I just don't understand how Lawler can just cut his set short... did he not see how psyched people were to see him?!?!?

yeah but lawler is one of the biggest assholes in the industry @ aria in 2004 i think it was he was suppose to play 8 hours and stopped after 1 hour and 30 mins becuase the equipment even though it could have probaly been fixed. i think he was later spotted that nite partying @ stereo

He's sssooooo gooooood too...

Let me mention it again: wtf is up with them blasting the white lights in the morning? We don't want to be reminded of daylight...

I saw this, because i was in the bleachers at like 5am. I was just resting a bit, and saw that they were slowly raising the lights near the roof of the center. They also started to just display the Gods sign in white alone.

They turned the lights back down, and then back up later in the morning.

You'd think they'd hire a professional lighting tech...

It just makes sense, a rave should never be bright, it should be dark, dingy, and hidden from the light.

I don't understand the (seemingly) negative reviews here. I thought it was a good party and had a great time.

First of all, the organization, setup, etc was top notch, better than cream. The live dancers were a nice treat too hehe. The only complaint was that tickets from ticketbreak had to be exchanged, costing me 30min at the beginning (in addition to the steep price). The free fruits was a nice touch.

Dj wise, I was actually pleasently surprised. However, apart from putting on some nice classics, Oakie was shit . Worst mixing I have ever heard live. Like someone already mentioned, it seems like he just doesn't care anymore. I thought Fabi was great, my favorite of the night. He played some nice tribal and made me understand why so many ppl like it (was never a fan of tribal before). Lawler continued with some tribal, mixing in electro later on in his set. He was good, but I too was surprised that he left early. Lippe was ok, some of it good and some not so good.

The crowd was basically as expected. It's true that there was a litle less interaction between groups. But I think this is due to it being NYE, with ppl coming in bigger groups than normal and just weanting to chill together. It wasn't as bad as some ppl here are making it out to be though.

Anyways, great night.

Celebration was good
went with a massive crew, they made the party for me
fabi was good (does anybody know who did the rmx of U2's "with or without you" he opened with?)
lawler even better. i found his style was like holden's (last time he was at aria)
but with lawler's signature deep tribal sound. it was awesome either way
anyways im still in recovery ...

Yeah honestly when they did that it killed the hell out of my vibe...you turn on the lights when the party's over and everyone should be leaving, not when there's 2 hours left...I can understand a flash of bright light here and there, but they were on for waaay too long.

Anyway it seems people did enjoy Lawler's set, so I guess it's just me! I thought I liked hard tribal house, but really it just didn't do it for me at Celebration. Personally, I live for the tracks that stand out, the ones that get EVERYONE in the place going crazy and yeah, I didn't find that ever really happend...It was just the same thing forever and ever with no song ever standing out from the one before it.

OK, so, I get to Bell Centre and find out my ticket was a fake one. So I had 1 hr and 20 mins to go home, get more cash, come back, purchase the ticket, find my friends and get on that dancefloor before midnight hit I was scared...very scared. But I made it. I got there at around 11:20pm (perfect timing) and it all went smoothly from there.

This was my 1st rave and I really tried mentally prepping myself for what I was gonna experience. I shouldn't have bothered. Such an overwhelming feeling when you walk through those curtains and see ALL THOSE FKN CLUBBERS!

Paul Oakenfold was spinning (if u wanna call it that). I didn't go for him but still, he played a track, he chit-chatted, he did a basic, highly simplistic transition into the next track and he chit-chatted some more. Repeat this for 2 hours. The only time I remember him feeling it was a few minutes after midnight: he was jumping and waving his hands around (maybe he did a line? LOL Cokenfold...) I've said it before, I'm a house girl but I appreciated trance a lil more when I left that party. U2 - With or Without You gave me goosebumps. He played Traffic *yawn* but it was sickkkkkk to hear it at a rave.

Franco Fabi was highly impressive from what I remember. It was him that dropped Du Wut U Du right? I was sitting in the stands when I heard that come on, it was like shit! This song! At a rave? SWEET! This huge collective massive sound came from the crowd when the biggest drop in the song hit. It was so nice...

