i concur. well done! i smoked 3 cigarettes between 7th november & 24th december. i thought i could have a casual smoke over christmas, and ive struggled to give up ever since. the problem being when youre only smoking 2-3 cigs a day, well fuck if you dont just love every last drag

edit: and nicotine patches itch

Posted by Anomyst on Mar-20-2006 23:49:

i tried the patches once before, they made me feel sick and they itch like all hell!

i have to book and intend to read it. but not yet.

My husband read that book, was all keen to stop smoking, yada yada... he lasted 4 days.

He's "quit' pretty much every month for the past 3 years and never gone longer than three or four days. He's tried patches, lozenges, giving me the cigarettes to hide and bring out in case of "emergencies", cutting back, delaying tactics, the "stop smoking in one hour" hypnotherapy sessions - which were a screaming success, he bought another packet the very next day - everything. Everything short of NOT PUTTING THE FUCKING THINGS IN HIS MOUTH AND SMOKING THEM.

I'd be a bit more relaxed about it if it we could actually afford to be sending $30 a week up in smoke.

Sometimes I wish I was a smoker, partly so I'd understand properly, but mostly so I can quit and prove it can be done.

I went through all that, and the hypotist I just walked around the corner! However I have been a nonsmoker for years now and I was a chainsmoker. I don't know if they are in Tasmania but I went to Smokenders. I went to the intro session with a girlfriend who wanted to stop and they convinced me to give it another try. Best thing I ever did! From what I've read about the book it uses a lot of the same techniques. The difference is you're doing it with other people and supported all the way, they tell you what to do and when to do it. Don't know how much it costs now but it's worth every cent!!

I've heard heaps of good things about this book and I might actually give it a try. No motivational crap will actually make me quit and my inability to control my temper without nicotine might be a slight worry but hey, this could be a bit of fun. I doubt it's going to work as I smoke close to a carton a week...Cheers to dodgy willpower!!

My CEO just busted me smoking out the back for about the 10th time this week. he said that he would have his mother pray for me! I'll get her to pray for us all!!

Posted by aL_mAc on Mar-21-2006 04:47:

i dont like smoking - never tried it so i cant really say that can i?
but i can tolerate some of them and doing it near or around me in big open place but what i hate is when your in a car or whatever and the bastards light up next to you and puff away like the ignorant fools they are... that shits me!

ive belted people for less ha!

i have quit smoking just like that, last tuesday i just decided to quit, and i havent had a ciggi in a week now!!

Posted by Sid on Mar-21-2006 12:27:

ive been hooked since my last trip overseas and to be totally honest I enjoy it. Just before work with a cup of coffee, chatting to the dude that owns the Korean supermarket across the road is what gets me through the day.

I wish it wasn't so damaging to your health

Posted by gilmista on Mar-21-2006 14:26:

dont do it siddles! hehe

i quit beginning of Jan this year and its the best thing ive ever done! highly recommended :P

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Mar-23-2006 00:58:

i must admit quitting has allowed me to get in touch with my inner angst and take it out on other people, which has been quite the rewarding experience. theres something liberating about releasing irrational anger.

youre all cvnts

Posted by charlee on Mar-23-2006 00:59:

I'm going to have one now

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on May-20-2006 07:45:

*sighs* it hasnt even been a week yet.

Posted by MiSSyM on May-20-2006 09:12:

lol is this the first time you've tired quitting?

I think im going to TRY & quit soon. Ive always said im going to quit but have never really tried.

That commerical with the green rotted feet is off.
My ciggis have now go the picture warning on them.

Posted by jono4L on May-20-2006 22:07:

nope ive quit several times since november each time has been harder than the last.

Posted by MiSSyM on May-21-2006 05:26:

well if thats the case, maybe you should consider hypnotherapy.

I know a girl who says she is trying to quit & wears those patches, yet takes the patch off whenever she goes for smoke.
lol whats the point in even doing that if you're not really trying to quit.
