sucks for Brian, however the whole anti-american thing that TA has turned into is annoying.
It wouldn't be if Brian himself led the discussion. Read his blog!
hehe this sucks
reminds me of that episode in Married with Children were Al punches this thief who brooke into his house and than the thief takes Al to court for injuring him - and than he wins...
*puts Bt- Love, Peace & Grease on*
Ever thought that since the guy has been involved in a number of lawsuits that he isnt always the innocent?
Poor BT... Hope all goes well for him.
Take it from someone who works in the IP law field (patent litigation, not music), these types of suits are going on all over the world, not just America. I supply documents to attorneys who represent our corporate clients in countries like the UK, the Netherlands, Japan, and Germany pretty frequently based on the same types of technology that our suits are dealing with. The clients file in pretty much every country where the products are being sold, so we work together with foreign counsel to keep costs down. We don't work on contigency at my firm, though, just hourly rates, no matter whether we're the plaintiffs or defense.
Compared with the types of IP theft I see, though, 10 million is far more than this guy will get. I see quite a few 9 figure judgements, but that's when the profits on the products are in the billions/year for years at a time.
"Of lawyers, Mr. Lamm has this to say: "America has 6% of the worlds population but over 50% of the world's lawyers. American goods and services are burdened by having to carry incredible costs that the goods and services of other nations don't have to carry. There is a "lawyer tax" on almost everything we do. The political influence of lawyers keeps us from passing the type of tort reform enjoyed by other nations.""

That's just a little google search result. Nothing official, but still interesting.

Like I said the chaos starts in the US and slowly spreads abroad and potentially worldwide. |
