-- A JP Party worth attending??

I've been to a ton of jp's parties from way back in the day and i've been to a few recently..
and I have to agree 100% with what Eco's saying about everything with JP, its right on target. But, regardless of what he does or play or loop endlessly.. its what he's known for. People can rag on him forever but he's the one who held SF down for years and doing those ridiculous sets till 2 in the afternoon with all those meatheads.
Doesn't matter what he sniffs, what his people sniff, what he plays... nothing!
Promoters book him for a reason, the mother****** sucks but he's an ICON in new york.
Let him bring ableton and not use it, let em keep doing 'classics' nights.. he's still generating revenue to whatever party he's booked at, and in the end my friend.. that's all it comes down to when it comes to management.

in the case of JP.... the classics are great, but fails to consider the music of NOW.... to put it bluntly, hes not progressing, and thats that.

and yes, i agree with jurel, money is what matters, but Louie Devito brings in money, KTU parties bring in money, that doesnt mean they should have a special pass with us not criticising them.

and A.K., i know you didnt say anything about him NEEDING to be on drugs, thats what i said.... and i uphold my opinion that he seriously needs to be on drugs to play, and everyone knows it, the dudes cracked out.

and going back to jurel, yes he is an "icon" but i think hes more of a joke nowadays.... i can name dozens of former SF heads, former JP addicts, that agree with me in saying: HE NEEDS TO KNOW WHEN TO SAY NO.... i feel like i'm babysitting whenever i'm at a JP party, and i'm only 19.... i dont think he can be an ICON to kids that didnt know about him until MTV's TRUE LIFE, IM A CLUBBER episode.... if his parties were even 50% filled with people over 21, then id say, "okay, hes an icon, theyre going because theyve known and loved him through the years", but i think its just a matter of ignorance.... im bored on MYspace somtimes and check out friends of friends of friends of mine and i stumble into like dozens of pages that have that "I HEART JP" icon thing, meanwhile they have DHT's "listen to your heart" or CASCADA on their music player.... i think its a matter of the JP party being the only consistent 18+ party when they turned 18, and ignorance is bliss.

yea dude, i definite agree.
btw, don't think i was defending JP hehe.. i was just stating how it actually is here in the city for years, which im sure ur starting to be aware of even though you're 19 or whatnot =)

ok so first things first..... who cares what people do and if their on drugs or not, this is the club lifestyle after all and this is how it is, If dj's can go along with drugs and not trainwreck or at least not train wreck many times then thats fine and their own decision.

I was actually defending JP's drug use as well... much of the EDM scene is built upon drug use (well, most genres of music have drug influences in them).

I don't think anybody was saying that you guys are not allowed to criticise JP (at least I wasn't for sure). I personally crack JP jokes all the time, but that really isn't the point here. My original statements were confined to two points:

1) Having extra equipment on the stage that you don't use doesn't mean that you're a bad DJ.

2) Some of JP's older club and studio mixes that are out on CD are quite good and a lot of fun to listen to.

I said nothing about his parties being good, or about him being a good DJ, as I have never been to a JP event. I just say that if he wants an extra keyboard and monitor up there... let him have it, just give the guy a break as to what he has up on stage with him, whether or not he uses it.

to his loyal fans that make the trip down there... its made up of probably like 1% Las Vegas people, and 2% Miami, and the rest are from Jersey, Staten Island, and Westchester

my friend went to see him in Boston.... his reaction was "what are you guys thinking? why does your city like him so much, i'm surprised he didnt get booed off"