STEVE LAWLER = GOD and I don't give a shit what any of you say. The ONLY and I mean ONLY bad thing was that he didn't stay the whole 5 hours. He played roughly 3 hours and it was really insanity. That plus more tribal would have been nice too but he's moved away from tribal towards electro and he's still a God. He played a few tracks from Lights Out Vol. 3. And if you guys didn't have the 'connection' with him that night, I feel bad, very bad for you...CUZ I DID

Steve Lawler played these tracks from his latest album:
1) Moogment - Alex McCulloch
2) Creaky Thoughts (Original Mix but without vocals) - Anja Schneider
3) Obsessive Sound - Alex Dolby
4) Hugs N Kisses - Criss Source

Stephane Lippe...I knew he was good from what people have told me. I really liked what he played (very dark dirty underground beats) but his style wasn't consistent. (That's what I love about Lawler, u know it's him spinning by his sound). He kept me dancing for a good 2 hours and then I had to rest I didn't want to but I started feeling pain hehehe...

One thing which was not needed was that guy Marcus007 mentionned who overdosed. I was dancing with Marcus007 and his crew, and all of a sudden, the guy ceases everything, drops to the floor and begins to convulse uncontrollably. Not to mention the foaming at the mouth. Poor guy...I wanted to cry I was so scared...

I left at around 9:30amish. Big smiles to all the people who I partied, danced with and saw there. Max, I know you tried telling me how good it was gonna be, but now I know that words can't express that feeling I'm so happy about my 1st rave experience all together. And I can't wait to dance again

My right leg is totally fkd. After 13 hours of that kind of dancing, I'm surprised I'm not dead hehehehe...

Oh yeah, my night didn't end there. At 9:45am, I was in a cab going to see Howells at Aria...check my review out on that thread...

I just saw how long my review is...Sorry hehe...

Posted by Tag on Jan-03-2006 01:14:

Crackheads....did anyone do anything about the dude on the floor or did you guys try to ignore the guy and keep dancing?

Posted by Marcus007 on Jan-03-2006 01:21:

I went to see a security guard and the guy ran off mumbling "I know, I know". I think someone had already told him.

I asked a paramedic later in the morning and he told me they got the guy to an ambulance right away and he's safe. I think its true because it looked like someone had poured a bucket of water on him and he seemed to return to reality...

Erika, don't worry about your long review, all that matters is that you enjoyed yourself. Right back at you.

Good old marcuss i thought you would of done something...and the good all water trick...remember someone having to use that one at aria when someone went totally comatose.

Posted by Marcus007 on Jan-03-2006 01:54:

Tag, man, I'm confused... come again? All water trick? Comatose at ARIA?

Posted by djole071 on Jan-03-2006 02:02:

WOW that guy who OD'd was pretty scary... ridiculous...

I came all the way from Toronto.. I liked the party a lot, and ive never been to one as big as this. The set up was awesome considering I haven't seen any Celebrations before this. I got the shivers when I walked into the arena through that hallway. Absolutely nuts!

Sean Miller ripped that bitch. The highlight of the whole night was when he dropped "Dr Kucho! - Disc Doctor (Side B Tribal Ave Mix)"... It sounded amazing.

As for Lawler, yes it was dissapointing that his set was really short. Last time he was in Toronto for his LO3 tour he dropped pure tribal tracks. It was different to hear a lot of electro this time. I found his set amazing.

That DJ after him was really repetitive after like the 5th song.

All in all it was a good party and I look forward to comin back next year.

wow sorry many, i confused myself for a bit there...umm the OLD water trick, some girl at aria seemed to be in a coma at aria once....everyone was freakin a bit expecially her friends....we could get her to wake up than some dude came and poured some water on her face and bam! she was awake but looked like she had just been hit in the face with a brick...poor girl/

Posted by fastmp3 on Jan-03-2006 02:47:

Erika who sold you a fake a ticket ?

Posted by Epicurus on Jan-03-2006 02:55:

So apparently, I learned (through Louis this afternoon) that Sean Miller was on the decks for only 18 minutes before Lawler came on, and that Franco Fabi was spinning the entire time before that. Thus, I ammend my review to include a big thumbs up to Fabi for an awesome set, and a great 18 minutes of Sean Miller

good for you man doing the right thing. Some people would just try to ignore it so it wouldn't ruin their night

*SIGH*...My cousin's boyfriend. It's so not his fault. He got them from another dude whose legs got broken on NYE for selling over 50 fake tickets. So, it's all good. My cousin's boyfriend paid me back the $75 I paid for my fake ticket plus my cousin felt so bad that she insisted on paying a huge part so all in all, Celebration = $15 from my pocket

Posted by fastmp3 on Jan-03-2006 03:49:

it's all cool
