I agree that FL is extremely intuitive. I learned the hard way about what all FL can do, simply by stumbling upon certain features, accidentaly finding things that is. FL does so much, and years later I'm still discovering new things. I can't see the harm of reading a reference book. At least you would get an idea of what all FL can do. Learning the hard way like I do isn't for everyone I guess. It's very boring to read to read manuals or reference books though, that's why I can't bring myself to do it. There are certain features I wish I would of known about years ago, they would have been very helfull.

I think one of the best ways to learn all that FL can do, is to get a hold of an FL expert's song file. That way you can see what they are doing in the song, and reproduce these things yourself. I learned quite a bit from just watching what was happening in the stock song files that come with FL.

Just be prepared for the FL bouncers to come hunting you down if
one day you decide to progress to cubase or logic. The FL godfathers don't like deserters, it's not good for the FL family name.

I think the fastest way to learn how to use fl studio is to look at how someone elses track has been made with it.

Anyway slightly off topic but to get the best of both worlds would it be best to record my access virus in cubase and then simply import the audio into fl studio?

no, the best way would be to record and playback your access virus in fl studio. ive been recording and playing back my virus b using just fl studio for about a year without hitches.

LOL No I firstly when I got my pc I knew fuck all so I got it with reason not realiseing it was a closed enviorment and couldn't use other vst stuff with it.

So I went out to get cubase sx but brought an access virus instead so could only afford cubase sl wich still does every thing I need from it at the moment.

And just as I was getting into that I saw a demo of Fl studio at some event in london ( sound exposure? )and I was just amazed by it so I brought it ( only 90 quid!!!!!!) and I've haooly been with that ever scince.

so you bought 3 sequencers? what on earth would you need 3 of them for when you can do everything in 1?

if cubase sl does everything you need then whats the deal with spending 90 quid on something you absolutely do not need?

i dont get it.

but whatever. the point is you dont need cubase at all - you can record and playback from the virus, all in fl studio. to answer your question.
