuiliar, but ignored and enjoyed. He also probably thought we made a cute couple. hehe.

ROughly third hour. armin threw on a non-vocal pretty hard trance song, and i loved it. so i went nutz and danced like a mofo. Armin noticed right away, and i gave him a thumbs up and mouthed "i love this song" he then gave me a thinking face and winked. THen he proceeded to his vynels and grabbed another song, which undoubtly was hard. i loved it and went nutz once again, still ignorant.

roughly beginning of hour four. Im now starting to really connect with armin, he looks at me at the beginning, and he waits till the climax to see my reaction. So i begin to abuse this. lol.
The songs i like, i go nutz for, if its too soft, i give a moderate smirk to him. songs i really like, i nod my head to him, smile huge, and mouth "this is a good one" and give thumbs up. So he starts to break out the classics. Old trance i havent heard since my tiesto/oakenfold sets from 99' 00' 01. I LOVE THAT SHIT, the foundation music that revolutionised "trance" as we know it today. Not only this. buuuttttt he starts busting out the oldskool vocal trance ANTHEMS. i FRUITIN love those songs. and i scream the lyrics at the top of my lungs. he just looks and laughs at me.

ROUGHLY 4 hours 30 mins. i.e. 30 mins left. My cutie leaves me, she was tooo hot, understandable, it was a sauna near the last hour. espec at front. so i literally get to the front. and when armin throws on a song, i listen to the song, and begin to dance with a beat with precision timing. BASICALLY im dancing to the music notes.
and after roughly 5 songs, he looks at me, gives me a thinking face, and grabs 2 more songs, i knew them, which gave me the ability to dance to them exactly. and during every song he just looks at me and laughs, but after the other 2 and this goes on basically to the end of the night. IF u noticed the bouncers at all, you would have noticed that they pointed to me alot. they were actually impresed that i could dance perfecly to just about every song armin threw at me.
undoubtly this is hard to describe. but it honestly felt like he was spinning for me. and i know your all thinking, im crazy or was really high. but i dunno.
what i do know is, i connected with armin. its hard to put into words and leave as a messsage on a forum.

so im gunna wrap this up.
i met a ton of TA's. and you all were fantastic.
The girl i hung out with absoultely made my night a million times better and without her i probably never would have gone to the front.
i completely changed my opinion on armin, and have placed him in my top 3.
i had the best night of my life. Ive never connected with a DJ like that, and to have it be armin, ranked 3rd in the world. just blows me away.
one of the bouncers actually asked his boss if i could go meet armin, but the lead bouncer said no. i could have met him. there was a chance. that blows me away.
im writing this a bit sketched. so please dont critique it, and dont think im way out to lunch because i honestly dont believe any of this post is in any way false.

Great fun ;)

My friend Dan told me earlier on that he was gonna get there early like around 9pm because he waited for hours last year.I thought that was TOO early but we met up at 9pm...We got in after 15 minutes or so.I started running into some old friends & many TAs.We ventured into the Guv around 10:30 and it was pretty empty compared to the KH but after 20 minutes we we're bored & headed back to the KH.My game plan was to stay in the Koolhaus ALL nite because I knew that it was gonna be RAMMED later on that nite...Well later on that nite I felt like checkin out the other rooms...The Guv was PACKED...the room above the Orange Room (forget the name) was RAMMED and the Skybar was also JAMMED...I got my ass back into the Koolhaus and THAT'S where I stayed...

DJ sets we're overall good...I also agree that the lighting set up behind the DJ booth was wikid...Oliver dropped some pretty good beats and the same for Markus Schultz...Greyarea was "ok" but I was pumped to hear Blank & Jones most of all...I saw these guys 3 or 4 years ago at the old Limelite nightclub.Well I just danced my ass of throughout their set...I really loved The Killers- Mr. Brightside Blank and Jones Remix...1st time hearing that version of that song so I gotta get my hands on it

As soon as Blank & Jones we're done I left...I've heard Armin spin before & I was tired & sweaty

Venue:

I really, really liked that mosaic light show setup in the KH, behind the DJ booth. Absolutely brilliant!

...And i'm spent. Thanks to those TAs I metup with & those who wished me a happy bday (Sept 5)

+1

I had the stupid urge to venture around all the other rooms and see how they were..... HUUUUUGE mistake! RAMMED to capacity ++++ I don't think I've ever seen it that packed before.. and I'm talking every room. The orange room actually had some space.

Considering I didn't spend and arm and a leg for this... and since it took me less than 5min to get in.. I think it was def. worth it for me. But yeah!! IMO... B&J.. owned the night.

All the TA's i got to see again, you make going to these things just that much better.

Much love to everyone.

