Trance producers should take more drugs to invent something new into the genre

allen hehe why wasnt i suprised when i saw u in this topic? hehe cheer buddy!

i can say up to 90% of the ravers here do experiment with recreational drugs... 5 out of the 100 either couldnt find their drugs or forgot them in their car... and the other 5 percent well i dont know about them i dont look!
why is using drugs a big deal? if you really know how to use them then even if ur listening to tiesto (comming from a prog house backround its not easy to listen to trance and more over i only listen to quality music therefore i despise tiesto) it would make you move and enjoy your self... i remember back in October Lebanon had its biggest event... "tiesto in lebanon" gathered 18-20000 people... if you guys know anything about Lebanon you would know that its in a very poor political phase... lots of events taking place... explosions are something normal to us now... its a way of life but the stress is still there... thats why all of us wait impatiently for our next gig... i guess the ravers here actually unite with the music... We dance for peace! We have 10-15 hours of dancing where we forget everything thats going on around us we dance to remember reality! We dance to prove our existence!
asgloomy as this whole post may seem.... edm and drugs is a combination made by God... if you dont like it dont make a big deal out of it...

Personally, I'd rather enjoy mild euphoria for the rest of my life than experience extreme ecstacy for punctuated periods over a few years before it's impossible for me to even be happy because my serotonin receptors are gone. There are some things that aren't worth it, in my opinion.

Some have. They started making IDM. What does that tell you?

moderation is the key

drugs push further ur limits of perceptions..agree or not, i'd just like to remind u that our brain filters 3/4 of the sensed info..leaving a small portion of what u perceive and what defines ur current state of mind.

drugs and music have been used long time ago, such as the Peyote Cactus by indians tribes in mexico(1890 years before the arrival of the Europeans)..drugs are party of man's history....whetere ur a "drug adept" or not..that's not the problem..the main issue is not to misuse of it, the main isue is to respect others choice 2..

i can barely stand a "sober" guy looking pathetically at others.
wtf?!..."do u have an idea what they are experiencing right now?"
"loose ur mindless ego-game sir and join the crowd"
Am not generelazing..sober or 'on smthg' is (again) not the point, it's the state of mind...except few those who take (and understood) drugs have embraced this state of mind.

p.s:
what should be banned is alcohol.

Posted by orl on Jan-07-2006 20:02:

..

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-07-2006 20:57:

Alcohol is still a drug.

Posted by orl on Jan-07-2006 21:12:

You'll never find a person high on weed or XTC that will start a fight with some other person.

Also nicotin should be banned, it's a drug that has the same potential of addiction like heroin.

But...oh...I forgot...government is making such huge amount of money with the taxes on alcohol and tobaco

It's a strange world where drugs like alcohol and tobacco that make so many people ill and kill them finally are allowed and drugs that have no negativ effect on the health of someone like marihuana are forbidden

Strange that it's happened to me then, isn't it? What a fucking stupid generalisation.

Oh, and there was an article in Mixmag this month that discusses a proven link between weed and psychosis. It's not as harmless as you think.

You know that you never know what's actually in your XTC pill. If you have MDMA only I guarentee you that you are the happiest person in the world and the last thing you will do is hurt another person...

Of course it's not harmless if you use every day.

I just wanted to say that alcohol is a huge problem in modern society because many people die of it. It truly destroys your brain and body plus makes you aggressive.

And the government is making a lot of many with these "legal" drugs while other drugs that aren't more dangerous are forbidden.

It's even forbidden to use marihuana for cancer patients to reduce their pain, instead they use chemical pills from the pharma industry...

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-07-2006 22:30:

It wasn't E... some guys smoking weed got hostile over nothing. Alcohol doesn't make people violent- it merely removes the restraint of already violent people.

Anyway... alcohol isn't harmful in restraint. No drug is. The reason that most drugs are illegal is because they fuck you over in much smaller doses.

Posted by sleepydragon on Jan-07-2006 23:15:

illegal drugs fuck u up mentally
legal drugs mess u up physically.
thats the difference but i still do agree that if achohol and tabacco were discovered tomorrow they would be class A drugs. Its ironic that those 2 legal drugs kill more people than every illegal drug put together u just have to look at all the social problems caused by alcohol u dont get people that take pills stumbling about walking the streets on a friday & saturday night starting fights.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-07-2006 23:40:

But the point is... you legalise cocaine and heroin and just watch how many people it will kill. The only reason alcohol and cigarettes kill so many people is because they're legal. You either make all drugs illegal to minimise deaths, or you make them all legal... for what?

