As far as iTunes, you don't have to use it, there are other programs that have plug-ins that allow you to sync music using them. WinAmp for sure has one.

I personally really like my iPod. Tons of space, easy to sort and play music, and my battery life it great. I know there are a ton of other great MP3 players out there, iRiver is really good for example, but the only reason I bought my iPod is because there are so many accessories for them. Good luck finding a leather case, sound-dock or in-car connection for an MP3 player other than an iPod; chances are it's going to take you way longer.

I use mine everyday, to and from school, and also as a removable hard-drive for school work. Never once has it failed or done me wrong.

Sorry for anybody that has had bad experiances with theirs.

Yup, yup!

1) One must install the iPod software on purchase to format the device and update it with the latest firmware.

2) IMO - iTunes should be installed and checked once in a blue moon to ensure that there are no device updates for the iPod.

3) One can stop iTunes from loading on boot and auto-recognizing/loading upon iPod detect.

Stop fretting about quality - unless you buy youself one of those 150 Shure earbuds, the earbuds that come with the player are gonna pretty much destroy whatever quality they have. Every audiophile will tell you one thing and one thing only - it's always about the speakers.

Alright cool. I should just go test a bunch out at futureshop or something. I die without music everywhere I go, it hurts.

iPods aren't a fad anymore...they're well beyond that. Apple has successfully taken over the mainstream market with this thing, and it's not going away any time soon. Just look at how people talk about their iPod as if it were their best friend

As for sound quality; after you buy your MP3 player go to the Sony Store and check out their Fontopia in-ear headphones.

Which brings me to my next question, earphones.

Decent pair that aren't huge that I can get at a local future shop or best buy? Preferably something that doesn't fall out of my ears (my right ear is small and budds always fall out) or too big (I'm not looking for the DJ size phones).

Go for the 59.99 ones.

Sounds good, thanks.

Posted by infinity HiGH on Dec-15-2005 03:06:

np.

and don't worry about them being too small; they come packed with 3 different sizes of earbuds. And the sound quality is amazing. Better than most big headphones.

Posted by Blu3z on Dec-15-2005 04:35:

The only question left is: where do I get the iriver or iaudios?

Futureshop only has the iriver h10 but no iaudios. Websites would be helpful too so I can see what store has what.

thats a good question...one that i'd like to know the answer to, too.

edit: i think u may have to order them online...the iaudios that is. I checked their website and when u click "Where To Buy" and select North America...the only have the USA...apparently Mexico and Canada aren't a part of N. America...

Check out the prices.

for the iaudio x5 at least, i heard you can purchase them at staples, check staples.ca

i bought mine at mp3me at vaughan mills.

quick review, its an awesome mp3 player, my only gripe with it is that the battery didnt last as long as i liked it to.

trust me, go with the iaudio x5L, which is 25 hours or so of battery life compared to the x5's 10 or so.

If they have the X5 I'll just grab it from there then. I've decided on the 60 gig X5

They don't make the 60 gig with the better battery.

another great player. They dont make it anymore so its harder to find. (and for a good price lol not 500+ from australia )

So I opted for the newer iaudio x5L.
