Guv is a sick club and has the potential to do so much more in my opinion. If they did a better job with crowd management it would make the main room so much more enjoyable. Most of the time I just can't deal with the sardine can environment anymore.
That being said Kool Haus is hands down my favourite place to party. So much space, Its like its own little world in there. I can't wait for another kh party.

One thing's for sure...there's none of those sketchy, squatting, e-tards at Crobar.. and the vibe there was definitely amazing, that is, until the Hell's Angels NYC chapter came in at the end of the night

See, but as I said, to me, a club encompasses it's crowd....Without it, it's just a room with speakers, and it's that very crowd that I need a great vibe from to make me go back. Besides, when I go clubbing, I'm there 'to party' and whatever the factor that may be to make me want to go party there again is what defines a great club IMO. But not everyone is like me, so my choice in venue is different....maiking a poll like this tough to reach a consensus on.

I could swear someone argued with me once that the Docks (as a venue) can actually hold more people!? Not sure if that's true or not.

i was told by a guv bouncer once that on events like labour of love capacity at the guv is in and around 10k.

it was that bouncer who always works the drink door, good guy.

I had heard the same thing... I think if you exculde the koolhaus from the guv complex then it's probably accurate.

Posted by Flec on Mar-19-2006 19:17:

yeah if you disclude the kool haus and include the patio at the docks lol..... Tiesto at the docks i beleive had aroudn 6-7k????? with the patio opened and anyone who was there would tell ya, that place was well beyond guvernemnt-style sardine cramming

Posted by Truepioneer on Mar-19-2006 20:00:

Guv in the top 10 LOL not on my list anyway!!!

The place has pretty much no vibe! and if you don't think so you haven't experienced what a party vibe is! It's extremely pretenious and overly serious. Finally, the very rude staff they employ.

Guv isn't the biggest club in North America. Isn't the biggest that one inside the Olympic Stadium in Montreal?

Number #1 all around best club I've seen anywhere:

FABRIC

hands down the winner.

I would give another horourable mention to KoKo (London, U.K.) I just love the old opera house thing and they do it so so well. Not to mention the largest disco ball you've seen in your LIFE!!! I shit you not!!!

Undisputed number #1 club in the world for 10 consecutive years. Hands down the winner by far. COMFORT ZONE in Toronto.

Crobar NYC????

the vibe was awful and there was sketchy etards everywhere..and unlike TO, they don't hide in speakers..they get in yer face. one of the worst crowds i've seen. by the end of the night (ferry march 3) i was so jumpy that i almost knocked out some TAs when they came up behind me. crobars (only) saving grace was the NICEST, COOLEST bouncers of all times

Zouk in Singapore is hands down the best club I've been to. Plus alot of world famous DJs will agree with me on this one

It was an epic battle, but both sides left with their heads held high.

and again what is this being based on?

Honestly, I have to agree completely

Posted by slinkyhead on Mar-29-2006 17:30:

in this months DJ Mag it has the top 50 clubs in the world as voted for by approx 600 djs.

Dont know the full results but think Fabric won, my local the opera house (home of Slinky) came 28th. Am trying to find the full results now.

Posted by Truepioneer on Mar-29-2006 17:41:

^ I have to agree Fabric all the way! and they don't even play my first preference of music! That's how you know the club is good!

Being from NYC and having been to Crobar more times than I can count, I wouldn't go quite that far, but I definitely wouldn't agree with the guy that you quoted about it having a really great vibe, either. The problem with Crobar is that, night to night, it really isn't consistent. I was there for Hernan Cattaneo a few weeks ago and the vibe was really good. They had the place well decorated, most of the people weren't e-tards (btw, if you've got a big problem with e-tards, switch from trance to other EDM genres that are less notorious, because the most crackie infested nights I've had were either in Miami for WMC or at trance nights) and it wasn't ungodly crowded. It was the complete opposite for Sasha at the end of January, with the club wall-to-wall with one of the most annoying crowds I've seen there. I feel that the two things that affect it most are whether it's 18+ or 21+ and what DJ is playing. If it's some big superstar (Sasha, Tiesto, Armin, Cox), the crowd, unfortunately, is usually not great. Also, their Saturday parties are far worse than their Friday events. All the B&T people make their way in for the House DJs like Boris and Calderone, which sucks, because I think I could probably like Calderone if it weren't for the crackhead crowd he draws here.

BTW, Crobar somehow won best U.S Club at the IDMA awards during WMC. I guess that was more accurate than their best lighting award last year because they've got shit for lights.