I agree that weed is a bit harsh to be considered illegal, but E should remain illegal. If you legalise something, people lose restraint because they can get away with it.

Posted by sleepydragon on Jan-07-2006 23:49:

i dont think it would make a difference to how many people took drugs if there legal or not people can take what drugs they want now if they want to i dont think the fact that there illegal puts many people of the chances of getting caught using some of theses drugs is minimal its one of the last things u need to worry about before making the decision to take something.
Plus if drugs were legal they would be much safer to take anyway cose what goes into them would be controlled by the government so there would be hardly any crap in ur pills and they would be weaker which would be bad news for drug takers most takers would prefer them to stay illegal for that reason.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-07-2006 23:59:

I think it'd make a huge difference. There'd be no checks on the door, no need to hide them, and they'd be easily available. If people had to keep stealthy about alcohol then there'd be a huge reduction in binge drinking and general consumption.

Posted by wrzonance on Jan-08-2006 00:30:

Sadly, the only time I've ever really been f'd on any sort of substance was in the comfort of my own home.

All other times I've been to "raves" which aren't really raves anymore just... dance music events, really; I've been completely sober.

Sad huh?

Posted by orl on Jan-08-2006 00:39:

of couse not DJFreaq..
Raves are places where u can do whatver u want , under only 1 condition: keep the P.L.U.R
i know many who used to go to raves to escape the annoyance of ethylic intoxicated people (no offense to anyone ,in any way) and to enjoy the music...even though they're sober all the time...
But that was before , unfortunatly nowadays, as u said , raves arent RAVES anymore...(regardless few exceptions)

Likely much less than it does now, left unregulated and a lot of times laced with stuff that will kill you.

Non-sequitur fallacy. Intoxication kills, and lung cancer kills, and alcohol and cigarrettes are legal, but there is no proof that one is in any way causal or related to the other. In fact there is proof that legalizing them might decrease problems, for during the alcohol prohibition period in America, crime as well as alcohol abuse both increased.

"Prohibition ended in 1933 because the nation's most influential people, as well as the general public, acknowledged that it had failed. It had increased lawlessness and drinking and aggravated alcohol abuse."
- Thomas M. Coffey, author of THE LONG THIRST-PROHIBITION IN AMERICA: 1920-1933

quote:
You either make all drugs illegal to minimise deaths, or you make them all legal... for what?

One, if all drugs were regulated by the government, users wouldn't have to worry about drugs laced with cyanide and shit. Well over half of drug related deaths in America are due to highly toxic things being put into the drugs. Legalizing drugs would save more lives than it could possibly take. Two, the billions of dollars currently going into the pockets of drug lords could be going to the government, and subsequently, the improvement of everyone's lives through the increased revenues. Three, the millions(billions) of dollars currently going into trying to prevent drug use could be used for other, more productive things, like drug treatment and rehabilitation.

quote:
If you legalise something, people lose restraint because they can get away with it.

Yet in Amsterdam, where Marijuana is legal, it is used less frequently than in the United States on average.

The bottom line is, trying to actively prevent drug use has never worked and will never work. America can't even keep its own prison inmates from using illegal drugs, much less the general public.

"The more prohibitions you have, the less virtuous people will be... Try to make people moral, and you lay the groundwork for vice."
- Lao-tsu

"Vices are simply the errors which a man makes in search after his own happiness. In vices, the very essence of crime--that is, the design to injure the person or property of another--is wanting."
- Lysander Spooner

i didnt get 1 thing m8
u mean ,if they were legal , pills would be weaker?...why?

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-08-2006 00:52:

You can't really compare 1930s America with today- the amount of binge drinkers and alcohol related violence has increased over time. Today, people going out and drinking excessively on a regular basis is more frequent than ever, which is why the government are putting huge energy into cutting down on it. People would not abuse alcohol in such large numbers on such a large scale- simply because they wouldn't be able to do it in public like they do now. It'd have to be under wraps. Similarly with cigarettes. It's incredibly easy to get hold of cigarettes anywhere- and it's extensive heavy smoking that kills people. Class As rarely kill people over an extended period of abuse- like you say, it's commonly bad shit or an OD that does it- it's the unpredictability that makes them dangerous. People will wait between fixes, but they can smoke on a regular basis. If smoking was banned then the opportunity to abuse it would fall.

Then, if you make something legal, the government will put a huge tax increase on it- the price will rise. The drug-motivated crime would increase because it'd be harder to afford a habit. And because it's easier to get hold of, addicts will try and get sorted more often.

The Amsterdam thing could well say more about the difference in culture between the Dutch and Americans than anything else.
