lol, funny stuff. I listened to the 2 songs he had on his page while it was still up, they really did sound like they were made on FL3.

What a waste of hardware..

Posted by Aquascape on Mar-22-2006 12:51:

LOL what a strange outcome! I'm sad I missed all the fun.

Perhaps if he hadn't acted like a know-it-all from the minute he got here things would have been different.

Shame I missed this thread before he deleted everything and bugged out..

That kit list was a toy list. With the exception of maybe three or four items the entire list was junk. There is always someone with a bigger colelction of gear. The trick is knowing how to use it, and having a balanced setup that you know really well.

Anyone got a copy of what he posted sonically? I'd love to hear it for a chuckle..

Sad

I wonder if he really left...I'll miss the good fun this thread gave me...

look at his 'bio' that he wrote about himself in the third person and listen to his music and you'll get the idea.

I wonder if he wrote this bit when he was smoking something

WTF? LOL

It would be even funnier if we knew after he wrote his OMG biography he began to cry and said something along the lines "My god, it's so beautiful".

Posted by Diginerd on Mar-22-2006 22:02:

Ok, So I listened.

Personally I found the tracks dull, overly repetive, and the mixes were far from tidy. The best one is actually the last one (Breakthru), by a large margin, but didn't float my boat.

I wouldn't slate them as hard as some here have (Backlash against the hype I suppose), but they all definately need a shit ton of work...

Yes I did listen to them all all the way through.

Any of these tracks I most certainly wouldn't try at home, let alone in a public forum with a massive amount of over hyped spin..

Sorry mate..

Posted by RealitysDreamz on Apr-04-2006 23:20:

Wow. i personally liked some of this stuff. Yes it could use more, but it seems to be a good base for something. I know nothing about hardware or software, but to me it isnt what you use, its if you can feel the producer in the music, and tell that they put themselves into it. i can see that there was feeling put into the music, and not just someone trying to rip off key sounds of another producer to make something of their own so that they can be a "famous producers" hes doing his own thing, and i commend that. you dont see that much these days

I can see where he may have gotten defensive. Some of the things i read were more then constructive criticism, they were out right rude and not needed. You talk about ego but it seems those that flamed him the most are the ones with the egos.

im sure i will get flamed to shit for saying that but if thats the line of defense people feel they need to go to when someone states their opinion or makes an observation, then thats fine for me. Im 22 so i can take childish flameing without crying about it. I already went through stuff like this in highschool, it wont be hard to do it again.

Posted by sterilis on Apr-04-2006 23:27:

not too keen on that track gruv. sorry but if i had all that hardware he supposedly has i think my tracks would be awesome.

Posted by RealitysDreamz on Apr-04-2006 23:41:

Using hardware or software has nothing to do with ones creative capabilities. If someone dosent have good enough creativity and artistry, their music will suck no matter what they use.

Posted by sterilis on Apr-04-2006 23:45:

not really i find hardware much easier to use due to having a shitty midi controller. when i use my jp8000 my sounds are much better than when i use vst's through my midi controller.

i prefer to tweak the knobs manually rather than clicking a mouse all the time. when you use a mouse you never quite get the sound you want. well you do eventually. hardware is less time consuming.

Posted by RealitysDreamz on Apr-04-2006 23:53:

it may be easier, but i still maintain that if one isnt creative enough or dosent know what they are doing the things that come out of it will suck.

if you feel that you could better produce with hardware then i think you should go for it. Everyone says its expensive, but if theres a better chance that throwing the cash in there now could benefit you and your music better in the future, i say go for it if you can manage to save for it.

id love to hear some of your stuff.

Hey WikkidSkillzness...
I'd like to thank you for driving with Daizy and Kurt all the way down to North Cackalackee and hearing my live set. I know you guys were going down to WMC but you went out of your way to come hear me and hang out afterwards, and it really means a lot to me. Thank you also for uploading all your tracks into my computer for me! And also thank you for discussing hardware with me and giving me recommendations. It's nice to meet my fellow hardware users in real life, who are willing to discuss music production freely instead of making it into some sort of elitist argument. Music is Music...next thing you know people will start calling Beethoven a moron because all he did was write the music but never actually played all the damn orchestra instruments himself... people saying digital art is "not art" because it's not done with the traditional paint and brushes or colored pencils. Who really gives a crap, right?
Yeah this is my first post here. I don't do "online communities" very much... I actually like to sit in my lab, write music, and play shows. If people on the internet want to argue with me and tell me how i'm lower than them because they've been making music longer, or have better connections, well then the joke is on them because it's they who are wasting their time on the internet when they could be proving themselves out in "the real world" instead, so i'll just leave it at that.
There's nothing wrong with talking highly of yourself and what you do as long as you don't try and ram it down others throats. If we all approached the world in an apathetic and modest fashion, none of us would get anywhere.
Those who matter know whats up...
P.S. To any of those that actually think they can determine a specific sound using their ears: I hate to break it to you, but unless someone is using a blatant preset, you would never know what anyone is using unless they saw them using it, and EVEN THEN who knows because IT'S ELECTRONIC MUSIC and the possibilities are ENDLESS. There are so many variations possible with so many sounds. I can make a bass drop in a Korg Electribe sound just like a bass drop in the Alesis A6, and vice versa. I just made an electro riff not long ago where it sounds like a woman is screaming out with an orgasm and all it is is me taking the reverse gunshot noise on a YAMAHA RS7000, slowing it down, and adding some effects, but for anyone else to hear, they'd think I took a sample from a porn or even myself screaming it into a mic.
So who freaking cares, just enjoy the damn music. If it sucks to you, then move on and go listen to something else.

Posted by shadowbunny on Apr-05-2006 01:25:

And w.t.f. is all this about hardware being too expensive? Decent computers and laptops cost as much as Alesis Andromedas. Then there is software. Decent softwares cost anywhere from $100-3,000. It's all the same, it's just a matter of preferance. YOu got your DJ kane up there who prefers hardware (which I do as well), and we have our reasons. I admit i'm too lazy to click my mouse so damn much and it hurts my wrist overtime.
Then there's the laptop junkiez with this tiny little notebook holding 478934798 proggies inside so they can have everything in a nice, organized place.
It mostly all sounds good to me.
From laptoppers like Otto Von Schirach to hardware users like Jackal n' Hyde.
Quitcher freakin complaining, damn.
If you don't have talent or paitence, everything you make NO MATTER WHAT YOU ARE USING, is going to suck.

Pretty strong labelling/stereotype/judgment considering all you did was just read some words. WOW. This is why I don't come on forums. Actually I don't eat pills, but i'm pretty sure now after you've made that type of comment, that you're the type of person who can't even fathom the true personality of someone else except through your own perception. Pretty conceited and cocky if you ask me. I'm sorry you're like that, hopefully one day you'll wake up. Take care

That's really just so in the US, where Pride and Humility seem to have swapped their respective status of being a sin and a virtue

Exactly! All the hardware in the world can't save you!

Ah... and thought I'd missed all the excitement of this thread!

Ghost Smilie

actually Shes not wikkid skillz. i know her. Shes a producer out of North Carloina. She also does clothing design. WWW.Shadowbunny.com is her page and shes on myspace under the same name.
She also has a full livejournal page.

SO maybe you should investigate before assuming things, it will make you look less like an idiot.
