Looks like it will be a long Friday as usual for a lot of us ending at 8AM

Exclamation Heaven

Is there more than one "real Heaven?" Well, if you are thinking of trance clubs, no!!

The one and only Club Heaven is the one at Arena (6655 Santa Monica Blvd, L.A.) EVERY FRIDAY

Check out what Kristina Sky has to say about this venue (irrelevant parts about NYE omitted; full post here):

quote:
Arena is a very decent sized venue, when its packed, its crazy.

It is one of the best venues in L.A. in my opinion[...]

Arena has the best smoking patio in L.A., its on the second floor outside under the stars and the whole layout of the club is nice.

When Arena is being used at its full potential and capacity, It is 2 levels, 5 Full Bars, 1 Main area which gives it a very intimate feeling even when its packed. There are railings around 1/2 of the main room on the bakconies so you can stand and get a great view if you just wanna chill for a second.

There are nice couches and chairs along the main floor and upstairs.

2 mens and 2 womens bathrooms which are usually maintained really well throughout the night.

a coat check.

very friendly staff for the most part[...]

If this isn't an endorsement, I don't know what is!! Thank you for your honest opinion, Kristina

LA is a huge market. Plenty of love for multiple club nights in one evening.

definitely, when done right, by clubs like spundae and avalon(pushing it there, cuz I really dont agree with how they run their stuff either.. but at least its semi-professional and reliable)

Someone needs to buy Avalon...remodel...and re-run.

It could be the sickest place in LAif they put more work into it.

Posted by Hypersky on Dec-09-2005 04:47:

What needs to happen at Avalon is for someone to go in like Sasha did and completely change the vibe of the place. Fundacion was the only time I'd been in Avalon and didn't feel like I was clubbing in a theatre.

You should have seen the decor for Lawler in october. I've never seen Avalon look so fucking cool.

Fundacion was also good...but they coulda done more.

I want that giant F symbol they had hanging from the ceiling!!!

It must have gone SOMEWHERE!

Hello!

Hi there, i just moved to socal recently and there are great djs playing here. i want to ask what is the dress code for clubbing in LA? for example if i want to go avalon this satarday to see dave seamen or to see johan gielen at heaven, will a pair of pumas, a jeans and a regular shirt do or they won't let me in unless i am wearing half my closet for a techno night? i mean i am going to dance not to impress.
please let me know. cheers.

Avalon has 0 dress code, so you're cool there...I dunno about Heaven but when i used to go there it was always real lax.

NO there's no dress code. Come as you like in a reasonable matter. Its all about the music!!!

Posted by matthew on Dec-09-2005 06:06:

I have seen Johan Gielen at several venues. Has always brought a show filled with energy and excitement. He plays high energy trance and enjoys the crowd. Oh, and about the dress code at heaven, just dress comfortable and be yourself.....

Heaven, thanks for the place to be every friday night for the place for trance.

Awesome fake account. Go Heaven!

Posted by matthew on Dec-09-2005 06:14:

Actually its not a fake account. Heaven and Spundae are the two major edm events every week. Heaven specializes in Trance, which I love.....

By the way I have heard you spin and it is very good.

As always....You do it right, heaven does it wrong.....

The Ego...The Arrogance....

Please.....

Eventualy, everyone learns to ignore a braying donkey...

Every Thread about heaven has a negative comment about it by you or one of your cronies...

I think its downright rude

I believe I understand now why they didnt let you in there. Your mouth couldnt fit in the door.

LOL, pretty funny. You are such a deflector. Everything you say about everyone else is actually you.
Stick to stealing your music, to your mixing spreadsheets and preplanned live sets. Leave me alone, I just want to keep playing records for the people that actually do care.

I missed the Lawler shows, but the atmosphere at Fundacion was fantastic. Definitely one of the great clubbing experiences in LA.

I am tired of arguing with you.

You have no respect for anyone else, you talk to people like you are better than they are and until someone puts you in your place that will never change.

ANOTHER THREAD HIJACKED BY LOST EPISODE

THANK YOU KRISTINA....

Idiot.

Get over yourself??? Ego? Hardly. Confidence? Yes.
Why would I not be confident when I know that I work my ass off to try and provide people with a good time?
I have done nothing wrong to anyone. I have nothing to hide. You are the one that talked shit on Heaven and your "best friend" Leon for over the past year, going on numerous boycotts. And then!!!! After all the shit you talk... as soon as I move on from Heaven, who is knocking at Heaven's door??? You.

You are a hypocrite and a liar and I will leave it at that. I challenge you or any other of your negative peeons to bring it on.
It doesn't matter how miserable you are or how miserable you try to make everyone else around you, I am not going to stop doing what I do. I have been doing events since I was 17 years old. I do this because I love dance music and I love helping to bring people together to celebrate that. I'm not going to back down and give up on that just because you are going thru a personal mid life crisis.
There are more people that are positive and appreciate what we are doing to contribute to the scene, than there are people like you, who try to bring it down.

Those people are enough for me to stay.

I'm done with you and all the drama and negativity you create. Dont ever come up to me with your fake smiles and hugs again. I am disgusted with your attitude. You know exactly why I say the things I do and feel the way I do re Heaven,

for good reason- at least I have always been honest about it. You on the otherhand are the biggest backstabber of them all. You used to be about the music... but you have really lost sight..

Stick to stealing your music, to your mixing spreadsheets and preplanned live sets. Leave me alone, I just want to keep playing records for the people that actually do care.

HIJACKED?!?!??!
I wasnt even involved in this thread until Philippe brought me in.
And Lost Episode has nothing to do with me making personal posts on TA.

You blatantly personally attacked me, so I don't really see what you expected in return...

The conversation was between philippe and I, but you had to stick your nose in where is doesnt belong... AGAIN. Because you THRIVE on being involved with the drama that YOU create.

off topic -- open "letter" to Kristina Sky

And that's really admirable, Kristina. Believe me, we ALL appreciate your hard work over the last few years to expand the L.A. trance scene--sincerely, me first.

So I would expect someone with that kind of motivation to be supportive of others' efforts to do the same. To say that some promoters should stop throwing events because they are not of big enough a scale for you seems a bit extreme when you think about it: Surely you didn't start at the level where you are at now?...

I thought that our community was supposed to be about sharing our passion for EDM, something that has brought a lot of very different people together for the best; not about pursuing personal vendettas. I understand that you (and others) need to get things off your chests, but does anyone else here really care, or has not already heard the story over and over again?

I am not saying that you may not do it, but I think that it is actually accomplishing the opposite of your objective; namely, turning a number of people off from the scene. Especially in the last couple of weeks, this is the feedback that I have gotten from many TA lurkers who came up to thank me spontaneously at various events.

Like a very wise man watching from across the Atlantic wrote, there is room for more than one club in our area on any given day. You may not like Club Heaven for personal reasons--that are none of our business--but does that justify trying to take it away from the hundreds of people who do happen to enjoy it week after week? If Club Heaven is so bad, then it will eventually go out of business like the others you mentioned. Is is really necessary for you (and others) to actively precipitate its potential demise (other than for personal gain or vengeful satisfaction)?

Instead, I want to invite you (and your associates) to really show your love for the music and bringing people together by letting it be. Please, for all the fans who just want to have a good time as often as they can with some variety in their options

Doesn't everyone steal music from others and when your first start off pre plan your sets? I steal music all day long especially if you like it.

Stealing as we speak!

LOL I let others do the stealing for me

Posted by Shafer8 on Dec-09-2005 18:26:

I steal music all day long, if you like something you try and get it anyway you can, it is that simple. As for pre planning sets, well everyone I know plans it one way or another at some point.