P.S

i finally caught a glimpse of swamper movin his feet. wow. is all i can say

As well, Sarah * Beach 420 * you've got to be the sweetest girl, thank you for replenishing my system with water when seemingly i was about to drop.

God bless that packed house.

A night of unexpected heros!

Got into the club early with tamiko, robben and sean cassidy. We knew we had to get there early cuz of the guestlist problems etc etc. So we hit up the line at about 9:30 and got in within 15 minutes. I think I waited longer in the ATM line!

Got into the KH where mark oliver was playing some energertic proggy stuff. I find that he always plays better when the lineup after him is solid; he didn't disappoint.

Then, MARKUS. Holy SHEIT. WOW. Some people weren't feeling it? This man blew me away. Slightly proggy at the beginning, very hands-in-the-air-breakdowns-while-anticipating-the-huge-return-of-the-beat kinda choons. I absolutely loved it.

Gray Area. They didn't really catch my ear. I respect them for what they do live, but they just didnt rub me right...

So I went to see diggers and WWWwwooooooo! PUMPING stuff. In general I am terrible at classifying sub-genres and sub-tangent-genres (note the way i described schulz' set lol), so I dont know what youd call it - but it was somethign along the lines of "in your face dirty prog with wicked basslines and some ripping synths" The whole time I was in the Guv, Diggers was right on his game. Seemed very good technically.

Headed back to KH to catch a few drinks and blank and jones. Ive heard rumours that these boys represent trance at its finest...and it was SOOO gooooood to hear it! Got me moving the whole time, until it was time for another drink and to rest up a lil for armin.

Armins first track.Zocalo. Precisely the tune I wanted to hear. Right at the beginning too Good thing, becuase after that he started rocking hard right away... I came to see armin based on the last time he was in town, where he was reall in ASOT...this time, a little to hard..too soon. I understand he was going with the flow of the night, but i mean..he's armin, Im sure he could start of with disco house and then go into his ASOT stuff and noone would mind. Dont get me wrong, he was good, just not the style that I had my heart set on. Not to mention the smart people trying to push to the front of the stage...like theyll hear better or something? I just want to get my groove on! jeeeez!

All in all an amazing night. My feet kill, my back is sore and my neck is stiff from all the jumping and head bobbing...all leading to the conclusion that LoL as a whole did not disappoint [except wanting to check out skybar...WTF ive never seen something so packed]

Thanks Ashley and geko for the water, you guys are LIFESAVERS

Overall impressions:

Mark Oliver - awesome opening. good track selection 9/10

Markus Schulz - perfect tunes, awesome energy "its a little bit lonely down here" 10+++++. Set of the night.

Gray Area - not my style I suppose. And yes, VERY loud. Didnt see much so I wont give them a numbers rating

Digweed - wicked wicked groovy beats, good technically. Had me moving the whole time 9.5/10

Blank and Jones - 9.5/10 EXCELLENT choice of tunes, especially near the end. I loooooooove hearin those B&J remixes, Last Time (Martin Roth Mix) Nightfly, Cream, MIND OF THE WONDERFUL! woo!

Armin - Not what I expected, and sometimes that can be worse than not knowing what to expect. Zocalo was played. Life was good. 7/10

Good to see everyone again! I loooove to party with yyou guys so much

Holy fuck. Just AMAZING party. Wicked seeing a shitload of you again. I always love it when this time of year comes around. Markus Schulz fucked killed it, Digweed rocked it, Blank and Jones tore KH a new asshole, AvB was good but I left shortly after he came on (seen him numerous times before). Cheers, see you @ Guv 9 year.

Since I couldn't go, I watched the entire thing live-stream from ETN.FM while in the chat.

TOTALLY saw some TA faces and erupted as I should to represent you guys in the chat to everyone.

Andrea
Laura
Fahad
Theresa

Everyone was looking to find Lisa to see if she made it in there but, the crowd was INSANE. The video feed was unbelievable.

Markus was great... mixing was a touch off but I"m sure you guys didn't notice there at the club. Highlights from Markus...

When he dropped "Without You" the chat went wild. I love this tune except wish it was the vocal mix.

Without you near.... nearly a tear to my eye.

Then later ADRENALINE!! Cale I was looking for you but didn't see you... I KNEW you'd be losing it to this.

Here is his full tracklisting;

Markus Schulz Live From Kool Haus in Toronto
01. Hammer & Bennett - Language (Santiago Nino Dub Tech Mix)
02. Wippenberg - Earth
03. Dogzilla - Without You (Dub Mix)

12. Purple Haze - Adrenaline
13. Kuffdam & Plant - Summer Dream (Paul Van Dyk Remix)
14. Niklas Harding Presents Arcane - Ice Beach
15. Oceanlab - Satellite (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix)

Then Grayarea came on. Have to say they were an interesting bunch but to be honest I really didn't know what to expect. Feedback was pretty harsh at times and the vocalist seems to have a pretty monotone voice. I remember him doing a rock-star scream and everyone in the chat going "Oh goodness, I hope he doesn't start a screaming dance song".

