I've had the pleasure of catching him live a couple times now and they were all sweet (including catching him in Toronto with Andrew). his mixes are always a new highlight on cd player rotation.

haha

Wait and see, Arney

Yeah he throws down a few tracks that are a bit better known but some of his new selections get picked by other djs as a result.

True. Ive been listening to Jon since 2003, and he always has different play lists. Thats part of the reason I stuck with him. Quality dream trance, without playing what everybody else is playing.

BUt the man KNOWs how to build! First TA DJ to get on the Essential Mix, and its for a reason! His warm up residencey at Gatecrasher really helped him to learn how to build a set/crowd. THe build is just so clear, and smooth. Spot on mixing too.

I hope he stays just below the radar, where he is now. He is doing a fantastic job.

People dance to Tiesto bc he's tiesto... his name is a huge part of the selling feature you've bought into. I haven't heard a tiesto set come close to jon o'bir in years.

I wouldn't go that far

obssession

just a few, only reason everyone hates him because he got too popular, I don't like his sets too much, but I respect him, it's a clique to make fun of tiesto, almost a cool thing to do

the 2nd set is siiiiiiick thank u!

I've always rated Adam Sheridan higher than Jon O'Bir... Never heard any of Jon O'Bir's productions...

But after hearing Sheridan's set at Together as One... I'm not sure anymore...

Both DJs are good on their own right though

ya I'm sticking to what I said IMO. Sparkles is the only one you listed that I enjoy and even that just sounds way too commericial, like he had a program which spat out 'new rave anthem'. The rest are ok but don't trigger any special emotions in me the way Jon O'bir does.
For the record I don't hate tiesto, I just prefer other guys. I'm getting a bit bored with tiesto's sound as it gets more and more play. To me it's kind of like hearing the same top 40 songs on the radio too much, eventually its not exciting.

I really liked Jon O'Bir_-_The_Residency-01-08-2006 , especially the last track Rolling Thunder. jon o bir does have a great track selection. Id love to see him along with Menno De Jong and of course VADIM ZHUKOV!!!

I agree with you Peter and have always said as much.

Its the popular thing to do right now (for hte last while) to hate on Tiesto just because

nusty: LOL @ The production comment. What the hell has jon o bir made? Seriously man. He has not even made much yet

I like the guy. He has a good flow in his sets and plays trance tracks that a lot of other djs dont.

But he has absolutely nothing on guys like tiesto or ferry in productions.

yeah he is also half their age. hes been working in productions with GTR. everyone needs time to develop. but dj skill wise he is on equal level or exceeds some of the top names in trance.
