shhhhh.. this is only between you and me!

oh i forgot that you are new in the scene
this is no news. es there is drugs but not only in techno. there is drugs involved in most EDM (house, trnace etc), hiphop, rock etc. nothing which is significant just for techno.

Posted by XenatR on Dec-10-2005 00:10:

yea true that.

drugs are for losers

especially hard drugs like extasy etc

LOSERS take drugs

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Dec-10-2005 00:10:

People in the town/village/city/tower block where you live will take drugs.

I just discovered a new artist called Frog Pocket. I'm fucking serious man. What the fuck? Frogs don't have pockets. That's fucking insane dude. Frogs don't even wear pants. They wear tophats and carry a cane while dancing/singing to "Hello Mah Baby". What the fuck were they smoking when they came up with Frog Pocket. Fuckin wackos.

Well, I guess it fit in the late 70's. Maybe he was trying to be more androgynous, like he'd just gotten a sex change or something.

i share the same sentiments. So i guess no more interviews for MD when i have to fake title a thread like "tiesto this that or the other" so people can check the thread out.

we got a lot of people around here these days that don't seem to appreciate what we contribute to the boards so i don't know about the rest of you, but i'm going to stop contributing.

these are the same people that rely on us to ID their unknown tracks, fill in their dj tracklists, give them new tune suggestions that are "spacey" or "vocal" or "chill"...

seriously why are we wasting our time? we all spend a lot of time researching music and finding tunes that we love...we should just stop sharing that with all of these people that are always bitching...

let's face it, those that actually have a genuine interest in talking about music around here are sadly in the minority. i don't remember the last time i actually got a decent answer or good suggestion on this board...i can't remember the last time i found out about a tune on TA that i hadn't already known about...and when i do it's always the same ten people coming through with great sugestions. meanwhile we are excited to share music tastes and ideas with each other just so people with little radio shows can lurk and snatch up some good tracks that we suggest for their show next week.

it's just a bunch of crap. i mean we've already lost the TA battle to a bunch of people that are either promoting their average new tune or their cookie cutter radio show...and those that are just getting into the genre and think they know everything...

it sucks the most for those people that actually appreciate the suggestions of the TA "elitists" and want to expand their personal taste, but unfortunately the majority is ruining it for those people...

but really...lets keep our knowledge and opinions to ourselves. then where will TA be? it'll be a bunch of kids arguing about which tune on ASOT was the best that week, struggling to find new fresh music, wanting to know what that tune that dj played on that radio show was, and wishing they could get some suggestions for some "classics"...

we've tried our best to keep this site full of info, but we've lost...it's not our problem anymore.

THATS REALLY STRIKING RIGHT HERE MAN.

WHAT YOU JUST SAID MEANS ALOT TO ME.

THANKS FOR IT.

i get your point.. but don't you think you're placing too much importance on yourselves? (ourselves?) i mean, that's almost bordering arrogance there.. it is true that suggesting tracks and completing tracklists is contributing for the community, but is this "situation" so important that you must now stop as some sort of protest? i don't honestly think any of these new members that rely on the old base will give a fuck, they'll just get sad for 5 seconds that they didn't get the track they were looking for and proceed with whatever they were doing..

and as been said.. this is just side-effects of the new people coming in and time going by, the "it's just isn't as good as it was before" oldskooler's effect. maybe back then people had a different attitude than now, maybe they were more looking forward to extend their musical knowledge and share it with the others. but if this now oldskool group of people knows a lot more about music it's because it's been several years collecting info about it.

it is natural that when looking at the new members' ignorance we get annoyed cause we've seen it hundreds of times and these people don't appear to learn. but in fact these people do learn, and others take their place of being annoying newcomers. we've been in their place back then and if we were treated like some of them are nowadays, maybe there wouldn't be enough patience to try to contribute to the community with knowledge.

not to say i treat newcomers any good, i've just completely blasted some guy 2 days ago because he liked warp brothers or whatever. that is elitism, and not the way to go. speaking for myself, i've built a tendence to post all the time whenever i have the slightest remark to make.. and shit/not-worth-spending-time-on threads are the ones where those remarks are easier to come up with, so i end up feeding them.. contributing to the community is also a matter of having patience and not doing that. seriously, we should rather talk more about music instead of these long rants about the site or just move to another random board where people would have a bit more knowledge about music..

i'm making a lot of generalizations here, want to make it clear these newcomers i'm talking about aren't directly people with low post count or with a recent join date.. post count is hardly a good measure of knowledge

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Dec-10-2005 02:51:

i think elitists play a major role in the development of the music we listen to. whether or not they are rude and blunt sometimes, it is inspiring producers to go out there and work hard on something fresh and new. the more critisism i get as a producer, the harder i try to do something better, the more satisfied i am with my music, and the more i learn and develop. everything needs critics or else nothing will ever move forward. to those who have critisised my work in the past, thankyou, you have opened doors for me and made me try harder and recognise the importance of being individual. im past the stage where i take such critism personally, and i can appriciate that peoples tastes differ, but the people whos opinions i value most are those who are not afraid to critisise and those who push me to work harder.