We could only ID one track from them and it was of course the last, "Gravity".

Then... we could see the little heads poking out from behind the DJ booth... it was Blank and Jones. Their entrance alone made me upset and annoyed that I made the decision not to go to this. Cale you were right... they destroyed the place. They were just wild.

I was nearly singing to myself here at home when "Perfect Silence" was dropped. The chat was erupting over and over during the build. We even commented that we should have saved it and sent B&J the transcript.

Their full tracklisting here:

17. The Police - SOS (Sander Van Doorn Bootleg)
18. Blank & Jones - Cream (Paul Van Dyk Remix)
19. Blank & Jones - Mind of the Wonderful

Then the camera panned right... and who else would it pan to than none other than Armin. Standing in the shadows waiting to go on with a wicked grin on his face. He could see the crowd, he could see their energy.

By this time, everyone was on their feet, hands in the air, and I could tell by the faces that they were screaming their heads off. TOTA REPRESENT UP FRONT AND CENTER. WE KNEW it was you guys going wild. You could totally tell.

His signature smile, signature dancing and incredible mixing made this night go so well. Armin thank you for such an amazing set. Much better than Decedance2 IMO.

45. DJ Tiesto and Armin van Buuren - Yet Another Suburban Train

I loved how he fast forwarded to his favorite part to get things moving because he know he had to go. And then as the second encore came on and they began to turn it off, you could see him yelling "OH COME ON" and it came back on.

Such a great night. Hope you all had an AMAZING time.

Special thanks to EVERYONE at ETN.FM and for everyone involved to make this happen. GREAT night

there is nothing i can say that has not already been said. Mr. Endgame here...desribed my feelings perfectly.

It was amazing at every corner you'd turn there was a TA raving his/her life away. Great to once again look around and see everyone with their hands in the air singing at the top of their lungs.

when markus threw down oceanlab..the biggest smile was seen on his face. everyone was singing...so he killed the mid range and u could hear the crowd take over. not to mention Ridgewalkers - Find...got my emotions pumping...*sigh* soooo gooooood. i love him i love him!!!! markus played exactly what i wanted to hear.....trance. which was sooooooo goood to hear. so i danced my heart out.

i have to say that it was nice travelling all the way to the skybar, only because i have never been to the guvernment while it was all access...i don't think i could have gotten a better tour. In each room the beats were pounding, creating a perfect example of each mood and atmosphere.

getting back to the KH was i have to say ... amazing we got there almost right in time for blank and jones. very very very happy. they played some siiiiick tunes...that made me want to never stop dancing. when i did....in our lil TA corner of the bar ... a bunch of us were dancing in our seats...with hands in the air, i died...and kinda stuck to a leather bench....hmmm swweat!!!! by the way dreamland 2005 - nu nrg - kiiiillllled me !!!! drew [endgame] and i looked at eachother with HUGE smiles on our faces and rocked out.

i have to say i really love the energy blank and jones kept up....even when people started screaming armins name during their last track. they still overcame it and had a killer ending. kudos to them for overcoming the crowd and smiling at the energy they had accomplished at the end of their set...
there was this energy in the crowd and iono...it felt good (and no i wasnt on drugs) it was just realizing who i was with, where i was....and how much i love the music.there was this energy in the crowd and iono...it felt good (and no i wasnt on drugs) it was just realizing who i was with, where i was....and how much i love the music.

i think the mood changed after blank and jones left the stage. i felt tension in the crowd and instead of people dancing their lives away and enjoying every beat as it passed through them, people were pushing to get closer to armin and not nice pushing but ruthless elbowing.

i have to say that during armin i have never been stepped on soo many times in my life...i have no more toes, they have left me and are gone. i won't even start about my chest getting elbowed...hit. etc. wahooo for being short and right about the right height for people to abuse the lil asian shorty. *sigh*

no matter what anyone else says i love armin...!!!
sick track selection ....
in all the night stole my life away... i loved it.

i danced my life away...my feet are gooooone....and i want to go back.

ps. amazing video clip TRANCEEEE!!!! brought me right back to the KH. wahoooooooooo.

can't wait to see more pics.

Awsome party, great people, great vibe

Posted by RTT on Sep-05-2005 18:29:

AMAZING SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!!

Everyone has hit it dead on except for those people that started the thread off by complaining...there was lots of room for me when i was dancing but it was very hot very very hot!!!!

