Is this different than ports being blacklisted/blocked?
I use ABC Torrent and Mixing Bowl (I think...or UKTA) blacklisted the default ports and a quick search lead to the whole 'port forwarding' issue.
All I did was change the port setting in ABC and I was fine to d/l. I changed NOTHING on my Linksys router settings (i.e. did not forward the ports)...this was also through Rogers in the DT core, no torrent issues, to my knowledge.
I've since (~2 months ago) moved to DSL (yay Beanfield! 
) and haven't changed a thing either and ABC works fine with the same settings...?

whoever mentioned changing your port to 1720 (the voip port) THANKS A MILLION....i'm downloading torrents at great speeds once again, foiling stupid rogers.

shitty times but it was inevitable - they been advertising high speed unlimited access for years but never really built a network designed to have a majority of users constantly down/upping 24/7
kinda like how everybody and their dog has a phone line but the actual phone network would grind to a halt if every single customer was on it making a call at the exact same time (depending on provider/area)
^ I enjoy paying 50+ bucks for a service they are not equipped to provide.

The highest i got to download at on a torrent was like 120 kbps (using videotron extreme high speed cable). Which I find slow as hell.
well ive had bell since thurs, and lets just say i d/led 3 dvds in since that time
i got around 100kbps per torrent which was nice to see
im definitley sticking with bell for a while
for torrents you're supposed to portforward (if you have a router)... but I've tried it all, but I still get shitty speeds.
I tried it a few times but nothin... I've pretty much givin up on it. So instead i just leave my torrents running, and eventually it finishes. Usually it doesnt take more than 4-5hrs, which is not too bad.
Yup, I did it all.
opened ports in the router, client, and the windows firewall. Even tried turning off the firewall. Still got nothin
