2005, good year for trance so far. Progressive Trance is getting more advanced and melodic trance is just awesome. Eg, Mike Foyle-Theme From Dusk, Noel Sanger-My Prayer (Probspot Remix), Kaffdam and Plant-Summer Dream (Stoneface and Terminal remix) etc etc

Re: '05 rivals '99

I liked 1999 and 2000, but so far 2005 is the best! Lucky to live the trance life in 2005!!! It will be remembered!

There.. I said it. 2005 is by far #2 for best year for the trance genre, it could possibly be just AS good, maybe even better than '99. Good trance, I think. I had so much fun at the clubs. It was looking a little bad in the first and 2nd quarter. but then BAM!

AWESOME! 1 month to go! 1 month for more AMAZING songs!

I started listening to trance in the beginning of 2002, I think the best era for me was 2002-2003, but after this, when I started listen to 99 stuff I noticed I prefer the 99/2000 sounds: productions/compilations/sets.

2005 is average for uplifting/melodic trance and very good for the new prog. trance, comparing with other years, of course.

Imo.

Posted by CrackedLcd on Dec-02-2005 23:20:

I like all the yrs 2001-2003 better than 2005. I haven't grown to like the bass heavy style that is so popular in trance now.

I think 2005 has been a great year, a lot of quality tunes being released. Some of you guys just take everything so damn serious.

On point - signed, sealed and delivered.

On a more serious not, for those of ya'll that think 2005 has been a great year for trance, gimme 4-5 albums/compilations that ya'll think are worth it. I'm not taking the piss - actually am curious.

Posted by noelsanger on Dec-03-2005 17:18:

here is what i think is dope.

i got into progressive and trance in the early 90's and have watched it evolve over time. i loved where progressive was in 1998, bordering on trance, very melodic, higher tempos. that year i released a record on limbo (pioneering scottish prog label-defined the genre in 92-93) that was over 140bpm and it fit. i guess it all went wrong when "trance" split away and became super melodic and the proggy peeps went all dark and tribal. i admit i followed the dark route for a while, but always tried to keep it musical. in any event, the progressive trance sounds that have come back, which some of you call mcprog, feel to me like we picked up where we left off in 1998. if the whole prog thing hadnt gone so dark and stuck its head up its own arse we might have got here sooner. but still, i am more excited about the music i am hearing than i have ever been, save perhaps for those halcyon nights in 1991 when it was all just starting for me- which isnt because the music was better, but the whole thing was a brand new world. one which i am happy to still inhabit, 15 years later!

peace and love

Posted by tubularbills on Dec-04-2005 03:43:

I think '05 has been better than '04. but as for '99? probably not.

Posted by djkoolaide on Dec-04-2005 06:47:

Nah, 2005 has sucked, trance-wise. I think 2004 was so amazing, though.

Posted by Simcut on Dec-04-2005 10:40:

Im sorry Marc but what a load of fucking bollocks.

Threads like this make me wonder if Marc really is just another 2nd account of someone trying to be funny but failing miserably.... anyone with braincells knows that 1999 was far better than 2005.

The End.

actually i've been following the trance scene since 1997, and i think 2005 was pretty good.

Posted by Synthesia on Dec-04-2005 11:47:

^Idem with TOR's reply, perhaps I've only started listening slightly later than 1997, but still, 2005's been a great year. Where's the optimism and appreciation here guys, with this kind of attitude its understandable that many people think trance is/was experiencing a decline. Not at all lately imo, its the way you want to look at it, there will always be ups and downs.

Posted by Reactic on Dec-04-2005 12:16:

trance has become more uplifting in 2005 thus I can say I prefer 2005 over 2004.

Posted by JakeC on Dec-04-2005 12:36:

This year isn't better than 97/98/99 but there have been some class tracks this year. These days its a case of looking for trance where as in 97/98/99 there was so much good stuff it was easier to find.

i've quite liked this year and i've been clubbing for getting on 7/8 years.

All years have some shit and some good stuff, if you're not finding good stuff then you need to look harder.

I feel trance has got to a stage where it feels it doesnt have to keep outdoing itself with breakdowns and recently there has been alot less re-makes which i think signals a good things.

Clubbing wise trance attendances have been increasing this year which i hope is another good sign.

Posted by NuDarkBeat on Dec-05-2005 04:33:

80% of trance now sucks. with all the preformated production programs that are coming out now it leaves less room for the real artists.