I got to the koolhaus at 9 and left at 8:30 the best money i have ever spent!!!! Almost 12 hours of partying!! The best part of the night was being taken backstage to the VIP rooms with Grayarea for drinks and chilling out...spent a good 3-4 hours back there talking with Marcus Schultz, Blank & Jones, and Grayarea.....those guys are wicked and rocked the place!!

I would have to say that the music got better as the night went on Mark Oliver owned with his set and then Schultz stepped it up and so did every DJ to follow!!!

FACK!!!! Want to relive that night again sooooooo bad it was definately a night that i will never forget!!!

Fayraree u da man and it was nice to finally meet ur fiance! And great seeing all the familiar TA faces: Playa, Laura, RobbyG, Vertigo,Natalie, Barry, Tamiko and all the others that i failed to mention sorri!!!

Cant wait til the next time!

RTT & DJ Baby Tenshi signing off

What a great night.

Got in about 10:30 with basically no line-up at all. Went straight over to Kool Haus as I knew that is where I wanted to be. Mark Oliver was solid as usual and had me dancing within the first 5 minutes.

Then Markus comes on a tears it up for me and my feet wouldn't stop moving.

Moral Hazard and our buddies decided we would go check out Diggers but as soon as we hit the Guv doors we knew we weren't staying.....it was so packed that you couldn't even move. We decided to get back to Kool Haus and watch Grayarea. I wasn't sure what to expect but after infected mushroom I thought what the hell. Personally, I enjoyed their performance. I know it is not everyone's thing but they tore it up....I think it just takes me back to my younger rock days

Then Blank & Jones.....what can be said. They were masterful and stole the show from Armin. I don't think my feet stopped moving.

By the time Armin got on the decks my legs were dead....serves me right for injuring myself on the dance floor on Friday

I was able to tear it it up for the first two hours but between my legs giving out and the heat I spent the last two hours just bobbing my head in the corner.

All and All....a great night. Can't wait for Guv 9 with Carl Cox.

I read most of the posts and the intresting point is that most of you guys didn't even go to DEEPDISH's set!
Well let me start mine, i was supposed to go to LOL with 2 freinds and meet 4 other of my freinds in the main room. We arrived there at 11:30 and my freinds were on gustlist ,but guestlist gut closed and the guy saied no tickets ,u don go in,,,but i had a ticket and my freinds didn't so i went inside alone.
Bythe time i gut in Grayarea were playing live,,and me excited started my dancin for about 20 minutes.. But nomatter what i didn't wanna miss DD so around 1:30 i went to john digweed's .it was pretty nice music..
i started my dancing with my blue glowsticks at the main room and desided not to go back to KH cause it took me half an hour to get from KH to guv , and i didn't wanna miss good songs in the halls ,so i waited in my good spot for DD to come.
ALi came to spin first .before i used to love them but this time i just realized the weak music they were playing.. But i loved shahram's set from 7-8 ,it was sick.. But in total i am so disappointed from LOL.everything went bad,and i couldn't find any of my freinds ,and some bastords pissed me of ...
It was really disappointing

Blank & Jones - one of the better sets of the night. With that said, it was good but not amazing. At least it was real trance.

Armin - when I first heard his set at guv 8 year I loved it and that was one of the best sets I've ever heard. But tonight, well....I'm not really sure what to say. For those of you who consider that good trance, I disagree. I LOVE trance, but I hesitate before calling what Armin spun real trance. Yes, it had the same stucture but lacked the true journey that I like from trance. I am going to say again that trance is my very favorite genre of music. I respect Armin for the set he threw down at guv 8 year but I don't think I need to see him anymore.

A personal note: really good full out trance is actually quite fast. Most 'trance' out there now is much more proggy. While this may be nice to listen to sometimes it's just not the same. Also trance is about taking a musical journey, many times uplifting you (mostly but not as much with all styles). If a trance set does not take me on that journey then imo it's not a very good trance set/good trance.

totally agree.. armin wasn't the same, he dropped lots of tech bang bang pots and pans.. few tracks were good, but blank n jones - cream ... they read my mind.

also, the place looked like an average night at guv/koolhouse. we paid $10 - 15 - $20 events like these. at least decorate the place, give it some vibe. the pixelated screens were cool.

a refusal of a cup of water from the bartenders was inhumane.

HappyHappy

You know the night was gonna be insane when it wasn't even 11:30 and a few of us were already losing our minds due to the quality of the music being played

TRANCEEE man amazing pictures, and still downloading the video can't wait...I see my hands in the air in many of those shots haha

There were many many photographers there last night, does anyone know what website were they shooting for? Specifically there was a guy that always takes pics at the Guv, he's Asian. Anyway he took a pic of Pett and I and I'd love to see it

PS

It was awesome singing "Till there was you" with Shanny, Pett, MagikB, and cereal
