unbelieveable .
to tell you the truth, if GMU wins, my opinion we will see LSU-GMU for the championship.

LSU will beat UCLA , because i don't think UCLA will have an answer for the Thomas-Davis connection. they have been running opponents defenses rampid .

and GMU's cinderella season is going to beat Villanova.

if UConn pulls this out, then it's LSU-UConn ..

atm, miss free throw , and 6.1 seconds to go .. ohoh .

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Mar-26-2006 22:10:

wow.
GMU beats UConn.
Villanova-GMU, imo.
Villanova will pull out against Florida.

GMU to Final Four!
Great that they do it, and get to cut down the net, in front of a local crowd

It's amazing how many chances they gave UConn with all the missed FT's
UConn also missed a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer

According to SI, it's the first mid-major university to reach the Final Four since Larry Bird's Indiana State. We'll see what happens.

Posted by Mebot on Mar-26-2006 23:21:

It's kind of hard to fathom the extent of George Mason's success since I live so close to this university. I have many friends that go there and I've been to many parties there as well.

It's kind of funny to think that next week, all across America and internationally, people are going to be watching the final four championship and George Mason is playing in it. This "cinderalla" story is definitely going to put GMU on the map now, not just for athletics, but for academics as well.

Florida knocks off Villanova to round out the Final Four, which has no #1 seeds (first time since 1980)

Semis will be:
LSU vs. UCLA
George Mason vs. Florida

Here is my TA ESPN bracket which is slashed so many times it ought to be bleeding. Still, got one final Four team, which puts me exactly 50 percentile :\

Gutted.

Points - 560 Pct. - 50 Rank - 1349810

did you really have bucknell over Memphis?

I'm not insulting I'm just curious as to what made you think they had a shot.

nice pick by the way w/ Whichita state, I don't think many ppl had them going to the regionals.

Posted by tribu on Mar-28-2006 21:42:

Well, Bucknell dispatched a very good Kansas team last year and they returned most of the players, including all 5 starters (I think). Bucknell beat some big names like Syracuse and St Joe's this year and while they weren't exactly competitive aganinst Nova or Duke, I didn't hold Memphis in an equal regard so I thought they could pull it off. I thought the first team that could defend Memphis and get them into some foul trouble would beat them and Bucknell played good defense all year but the 20-2 run to start the game killed them.

I picked alot of upsets too for the sake of doing so with this bracket. Who knew Nick Fazekas and Nevada would look past Montana

Witchita State was one of the top teams in the country all year

hah shows what I know then, I had them out of it early. I def. didn't follow any teams in that league.

Imagine if Hofstra (sp?) had made the tourney, they beat up on GMU.

Bucknell is in my schools league (the patriot league) and I followed them close so I was pretty sure they weren't going to go very far.

Kansas got upset again this year, I wonder if its because Bradley was that good or if they've been overrated lately.

Posted by tribu on Mar-29-2006 01:05:

Yeah, I definitely agree. Kansas' last two tourneys are extremely suspect and they had better start playing good soon or Illinois alum Bill Self could be looking for a new job.

I was picking before the tourney though and I thought Kansas would go far. In another bracket, I have them beating UCLA to get to the final four.

The MVC was pretty strong this year, going 4-2 in the tournament. Witchita State was often in the top 20 of the RPI rankings(Final Rank ~27) for the year.
