Anyone know if Forsberg was cleared to play at all? Last I heard was he was still suffering from usual mid-season groin injury.

I would not be suprised in the USA lost against Latvia..

My team to win it is Canada. They are by far the deepest team in the tournament and with Sakic as captian he'll lead the way.

its now 3-2 Latvia...lol...

USA CRUMBLING... jet lag?

Sweden did it today, but they won. I guess most of the teams are jetlaged besides the Slovak's and Russians..

It's pretty funny that you're actually losing to Latvia..

Bengt-ke Gustafsson has given Peter Forsberg 3 days to check if he can play. If he can't play and skate properly, he won't be playing. That's the newest stuff..

Mattias Norstrm won't be playing either, he's injured from what I've heard and it became offical that he won't play around 9AM this morning GMT+1..

All I can say is:

MARIAN GABORIK

He's fucking amazing.

Posted by zoric on Feb-15-2006 22:17:

USA fucked up.

Although they played very very good in the end of the match and was very close to score a final goal.

Going to be a very interesting day tomorrow, alot of great matches!

an Upset Tie
USA got stonewalled, they created plenty of opps.

BTW Chelios looks like he needs crutches.

Switzerland beats Czech Republic 3-2
maybe it's early, but this tournament is becoming very unpredictable

Posted by zoric on Feb-16-2006 14:41:

A little because of the two early results. Never expected Valon and Switzerland to win over the Czech's..

Posted by Spartan on Feb-16-2006 15:28:

Is this the biggest victory in Swiss hockey history?

Posted by zoric on Feb-16-2006 15:37:

VALON!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by zoric on Feb-16-2006 15:43:

Sweden vs. Russia 0-0 after one period.

It's been a pretty good game so far, although I'm looking for goals in the second period

I'm partial for Sweden, just b/c my last name ends in -quist, and I feel like half the hockey team are my long lost cousins.

Hehe

Are you originally from Scandinavia/Sweden? Alot of swedes emigrated to America back in the 1800th-century and forward.

It sucks that we're down with 3 goals when the 3rd period is about too start..

Sweden has to start keeping their own play in the russians defensive half. They have to play alot more agressive and stop losing the puck all the time. The russians is too fast for that kind of play and Henrik can't save everything..

yah its def. my long lost heritage, although the Berquist clan that I belong to here is now more American than apple pie.

and I agree about the game, Sweden has to start consistently moving into Russia's side in situations other than fast breaks.

WHAT U ALL CAN EXPECT AT THE WORLD CUP TOO!

Hehe. Sounds pretty cool

Sweden couldn't do anything to Russia today because the russians played really good. I've got to say that we had a pretty bad day and problems in the defence. It sucks to lose 5-0 against Russia, really..

Mats Sundin, Henrik Lundquist and Samuel Phlsson was the only players who can get a decent grade from this match and I'm truly dissapointed with the defensive play. The Russians got a lot of free chances and they could've won with even more. There's something more that irritates me, the bad Powerplay, We've scored something like 2 times on 2 games, Bad, Indeed.

A big match by Russia, Nabokov, Malkin, Kovalev, Datsyuk do I have to continue with the list, They were all fucking great today and they crushed us on the counter attacks they got.

Peter Forsberg is going to train tomorrow and check if he can play in the tournament, alot of us in Sweden is hoping that he can play and ofcourse that he's fit. If he's not fit, then New York Rangers Michael Nylander will get the chance to play for Sweden, not a bad replacement, But Peter is Peter..

VALON!!!!!!!!!

Posted by partyhopper on Feb-16-2006 18:18:

Slovakia beats Latvia, 6-3
so perhaps their win over Russia wasn't a fluke
It seems to me that they could be the surprise team playing for a medal.

If US beats Kazakhstan, then they'll move into 2nd place behind Slovakia
If they don't, they'll be in trouble

Posted by zoric on Feb-16-2006 18:49:

Losing to Kazakhstan can't be accepted.

Posted by partyhopper on Feb-17-2006 01:31:

good, US bounces back to beat Kazakhstan, 4-1

Canada rolls over Germany, 5-1

Posted by zoric on Feb-17-2006 12:40:

Expected results, everything else would be a major failure..

Posted by zoric on Feb-18-2006 11:00:

Todays line-up:

11:30 Kazakhstan vs. Russia
13:00 Italy vs. Germany
15:30 Canada vs. Switzerland
17:00 Sweden vs. Latvia
20:30 Slovakia vs. USA
21:00 Czech Republic vs. Finland

Another great day of Olympic Icehockey.

HEJA SVERIGE!!!!!!
