Do people think they are a certain type of person because of the cigarettes they smoke?

Very strange one this, some of it is done to the strength of the smoke others decisions why people smoke different brands is the price.

Me myself and the majority of my friends who work in offices etc smoke Marlboro lights, my friends who do skilled manual work like builders and plumbers etc smoke brands like B&H or Embassy which are much stronger smokes.

But then again there is chavvy white trash scum people some of which work in my office who seem to smoke the nasty brands which make you cough up a ton of lung butter.

I think it is very easy stereotype smokers by the brand they smoke, as arrogant and as snobbish as it seems you'll find out that your quite right!

In the UK there is one hell of an awful brand called Royals, I always picture Royals smokers as old men sitting in some dingy old pub up in the lovely industrial North whinging about their job, wife & kids etc.

B&H (Benson & Hedges) Some cockney geezer type chracter who can get you anything for cheap or knock off price, whether it be a new top of the range car, or tickets to the world cup final.

Lambert and Butlers Some little prick wearing an addidas tracksuit, hanging outside the shops being a general shit, driving around in a stolen car.

The list go's on and on!

Denser there is loads of observations to be made with cigarettes it's weird how many you can make, the same can be said for beer too!

Taha, I don't know what Americans are like with their cigarettes they probably to have their own streotypes.

The best Uk one is these hick women you get who are about 50's they always smoke these cheap and nasty brands like Red Band or Kingmen (which are scraps of the cigarette factory floor) they all have this distinct mullet type haircut, they have a very gruff and deep voice for a female and wear some morbid Scotty Dog or Wolves of the Wildness type fleece thing like this.

Switch it up between DuMaurier Extra Light, Belmont Milds or B&H Special Light.

in morocco when you smoke marlboro it means you're rich, when you smoke marlboro lights you're rich AND cool, when you smoke the local brand it means you're poor, etc ...

i've been wondering if it's the same elsewhere, specially in north america (with brands like du maurier/benson & hedges/players/parliament/newport etc ...)

Well i used to smoke Players.

Posted by Lepanto on Oct-24-2005 02:38:

in NYC it's kinda like this

Parliments Lights (no one really smokes full flavor) - means ur Russian or something of Slav decent.

Marlboro Reds- American and/or hardcore

Marlboro Lighs- the common Joe cigarettes. With this brand, no matter who asks you for a cigarette they won't hate it. With every other brand you have comments or something stupid.

Marlboro Ultra Lights - For the cool kids like me

Newports - for black people and Spanish people (no offense). On many occasions when people asked me for cigarettes and they were black and I had something like Camels, i'd take out the pack and they'd be like oh no fuck that. And even my black and Spanish friends tell me to just say you don't have newports lol

Camels - rare but more of an acquired taste cigarettes. i've noticed that the people who smoke this have smoked alot of diff brands and cigars and like Camels alot.

things like Maverick, Salems, Paul Malls, are considered cheap cigarettes.

before ..

now ..

cheap & good IMO..

newports

Posted by Allied Nations on Oct-24-2005 03:00:

In peru, thats where im most used to understanding the logistics of a smoke and his smoke....

Lucky Lights - If you are hip, with it, in the scene

Lucky Filters - Hip an with it but a little cynical

Marlboro Lights - Older

Marlboro Reds - Emo ish type kids or adults

Hamiltons - Hip kids who buy cheap smokes

Camels filters - Someone who really just wants a hard smoke

Camel lights - Unique

Capris - High maintenence woman

John Players Black - Claims they like the flavour, convinces everyone else they taste better, but really they just like the black box.

Xtra Cloves - For show if smoked all the time.

`

Ive smoked all of these on different occasions, except for capris, those thin smokes.. teh gay... lol.. pointless imo...

Im an equal opportunity smoker, and try and judge on taste.. which is why i like to try everything.. and then i pick what suits me. a lot of times ive thought, i think ill smoke that brand, like i thought i wold like Dumarier Smoked in canada, but i ended up really not liking then..
