I read something about it in the Montreal media during the weekened but its very cryptic.
it mentions the murder taking place near Bleury st. next to an afterhours called Le Vinyl.
OK, the problem is that I have never ever heard of an afterhours called le Vinyl and secondly if the journalist mistakenly called a regular club an afterhours, well there's no clubs that I heard of on Bleury st...
very very weird.
Magikb: doesn't the guvernment have hiphop playing in the orange room at the Guvernment while a dj spins in the main room?
And for your info, that was Montreal's 32nd murder this year, compared to 70+ in Toronto and 34 in Edmonton...
after some research it seems that there's a club on that street, called Vinyl...
but I'm almost 1000% sure its not an afterhour....

The man has not been identified. The shooter fired several bullets in his direction in front of horrified onlookers and then escaped in a car. Compare this to my old stomping grounds in Washington DC with 177 murders for 520,000 people! Check out www.mpdc.dc.gov If you want to read some scary shit, read the police reports for this past weekend in the neighborhood (population about 5000) I used to live in. http://www.crimereports.com/users/r....phtml?rID=9825 Murder rate DC = 34/100,000 Murder rate TO = 2.59/100,000 Murder rate Montreal = 1.88/100,000 |

R.I.P. Aidan Lumley
Got a phonecall from my best friend from Toronto. Her good friend Aidan Lumley was the 20yr old who was shot and killed in Montreal this past weekend.
Any reservations, comments, or anything you have to say about violence in the club scene towards this person, I suggest you comment lightly. I can say from knowing the individual personally that this was a totally random act of violence that was also unwarrented. This guy was incredibly nice and well respected. He was not some trouble-making guy out to find a fight. Things ended up with him getting on the bad side of some people in the bar for what reason, nobody knows. The friends he was with really had no idea what was going on until they saw him on the ground beside their limo. Ambushed outside of the club, shot and killed, 20 years old, that is no way to die.
RIP Aiden. You are missed by many, even the people who knew you only for a while, myself included.

| Aidan Lumley was king of the waves -- a stellar swimmer and sailor -- but the charm and athleticism that made him such a popular student at Trent University couldn't save him in the unfamiliar depths of a Montreal club. "He was the love of my life," his mother Elaine said yesterday from her High Park home. "It's devastating." Lumley, 20, was gunned down outside the Vinyl Lounge on Rue Bleury early Sunday morning. A friend who was with Lumley told Elaine her son was ambushed as he walked out of the bar and shot twice in the back. "He said he was just getting into the car and then Aidan wasn't there anymore," Elaine said. "When he looked back, (Aidan) was there on the ground." She said she was told there had been no confrontation in the bar before the shooting, although police said they believed there had been one. TOP STUDENT The sudden and brutal violence had no precedent in his life, his mother said, adding her son was a top student and athlete at Trent, where he studied physics and biology and starred with the swim team. "We used to joke that he didn't know how to fight," Elaine said. "He would just laugh his way through anything." She said her son had travelled to Montreal from Peterborough after wrapping up a tough week of exams at school. "They just went there for fun," she said, adding Aidan had a wealth of friends and was leaning toward a career in medicine after graduation. Police in Montreal have told her very little about the case and she isn't sure yet when her son's funeral can be arranged. A memorial service will also be held at Trent, she said. Montreal police Const. Anie Lemieux said police had stopped a car seen fleeing the area but were treating the driver as a witness and not a suspect. "For the moment, the motive was an apparent argument that started inside the after-hours club and went outside," Lemieux said. On Sunday morning a limousine sporting Ontario licence plates sat roped off inside the crime scene area. It was a bloody weekend in Montreal, with at least two other shootings, although those are believed to involve street gangs and are not related to Lumley's murder, police said. |
Le Vinyl isn't an afterhours but a club, some local djs played there before but its mostly hiphop.
Thats the only stuff i found thru m. google.
they still say its an afterhours................mmmmmm weird.
When will people learn violence isn't the answer?
It is so sad to hear when innocent people lose there lives to someone who needs to use a gun to solve their problems.
My heart goes out to Aidan's friends and family
i know le vinyl....it is most definatly not an afterhours club.It is very sad indeed that an innocent life was taken.I'm for free speech and all, but when are we going to finally all agree that gangsta rap is vile hateful music that incites stupidness in those too stupid to realize the words are not truth...(vinyl does spin hip hop.)
Sad that mor hip hop club room violence in such a short period...sadder: someone out for a good time ends up gone.
Thank you chris for the update. Appreciate it. Sad news
