Just for one, they don't sell them as pairs like M-Audio does. But you can get pair deals i'm sure online. Yeah they are less expensive too, but I really like the V6-IIs, they sound so crisp. I may eventually want to get into producing in the future...or doing like remix work but i'm still trying to tackle mixing, esp mixing other stuff besides trance (which i'm used to mixing).

1 speaker of KRK RP8 VS. 2 speakers of KRK V4

what would you guys go for ?

Posted by brinboston on Mar-18-2006 13:48:

like i said before, i think V4s are underrated.... have u listened to the 2 pairs yet? i heard the v4s and they sounded crispy clean.... for my personal pref i feel that clean mids are just as if not more important than the bass which is y i got a pair of the V6-IIs instead of the the RP8s.

i guess its all up to personal pref... i personally felt that this pair of monitors would last me a very long time so i saved a little longer and got a nicer pair than what i was thinking of before i tested them out.

i bargained with GC, got the pair for around $600 i think (w/ taxes i think it came to less than $650 and the guy threw in a pair of isolation pads). keep an eye out for deals at GC like when they have for example 1 year no interest as long as u pay it off before the year is up

I don't know. I saw someone do one and he left it natural wood grain and it looked uber sexay! Bill was like ohhh ahhhh damn I want one like that.

Plus they slam the hell out of anything in the price range.

Do the Rokit speakers come with any cables? I would probably prefer to have them hooked up with XLR cables.

i got the 5's and they didn't come with any cables except power.

Posted by Spirit5 on Mar-31-2006 01:25:

Anyone who owns the 5's...do you need a subwoofer for them?? Can you get by without one for a while?

Posted by HotDogWater on Apr-06-2006 21:51:

I think they'd be fine for a while, it's not a total loss of bass. I plan on using mine for quite some time. But then again, I'm a noob.

At first I bought the 2 RP8's, but later switched to 2 RP5's with the RP10 sub. Coulden't be happier

Yeah that's what i'll probably do. I think the RP8s might be too big and loud for near fields, I don't want to blow my ear drums out!

how does this setup compare to two rp8's? why does it make you happier? thanks

Pair of Mackie HR824. bastards made me realise how crappy mp3s sound which made me buy more records...

Posted by Psiweaver on Apr-11-2006 01:52:

hr824's are good im saving for a pair of hr626's or some event monitors.

Posted by Spirit5 on Apr-12-2006 03:25:

Well finally got the KRK RP8s. I was debating between the RP5 and the RP8 and I decided I wanted the RP8s because they are louder and I wanted something to replace my PAs. I just need some speaker stands now to place them on....anyone know any decent..sturdy stands??

Posted by adx on Apr-12-2006 07:52:

I just picked up a set of RP8s today. Definately need some stands.

Peeked around online and quickly found tripod stands and adaptors for speakers that dont already have the 1-3/8" hole. I was thinking about cutting some pieces of 1" wood and attaching the adaptor to it, so I dont have to screw anything into the RP8. Bam, it will swivel as well.

Oh btw, thanks all for the suggestion of the KRK monitors. Affordable, attractive, (although a little large) and the sound. A highly recommended buy.

The is what I have and I'll have to say I love them. I also have a 15 inch Mackie sub that goes with them.

Posted by antronx on Apr-13-2006 01:14:

You also have to play high quality recordings of live acoustic instuments to really appreciate these monitors. Although, some people who are not used to highly detailed highs often say that these monitors sound bad. But what they are hearing is badly mastered recording, not the speakers. Sometimes i want to punch some of the EDM producers for writing a great track, but not doing a good job at mastering.

Posted by Psiweaver on Apr-13-2006 01:15:

how do you like the sub?

How loud are you wanting?? i used these computer moniters by "Creative Labs" for over a year before the sub woofer was clearly blown. only cost me $40 US currency. computer speakers are probably twice as good as they are when i bought those over 2 years ago.

you could get a sick lil system that's good enough to bump a room for under $100. this is for monitoring of course, not all out bumping, slamin, and dancin. i still got down on mine though

so for most of use purchasing the hr824 would be useless?
