They're the kind where you can control everything that happens in them. I used to have them when I was younger they were pretty cool!

I was having a nightmare when I was younger (Night of the Living Dead) and when I was about to die I realized I was dreaming. I could then control my dream and all of a sudden I had super powers and was kicking zombie ass! Ever since then during some random dream Ill realize Im dreaming and be able to control that dream. Is this weird? Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Yep. They are super cool, and what's interesting is that the memory is clearer than a normal dream, I guess because of being semi-conscious. I don't know if this jibes with anybody else here, but in addition to the element of control, I'd describe a lucid dream as being in colour whereas normal dreams are in black-and-white.

Dreams break the rules of reality, so if you keep asking yourself a certain question and answering it while you're awake (either intentionally or because you're preoccupied with it), then if that "question" comes up in your dream, it can trigger a lucid dream by making you realize that you can't possibly be awake.

Last time it happened to me, I started off dreaming that I had woken up (oddly enough), and looked at the clock, and then looked at it a second time and it was a completely different number. So I realized that I obviously hadn't woken up. I read somewhere that that's typical in a dream - if you "read" the same thing twice in a dream it will be completely different the second time. So keep doing this while you're awake until it becomes an unconscious habit, and you might have a lucid dream. Of course, which signals actually work is different for everyone.

It's only happened to me a few times that I can remember, but even once is pretty awesome. I'd be curious to know how many people who have had lucid dreams are also prone to occasional sleep paralysis - they seem to be similar phenomena.

The other night i had a nightmare of T-rex's chasing me around downtown. When the would get too close i would hide in a narrow alley , but i would always be on the move. I was even on the subway in my dream and running away with other people,

I also get that falling dream every so often..

the falling dream - usually in/ around big decisions in my life. How your body is able to feel as if it is falling blows my mind. hah How the fack does it do that. I swear I've fallen out of 6 million airplanes.

haha I've also been shot a million times, I'm always hunted down columbine style, and the bastards always find me... and they always fucking shoot me. Yet I never die. I'm always like "ok I'm going to die now, shitty" haha But I never panic or anything. I'm always at ease with it, which is pretty scary I guess.

THE CELEBRITY DREAMS!!!!

I've had so many retarted celebrity dreams. Like being best friends with Tom Cruise and going for coffee. haha Random shit like that. I'll wake up totally believe it happened. Awesome.

I had a mad fucked up dream about Johan like a month ago! Really fucking sketchy and trippy!

I was DEF like "Whut the hell!" after I woke up from it... it was so strange and trippy... and just generally MESSED up.

Many of the details are iffy now, just the memory of how utterly strange and disquieting it was!
