i guess the advantage of him using abelton is that there's no cd's for him to throw at people. I guess the exception to this is that if he is really mixing b4 the set, he's probably playing football manager during it

it doesn't sound bad compared to the "a state of gash" (picture armin van buuren sticking his fingers in his ears) type of trance

sick show.

in what way? he still has impecable trackselection and his mixing is, I think, even better than before (no doubt cuz of ableton). only difference is hes using a program instead of cd/vinyl.

maybe you dont like the music hes spinning these days?

Posted by Clovis on Jan-10-2006 16:32:

Actually he fucks up more on ableton than he did with CDs/vinyl.

lol

I have seen Sasha play live and seen with my own eyes him mixing between 5 tracks in ableton live, simultaneously. But it seems like he only gets really creative every once in awhile...when he's in the mood.

Posted by RapidFire on Jan-10-2006 16:37:

does he? ive never heard him trainwreck it with ableton

i mean how can you? doesent it autobeatmatch?

if you ever read these forums nowadays taha, you'd know I detest ASOT style stuff even more so than sasha (but only just )

as for the whole laptop being thrown. I don't think he's that stupid.. well I hope he isn't.

Posted by Laszlo on Jan-10-2006 18:11:

Don't worry guys - you CAN trainwreck with Ableton. My absolute first experience with Ableton was nothing but a trainwreck. But it really takes a dumbass (or genius) like me to pull it off...

I have a harder time fucking up on CDJs than in Ableton. Especially when multiple loops are going, its hard to stay on top of everything, and things can go wrong very quickly. Its also easy to trainwreck...all it takes is some improper warping, or a loop region thats off mark, or a bad track start point and you will have a trainwreck-o-matic in your hands.

In his Pure festival set, the mix from Aftermath into Some Kind Of Freak, the warping is wrong and it wrecks sllightly.

When I saw him in Vegas, a track launch mode was incorrect, and when he dropped it in it was an instant wreck, which he fixed pretty fast.

And Ian, I think its more about you not being too keen on the music sasha plays than his ability.

Gotta check that out - I've listened to this set a billion times. I really love it, but I never noticed that...

edit: just listened to it and you're right. It's clearly noticeable that the beats aren't perfectly lined up. Can't believe I didn't notice this earlier...

tbh mate, going back to the early 90s, sasha has just never ever interested me in the playlists. Carl Cox back in 90-93/4 was great with the oldskool sound, sasha played stuff even then that i didn't enjoy at all, and he's s een by so many as some sort of god or cool person to be into, like life doesn't begin unless you're into him, but I just don't see the fascination at all
