I suggest you read up on the 03.06 Iran Oil Bourse that is in the works. Iran definitely will be a problem to the **Western world**.

lol thanks for tip..old news

Regardless of the underlying oil conerns...a nuclear iran poses no problem to the middle east stability nor to isreal? as well as parts of europe? Considering how their president and co. have been running their mouths, I'd say thats enough to call it an international issue, which will and should include the "western world", along with the rest.

it was gonna be hard sell to use sanctions let alone force in iran, but the way their new president has been acting, hes just asking for it. He (along with iran) now looks worse than bush/usa to most of the world..thats no small feat.

wurm...this pretty much explains it all

I didn't know BBC, Globe and Mail and Canada.com were considered 'conservative' media.

What would inspire you to refer to that as old news? Its as current as tommarow.

what do u think they are doing there right now?

They were sent to war in arghanistan and they are still in combat mode to this day.

We have to keep up our responisbilities. I do agree with not sending troops to iraq but we have to decide these on a case by case basis.

Liberals sent canadians to war in arghanistan and Kosovo in the last few years.

And yes to WAR not just as peacekeepers which in itself is a form of combat in many situations.

lol your comments inspired me
You implied that i think the only issue with iran is their nuclear ambitions/president, since i only read "conservative news". Like i said i've been following iran for a few years and am aware of what they are trying to do, hence its old news.

The longest minority government in Canadian history was 1300 days, or about 4 years. I doubt this one will last that long, but since we've just had 2 federal elections in 18 months, this one could approach the 2.5 to 3 year mark, depending on national mood.

People aren't going to want to rush out to the polls and the Liberals need time to elect a new leader, augment their policies while going back to the drawing board. They won't push one for one until at least Spring 2007 and the Bloc and NDP...well who cares about them.

But it all depends on how forceful Harper becomes on pushing his agenda and/or his hidden agenda. All governments introduce new things that aren't in the platforms (Mulroney's GST for example) so we'll see soon enough. If he goes hard on the gay marriage issue, or wants to get in on the missile defence, that could easily bring his government down quickly. Abortion is another issue that would kill his government.

I'm predicting at least a year...maybe 2.5
