Honestly, I've learned a lot about certain people just from these threads... things are said that most would never know about that person's character.

recognized/appreciated for what is the point.

skill/talent/knowledge = fair enough. everybody likes to have their abilities recognized.. if the thread was for a dj and that's what people commented about, great!

being nice/smiling/saying nice things = honestly if you need to read an appreciation thread to find out these things about someone, you obviously hardly know them and your time would be better spent finding out yourself by making the effort to spend time getting to know them. and if you are avoiding getting to know them simply because you don't know if they'll be nice, again

Oh please, that's not my point. No one NEEDS threads to get to know people. I don't see most people on TA on a regular basis... so, it's pretty hard to get to know someone the way you're referring to except at the odd event you cross paths at. So what I'm saying is that I've learned some things about people I wouldn't have necessarily known without these threads (special things they did for someone, things they said... things referring directly to the character of a person that sometimes take years to discover about them). It was a side point... it was a positive point within the "douchebag" comments. Just take it for what it is without having to pick it apart with rediculous assumptions about my intentions towards getting to know people here... if you knew me, you'd know you're way off base. The entire purpose of Paradigm is to create a community of like-minded people... that's why we created it.

read posts at face value without over-analizing it in a negative light to try to make someone feel stupid...

some of you are seriously anal

if you don't like the thread. don't click on it. don't like a poster, theres an ignore button. someone wants to tell others that so and so made a positve impact on their life..jesus christ. let them.

i can't say i like all of the threads here..and i think some of you really never contribute anything positive to the board. but tough luck

if no body likes the threads, the slip down to second page soon enough

live and let live

Which means, those who like appreciation threads are either retarded, or just complete douche bags.

There are twice as many people who like Hip Hop, than those who like HOUSE. Does it make you feel retarded?

Why dont you just STFU, go have a good sex with your girl friend, smoke a cig and RELAX!?

Like seriously! Stop this shit! noone asks you to kiss our asses or read the threads you are not interested in!

STOP CRYING!

Seriously!

I think you're taking this too personally Sasha. I don't recall any comments being directed solely at you. Nothing wrong with ppl voicing their opinions.

Ok Happy Gilmore!

offtopic

People deserve the government they have.

All of us are complaining about how fucked our province is with it's stupid lows, rules and bureaucratic BS!

I have no offence to any of you, but most of us do not deserve any other government rather than what we have now!

my point is: PEOPLE ARE STUPID! yes, YOU are stupid, and prolly its not even your fault. And yes, I am stupid as well since I'm wasting my time arguing about NOTHING!

Dont shut my mouth, dont tell me what to say. Dont tell me what to appreciate and what to love! If you have an opinion, say it! But DO NOT COMMAND!

peace out

believe me that's the last thing i was trying to do, i'm sorry if you felt i was attacking you, my opinion is not directed at you.

honestly your post just kinda led into the point i was trying to make. maybe i should have said "my point" at the end. if every post in an appreciation thread was an anecdote about their character, i wouldn't be posting in this thread at all.

I don't see a ton of those, mostly just polite compliments ("you're always smiling","you're such a sweet person","i love your energy" etc...) if I'm going to tell someone I like that they always have a smile on their face (and believe me, I do) I do it in person.

Compare the original RJ appreciation thread = Lots of anecdotes vs. Lots of compliments.

you're right..

I suppose mine can also be considered a statement directed at many TAs also... cuz it seems most have too much fun in trying to put others down... they would rather tear someone apart instead of working towards making the community tighter. These appreciation threads may be rampant from time to time... but I also feel the negativitely being expressed here is FAR more rampant.. and annoying. So, sometimes seeing a happy bumpin appreciation or birthday thread is a nice change from the pointless negativity we see so often here... even if it means some are full of useless comments... at least they bring something positive... know what I mean?

I say to each their own... open the threads that interest you.. skip over the ones that don't... pretty simple
