What in the world are the Marlins doing...i see that Delgado might be headed to the Mets and now Lowell,Paul Lo Duca and Pierre are all on the block.I am not a Marlins fan by any means but5 when franchises pull this crap it really offends me .Gee and they wonder why they have such attendance problems

Posted by Shamez214 on Nov-19-2005 02:23:

They don't make any money. And, from the moment Delgado was signed, I knew he would be traded.

4M in 2005
13.5M in 2006
14.4M in 2007
16M in 2008

Backloaded much?

i kind of liked delgado before, but not now ..

the marlins are overpaying him material that he did a couple of years ago .. i think he has passed his prime ..

he had that good stretch from 2000 - 2003, but after that, he's been trying too hard to hit it out the park .

lol... I haven't heard that name in years... I laughed when I saw Bonilla.... just had to mention that...

I like Delgado... I don't know why, I always liked his stroke... he's got the "FUCK YOU" Home run swing... I always liked him... but he is getting up there in age...

but JUAN PIERRE, that guy should be wanted by every team...

Posted by SlackerBoy9 on Nov-19-2005 12:52:

If the Red Sox lose Johnny Damon then i think Juan Pierre would be a great fit for them.
As for Delgado i see him as being like a Vlad Guerrero and not wanting to deal with the pressures and media attention of a huge market like New York,I would much rather see the Mets if he becomes available get Luis Castillo, guy is a great glove at second and creates havoc on the base paths

Shawn Estes- the D-Backs are hoping to bring him back next season and he hopes to return to Arizona because he makes his off-season home there... the Rockies and Dodgers are interested

Tim Salmon- will probably return to LAA next year on a minor league deal as a ST NRI

Sean Burroughs- the CHW and SD were set to swap Joe Borchard for Burroughs in August, but SD's interest in Borchard waned and the deal was scrapped...SD will trade Burroughs elsewhere this off-season

Ned Yost- will get a contract extension before season's end...the club currently just holds an option for 2006
Jeff Weaver- Dodgers will soon start extension talks with Weaver, who wants to remain a Dodger, but he could end up commanding more on the open market as one of the best SPs avaliable on a thin free agent market...currently, each side is waiting for the other party to make the first offer...WAS interested in acquiring him
Javier Vazquez- prefers to pitch on East Coast...ARI had been in talks with FLA, BAL, CHW, DET, PHI, and LA and others...in a trade with BAL they would want a young SP (Erik Bedard), Jorge Julio and a young OF (Jay Gibbons, Luis Matos) and from PHI they would likely get SP Randy Wolf, though ARI wouldn't be interested...in a trade with FLA, ARI would get Scott Olsen or Jason Stokes...he could demand a trade after this off-season season, under terms of the CBA, and if not traded by March 15th of next year he could opt for free agency and thus forfeit the remainder of his contract
Art Howe- hopes to return as a manager or at least a coach somewhere in the bigs by next season

Felipe Alou- wants to return to the Giants in 2006, and whenever he feels like it, the Giants will have him sign an extension

BECKETT... wow... I guess they are trying to unload everyone...

I would take Juan Pierre over Johnny Damon every day of the week, especially now... Damon is too old to be asking for a seven year contract, he needs to hit the road... go to some crapper team... I can't see any team giving him that kind of contract...

That list is crazy, where is it from?

Jacque Jones is a FA? I always thought he was a good player...

Looks like Sammy is going to pull the Greg Vaughn and fade away in Tampa Bay... oh well....

I'm real... and I know the sox are going to suck this year... Theo was smart enough to realize it, and he did the right thing... they're going after MIKE CAMERON... that should settle everything, they're done... too bad, so sad...

http://www.mlb4u.com/rumors.html
i was searching around and bumped into it....lists all the team needs and projected payroll

Posted by Member of X on Nov-19-2005 20:42:

Juan Pierre is decent but his OBP was merely .326 last year with a batting average of .276. He did steal 57 bases but he was caught stealing 17 times. That's a % of .77 which isn't that spectacular. He has great range with his speed but isn't known for a strong arm or particularly great defense. That OBP is a real concern if I was a G.M. even though the year before he had one for .374 which is good.

Damon has a weaker arm than Bernie Williams which is saying a ton! I think he's on the downside of his career and 7 years is ridiculous at his age. A three year deal for a team that already has solid defensive outfielders at the corner positions makes sense.

