thats the way it should be!

every $50 you dump into your tank or that goes to maintence, i buy myself an 8th...and for those oil change and tune up days, i'll get myself a half just for good measure hehe

but seriously, rent + gym membership + cell phone + student loan + cable bill is about 2K per month not including food, laundry, and pot

it'd probably be cheaper to move back to my parents house and get a car

well my mechanic is REALLY good at what he does and i trust him more than anything with my car. he honestly doesn't want to see me put that kind of money into it, and tried to talk me out of it. but i explained how i still owe like 6k on it and he agreed that i would have a really hard time getting rid of it at this point.

he doesn't do transmission rebuilds, but he referred me to a guy whom he sends all of his transmission problems to and that guy was really cool too, so any guy that my mechanic refers me to, i trust. he was also trying to talk me out of the rebuild and to just get a new car. i mentioned replacing it with a used transmission and he won't even do that in his shop because it's always a big hassle and you can never trust where you get the transmission from and there's always an issue and u have to pay for the shipping to send it back and forth, yada yada...it made sense.

i'd rather just have them rebuild it with all new parts. i trust him and if i'm gonna hold onto that car for another year or 2, then i might as well have it rebuilt, rather than put another used one in with miles on it and have to go through this again in like 7 months.

Just curious, why did you choose the g35 over the m45x? Is yours a coupe or sedan?

Posted by pmoisse on Jan-27-2007 03:20:

I did 1800kms in 6 days over Christmas in a rental car.

I had about 335,000kms on my Miata when I sold it this past summer.

My best roadtrips were 1200kms on a couple winter rallies (overnight 600km fast road rallies in the middle of winter, 300km there, 600km rally, 300km home) and Waterloo-->Montreal (party all night) Montreal-->Waterloo 1 day later (1400km round trip)

I miss my little race car

But I had to sell it since I'm moving to Holland in a little under a month and it would just rot away if I stored it while I'm gone.
