hey,

anyone know any good DANCE rock... that can be mixed???

that would be awesome

Posted by Col on Oct-26-2005 10:42:

Radiohead
Pink Floyd
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
The Wedding Present
British Sea Power
The Postal Service

That's some stuff to get you going. Don't bother with any new pop-indie shite like Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs or Keane - NAMES TO AVOID, absolute bollocks.

But there's plenty of good stuff out there.

thanks, but i really don't want remixes of rock tracks.

I've noticed that a lot of the newer stuff starts out with a very steady trance beat (granted it's all using rock instruments).

this is the sort of stuff i'm after, so i can mix one rock track to anotehr.

I like Coldplay/Muse type of stuff, so if you have recommendations similar to these guys, I'd love to hear them.

Oh and I second ravemonkey's suggestion "BLOC PARTY"... the remix album is kind of blah but the regular one is good.

I love their song "This modern love" seems to sum up quite a few relationships that are going on nowadays.

other bands to check out:

The Clientele
Aqualung
Interpol
LCD Soundsystem
The Killers

There's lots of good rock out there. For some rock with a nice electronic touch try

VNV Nation
Celldweller
The Postal Service
Deadsy
Mindless Self Indulgence
Motion City Soundtrack
Orgy
Pink Floyd
The Faint
Broken Spindles

For a more chill experience I'd recommend

Damien Rice
Iron and Wine
The Shins
The Appleseed Cast
Death Cab For Cutie
The Cure

Some bands that really vary their energy

Incubus
Bright Eyes
Brand New
The Alkaline Trio
Coheed And Cambria
The Killers
Pedro The Lion

To rock your head off

Avenged Sevenfold
In Flames
Deftones
Atreyu
Evergreen Terrace
As Cities Burn
My Chemical Romance
Disturbed

Also, my buddy is in this band http://www.lostconformity.com/
They have a great sound, and coldplay is their major influence.

Enjoy

Not sure if they have been mentioned before in this thread but you should definetly check out Porcupine Tree.

Oh my.. Msi and Iron & Wine mentioned within the same post. Neat!

Posted by wrzonance on Jan-04-2006 21:09:

rock is

on or before the year 2000

AND

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE

and anything classic

like um... cheesy 80s hair metal

Posted by queen_vee on Jan-04-2006 21:44:

For trippy, haunting rock...
- The Music
- Robert Plant and The Strange Sensation
- Wolfmother

For bluesy rock...
- The White Stripes

Don't like much of the rock stuff around today- hence my EDM love!- but the above are all exceptional

Posted by wrzonance on Jan-04-2006 21:52:

Yea rock in recent years is horrible on average. It's all anthem rock, and ballads. Just because someone put int cello's and a full orchestra into your mix IN A STUDIO doesn't make you any better.

Yea... in fact. This whole decade has just been a giant black hole of no talent. I mean everyone says that every decade about whatever happens to be popular... but I really mean it. How can you on a clean concious listen to 50 Cent and honestly, whole-heartedly believe that he is actually talented. How.... HOW.

And the same goes for indie-emo-whine-rock... that's trash.

Blah blah.

I wish rock were better.