Trading Cameron for Nady? That's it? I'm sure Cameron was worth more than a platoon guy with some pop. Cameron is one of the best defensive outfielders and there's a glut of teams looking for CF help. I don't get that trade fellas.... Man I wish he was roaming CF for the Yanks, he'd be perfect!!

I think the Yankees should trade Sheffield for CF help if they could. I know his contract proves difficult combined with his rotten personality when things don't go his way but I got to imagine some takers...

I hear Josh Beckett is about to be traded to Texas with Mike Lowell and his exhorbitant salary for Hank Blalock and a prospect.

Posted by King Ecnal on Nov-19-2005 21:06:

I really hope the Sox don't get Cameron... because this town is full of stupid fans... and they will immediately put so much pressure on the guy... I know what type of player Mike Cameron is, and if they bring him into this town to replace Damon... every idiot fan will expect him to carry that load... but it could never happen, because Cameron is not that good...

Juan had a slightly off year this past season... he's still one of the top 5 leadoff men though. I could so see Juan in the bronx... seems to be a guy I could see in pinstripes...

I had seen in quite a few trade rumors that the Yankees and dodgers were in negotiations for Milton Bradley,i really hope this happens,i would love for the first time him and Sheff go after a fly ball and collide or the first time he doesn't run out a play and Larry Bowa comes out after him...thats what i call must see t.v.

Delgado almost assuredly will be traded. His contract is just TOO huge. Word is that Loria wants the payroll down to $40M. Trading Delgado and his 14M next year would bring them very close to that goal.

My thinking on the Cammy trade is that Omar has been shopping Cameron for months now. Every conversation he's had with teams is about Cameron. I think Omar knows Cameron's value better than we do.

Cameron is damaged goods. Yeah, he passed his physical. But that doesn't mean he will be able to play ball the way he used to. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

As for Juan Pierre... yuck.

And the Yankees aren't getting Milton Bradley. Cashman doesn't want him at all.

Supposedly, Mets are talking with the Marlins about Castillo in addition to Delgado. I'd take both of them, even though I don't like Castillo too much.

I would gladly take both of them.Get rid of Matsui, keep Miguel Cairo as a utility infielder and now it looks like by tuesday B.J. Ryan will be our next closer.i want to see the Mets sign Guillermo Mota,i think he is still one of the best middle relievers
I think we will be keeping Nady as well

I'd rather sign Octavio Dotel (coolest name in baseball). I miss him. Is Mota a Free Agent? I think he has to be non-tendered first.

I think a bullpen of Wags/Ryan, Dotel, Heilman, Padilla, Berto and whoever else is pretty damn good.

What about Carl Pavano???

He supposedly wants out of the bronx...

I always laugh, because all these guys who go there??? What? Do they think they're going to be top shelf with guys like AROD and Unit on the same team???

Pavano please go, you aren't worth $10 million. Trading him will make my day...

Another free agent bust by the Yanks. But once he leaves it seems like he'll star for someone else.

Posted by Shamez214 on Nov-20-2005 21:58:

Nope. Sadly... Pavano just plain sucks.

However, one ex-Yankee I do want on the Mets is Javier Vasquez. He has to be traded by February or else he'll become a FA.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!

...BECKETT in BOSTON???????

I hate when the red sox go and do crap like this, dammit, I pledged I was done with the friggen sox... this really puts me in a spot... because the only guy that could bring me back as a sox fan would be Troy Glaus or Josh Beckett....

I could not believe the Marlins took Hanley Ramirez, I think the guy is so friggen over-rated... every idiot up here WAS calling for Ramirez' name when Rentaria stunk it up all season... because fans are stupid... but Hanley Ramirez is nothing special, he's awful, but he was the best prospect in the sox farm system, which says a lot.......means....... the marlins just got average crap...lol!

What's the over/under on Josh Beckett's starts? 20? Dude is as fragile as Fred "the glass" Taylor.

It's win/win.... yes Beckett is infamous with his blisters and other injuries... but he's better than Bronson Arroyo, and the other losers on that staff...

The sox are screwed, because they need to essentially score 8 or more runs a game this season to win, because the pitching is awful... either way, they're going to suck, because they'll trade Manny for peanuts, and they'll crumble... oh well...

Ummm... Hanley is a top prospect, not just in the Sox system, but in all of baseball. While he may not tear the cover off the ball his first few years, his potential is outstanding. Actually, both Hanley and Anibal are top 50 prospects.

I really hope that the Mets don't trade Milledge for Manny... Milledge seems more and more like a potential superstar.
