agreed which is why i always say that good djs should stay in the booth and good producers should stay in the studio. If you happen to be good at both, BONUS!

Look at how many good singers make shitty attempts at acting. Some are good but most are there simply by name and not by talent.

So Jay, you do lights, why bother? What's the point of the lights that you control? Last time I checked, I didn't need to pay anyone to control the lights in my house, or I don't see people being paid to control lights in thousands of other places, why the lights at a club?

the experience has evolved into something alot more than just "hearing" a dj spin tunes for 2 hours. It is now an entire appeal to the senses that keeps people coming back whether they like to belive it or not.

I personally still enjoy a non-active DJ from a music perspective but the experience is always better with an entertainer on the decks.

I don't believe DJ'ing is quite yet popular culture though...its moving in that direction but still has a longways to go. Certainly is more than it used to be though.
