Avoid stopping distance at all costs including on the report.

Act stupid, and innocent.

You're not at fault. When the light turns amber you stop only if you can at a reasonable decent. Sounds like she stopped as if it were red.

will never work, if you hit from behind, its your fault, ALL the time.

its your responsability to drive slow and control your car.

Good point.

Well on the bright side atleast you didn't hit a Ford Pinto and she's not coming after you for whiplash.

Posted by Yohan on Dec-10-2005 03:08:

Good to know that you're okay though Fahad!

Shit happens. Live through it because you will!

Now, make me some good curry.

it was actually firstly underestimated at 7200 and then that was the final price.

huh? how is that supposed to help me? I hit the lady from behind and even if I call it in first I'm still responsible and will be penalized from my insurance company!

Are you on drugs, Malek, cuz normally you make sense...

Ouch. I hate looking at my car when it's damaged. Fuck, I have to get over that. And the skirts are ABSOLUTELY essential. 100% agreed. I guess if I'm about to fork out $5000, an extra $500 won't be too bad, but it still effin hurts!!! (my poor savings )

Big hugs for you sunshine, I am glad you are ok!!!!

Andie

Posted by zoogla on Dec-10-2005 03:26:

I guess God said to me, "Fuck you and your pride, Fahad...eat somma this"

agh. did yo call the cops for the hit and run?

no? good luck buddy.

cause if you get a visit by the cops about a hit and run, you're in deep shit, its a criminal offence, Canadian jail for you.

Malek, I beg you...please give me a plausible suggestion about how to explain the massive dent on the front of my car as a "hit and run" where I am NOT at fault...

Contacting the Collision Centre when I AM AT FAULT means I get screwed. I'm sure you realize it means NOTHING beneficial for ME if that lady ran away AFTER I hit her!!!! Is it only me that sees that?

Furthermore, if I wait, there are only two scenarios:
1) Worst case - the woman taddle-tales and I get contacted by my insurance co./MTO collision centre. In that case, I will try my luck with making up a story, but only because I am FORCED to.
2) Best case - nothing happens, and I'm only stuck with a dent in my WALLET.

P.S. Nice sig! *quelle honeur*

man you must be drunk. Its not about fault here, its about HER CLAIMING YOU DID HIT HER AND RAN AWAY. You will get in deep shit.

Its obviously your fault, but by calling the cops first (which might be too late now) you avoid being dragged in justice.

"getting dragged into justice" in this case doesn't mean jail time at all. It means that I would need to report the collision (if I am contacted to do so), and possible involvement of my insurance company WHICH I AM TRYING TO AVOID!!! If that is my goal, why would I initiate any contact?!

If contacted and asked why I didn't report the collision, I tell them the truth: that the lady, after inspecting her damage, insisted that we can go our own ways and drove off without asking me for any of my information.

It would be totally reasonable under those circumstances for me to go straight to a shop to get my car fixed as I shouldn't be driving a car around in that condition.

I don't see any negative aspects to that.

(and yes I am drunk right now hehehehehe...mmmmm virgin mike's hard lemonade)

Posted by StereoPrincess on Dec-10-2005 08:04:

you have to report this.

definitely.

no question.

there is no fault insurance in ontario.

actually any shop that you bring it will want you to report it and i think they might have to by law.

Not true.

And for millionth time, yes, I understand no-fault insurance, but I'm trying to AVOID this claim!!! By not reporting it, I *hope* to avoid this claim.

Let's see if I get lucky...

Posted by malek on Dec-10-2005 08:16:

i'm missing something here, how is calling the cops connected with a claim??!!?

you can have an accident and not claim it, whats the deal-y o?

Posted by zoogla on Dec-10-2005 08:19:

oh--ok. As our buddy ChemEnhanced (from the insurance industry) mentioned, most insurance companies receive the voluntary collision reports from the collision centres (which is connected to the police).

Therefore, if Fahad report-y, Fahad pay-y.

i also had a small accident before and had to go to the collision centre and the insurance company called me and i told them that i wasn't going to make a claim. they were fine with it. just wanted to make sure.

when i had my second accident. i didn't make a police report just a claim. and insurance still paid for the damages.

what you are not getting is that when the girl goes through her insurance and reports you they will find your insurance company.

what happens with insurance is that each company pays their customer and the companies fight it out after for the money to get back from the company of the customer that was at fault.

with you not getting any of her info you are sort of shit out of luck because she can't contact you just her insurance. who the fuck knows, she may have no deductible and some sort of deal with her premiums.

i know that you want people to cheer you up so i will add as everyone has already that the most important thing is that you are ok.

Posted by zoogla on Dec-10-2005 08:55:

Thanks, Margs! Another reason for my post was to also get advice about the best action to take and you guys are DEFINITELY helping by giving me insight that I didn't have before...

To clarify...

Is that because the costs to repair the damages were less than your deductible? Also, did the insurance co. record this as an at-fault accident for you? Because that's what I'm trying to avoid here. Same question goes for your second example...were both of these the other person's fault? If so, you're clear! I, however, am not.

And yeah, if she goes to her insurance co., I'm fucked either way! The accident WAS my fault, after all, so I'm prepared for that consequence (which of course, is not as severe as Malek made it out to be). By not reporting, there's a chance I can get away with it...I think...
