-- So, how many of you all have I pursuaded to buy the V6's?

Yeah, I see your point about the Sennheisers, they aren't beauties to look at like. I've got the Sennheiser EH2200. Cost me all of 40 quid I think. Not the most comfortable of headphones (they look the part mind), but they have a less coloured sound quality than any of my speakers or the 1001s.
Open headphones aren't my thing and they hurt like hell.
Yea, the EH2200 is okay... kinda bright, and you can do loads better for the price...
And open headphones DON'T hurt like hell, as a rule; many of the most comfortable headphones are open ones...
Well, i already bought em before i read the thread
Gluegun... Here is a question for ya, have you convinced yourself to buy the V6/7506 yet? hehhe kinda surprised u dont own it, maybe u should sell all ur other headphones if u cant afford the V6 (?!).
Hey thanks glue ive decided to go with 7506 + DT-250 earpads, i had a look at DT-250, their lack of any swivelling is really unsuitable for djing though, and if i really want to buy non-dj headphones id consider HD600, which is open can and sounds heaps better than even DT-250 i rekon..
Decided to buy it? No, it doesn't suit my needs. Yes, I have tried it. Here's why. For one thing, I already HAVE the Beyerdynamic DT831's (the best full sized cans that block out a decent amount of outside sound out there, for the most part...really awesome studio monitoring headphones), and, while they are not suitable for DJing (they are WAY too big) or uber-portable music listening (they need an amp), well, I have an amp for them, and I'm not against using them with my backpack... I use them for long car trips and such. Also, if I want isolation real portably, I'll just use my (cheap, lame-ass) Sony MDR-EX70LP inside-the-ear-canal canalphones. When I want to upgrade to something that is better than both, I will simply buy a set of Etymotic ER4P's.. Also, when I want an easy-to-drive headphone for computer gaming, I'll just plug in my (open, easy to drive) Sennheiser HD565's, which give better imaging than most anything I know of...
You see, I don't *need* the versatility of the V6's! Instead of buying one headphone to do it all, I bought a whooooolllleeee bunch of headphones and an amp, lol! Why did I do this? Well, the thing is, the first thing that got *me* big on headphones was the concept of "Soundstage" (sounds coming from a wide area around you) with the open-air Grado SR-60's... and, so, after that, when I wanted some isolation, I bought the single pair of closed headphones that doesn't have a closed in sound, that has a lot of soundstage-- the Beyerdynamic DT831's. Therefore, the V6's, while they have good imaging, are, after all, small, under-$100 closed headphones, and they aren't really made to give you the soundstaging that I have been spoiled with...
Meme4me, the thing with the HD600's is that they *NEED* an amp to perform well! I would VERY strongly suggest that you get a headphone for *your specific needs* rather than what is supposedly "the best". Figure out your needs, and then buy. Also, the V6's don't have a side swivel. They have an up and down swivel (the earcups can flip outward... rotating over the X axis, not the Y axis). The HD25's, however, have both swivels...
And besides! You are in Australia! You can get one headphone that is really nice, for real cheap. If you want a BIG HONKING HUGE FREAKING GIGANTIC headphone that is very open, comfortable, and easy to drive, get the Philips HP890 for $100 AUD. All other headphones in Australia are basically rediculously overpriced, except that one, which is rediculously underpriced...
yo gluegun, i just got them today.. at first i was kinda dissapointed in the appearence and the sound was OK at first.. i believe that all of this discussion kinda hyped me up too much.. but for an under $100 pair of headphones i think these are the best choice.. their light as fuck and i don't know what people are talking about saying the padding hurts their ears.. true the padding is kinda skimpy but they are soo light it shouldn' make a difference anyways.. they are super clear for mids and highs.. i think they could do a little better in the lower range but perfectly suitable for dj'ing because when your up there and there is sooo much noise (these block out a lot) if you got some thunderous bass going through ur headphones at a really high volume they are gonna pop anyways.. so overall.. i give them my stamp of approval!! excellent way of spending 62 bux!!
Well, it works this way...
Listen to your V6's as much as possible for a week.
Then listen to whatever you were listening before.
Sell whatever you were listening to before in immediate disgust....

Uh, what do you mean by "gonna pop anyway" and, how do you think the lower range could be better? Like I said, compared to the V700DJ's, they are much less exxaggerated in the midbass, and go much, MUCH deeper...
you are right.. i only listned to a total of 2 tracks before i posted because it went like this.. ups guy comes, i sign for the phones, rip open the box, mix 2 songs, and go late to work.. but now i'm listening to them and they are great.. i had them on and my girl was talking to me and i couldn't hear a word she said, only saw her lips moving.. i can't sell wat i was listening to before because they are broken.. i have an old pair of panasonic can headphones that i bought to listen to my walkman about 6 years ago and the thing that connects them broke so basically i was just holding one can up to my ear to mix.. so basically anything will beat that but i must confess, these headphones are great!, im gonna plug them into my computer and just listen to some tunes for about an hour and then my opinion of the phones will probably be even better
heh
the Senn 280 Pro's get better every day!
I bought me some Sony MDR7506's today from a place in Melbourne called Sound Corp www.soundcorp.com.au. They told me they are the only ones in Melbourne with a Sony "Professional" retail license to sell them... they were $220 australian which i am happy with considering they equally as good my Sennheiser HD-25's which cost $400.
Thanks for spreading the good word Gluegun, now im not so scared of losing my headphones anymore because i can replace them for half the price!
